4 out of 5 eggsGreat memory/value-poor customer tech/chat support from G.Skill

Pros: Great performance/value - memory increased performance as expected

Cons: Poor/arrogant chat support -see other

Other Thoughts: I was concerned because the description only spoke of Intel so I initiated a chat with G,Skill here to see if it would work with my new HP all-in-one computer with an AMD CPU and I provided the model of the computer and the CPU and she told me it would work but at a lower speed. I then cut and pasted info from the HP site showing the cpu would support the higher speed in this computer and she replied with a snotty reply saying the info I supplied proved she was correct ( in all capital letters) - she was wrong. I installed the memory and ran CPU-Z and the memory is indeed running at the higher speed . If you are a techy then this memory is a great value - just don't expect tech support from G.Skill. This is why I knocked off 1 star - the memory itself is 5 stars.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory improved performance for your computer. With 16GB of DDR3-1866, the operating system can be fast and smooth under any circumstance. There is no better DDR3 RAM on the market. With regards to your chat conversation, there may have been some slight misunderstanding, but I'm sure any future correspondence will be much better. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact is directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsWorks in my G570 Lenovo / intel 2nd gen

Pros: Changed my cpu in a G570 Lenovo laptop to a quad core i7-2720QM. The i7 2core it replaced was cl9 with a 1333 max speed - the quad core cpu offers up to 1600 ram speeds - this G.Skill runs at 1600 10cl Cool ! So it went from about a 21mb/s to 26 prox channel from cpu to ram. Something like that. Anyhow seems it works just fine in the 2nd gen intel Sandy Bridge chipsets just fine - Well for a day anyhow.. hopefully run the same forever. With a SSD everything already is pretty darn quick but Seems quicker on scans and program opening. Guess its working... Thanks Newegg/G.Skill !!

One thing I did notice right off the bat was the minimum wattage of cpu reduced slightly at idle. Exactly from 4.10w to 3.60w on the cupid HWmonitor program for the cpu package minimum current. So cpu and all should be slightly cooler although its pretty darn cool already. Surprise - quad core install is cooler that dual core and idle is close to same watts ? Maybe I just got a lucky cpu for the cheap now that its 5yrs old.

Easy open package - Ram snaps in nicely, fits like it should in the ram slots.

Cons: Cons.. those stickers are bright red.. and I don't like that the guarantee goes away if removed.
I'm sure they don't help cool or allow the air circulation around the chips/board as well as it could.

5 out of 5 eggsQuestion:

Pros: I see in the specs this works with Intel 3rd and 4th gen processors, but no mention of AMD processors. Is there any reason this wouldn't work with an AMD CPU? I have a Lenovo G50-45 I want to upgrade and just want to make sure I'm getting the right thing.

Cons: - I don't like how I don't own it yet.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent memory upgrade for laptops supporting DDR3L-1866.

Pros: I tested the memory sticks for a few days and nights after first installing them - absolutely no errors.
Runs cool to the touch.
Great pairing with Intel Broadwell CPUs that support 1866 Mhz DDR3 operation.

Cons: None really. G.Skill has gotten all the basics right - packaging, SPD coding, quality control. Anything else would be frivolous.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this if you are increasing your memory capacity on your existing system or building a new one and your system supports 1866 Mhz DDR3 RAM. If you are looking to upgrade from same capacity, 1600 Mhz DDR3 RAM, my advice would be: don't bother.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: Lots of bang for your buck with these. After install, this RAM was recognized without any issues. Used CPU-Z and confirmed configured as dual channel running at the correct speed. Great value!!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend this RAM. Use CPU-Z to confirm that it's running at the correct speed after installing. Since it's double data rate, the 1866 gets divided by 2, so the nominal DRAM Frequency is 933 MHz (it might not be exact, mine is running at 931.8 MHz).

For what it's worth, I'm running this on a 3rd gen Intel platform (QM77 chipset). Tested with both an i5-3320m and i7-3720qm and works without any issues.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with iMac, Retina, 27", Late 2015 with Skylake processor

Pros: Great reviews overall. Cheaper than competitor.

Cons: Don't see any yet.

Other Thoughts: Since there are users with similar question, thought of sharing this with the community - I just got a confirmation from G.SKILL customer support that this memory will work with Retina iMac, 27 inch Late 2015 model with Skylake processor. Per support, CL11 is needed to work properly at DDR3-1866. Apple does not support anything other than standard. Since this is CL11, it should work.

I just placed an order with Newegg for this based on confirmation from G.Skill.

Cons: none that i see.

4 out of 5 eggsNoticeable improvement

Pros: Easy to install. Noticeable improvement in performance.

Cons: None. It is RAM...

Other Thoughts: I installed these as a pair into my new laptop, after installing Windows 10. The machine recognized them right off, no problem. The machine runs smoother, and no real heat problems.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Brian

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the RAM was easy to install and you noticed a good improvement in performance. This is a high frequency, high capacity, low voltage memory kit, so there is really nothing better. CPU and memory performance will be maximized, all the while the low voltage design will allow the laptop to remain cool and extend battery life. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsNice, works

Pros: Faster than stock, recognized and properly clocked at 1866 out of the box.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Replaced 1 stick of 8GB 1600 in an AORUS X3. I run virtualized Linux in Windows, and lots of applications, so I needed more headroom. The 1866 speed is a modest boost, but why not?
