The 8GB Survivor features an anodized aircraft-grade aluminum case, which offers previously unheard-of durability! In true geek fashion, several third-party reviewers have subjected the Survivor to submersion in 12 feet of pool water, repeated drops from a garage roof, and even run it over with an SUV, and it continues to work! We obviously do not recommend that you subject your Survivor to such abuse, but it's good to know that it can easily withstand the rigors of living at the bottom of your briefcase, purse, or desk drawer!
The Survivor USB 2.0 drive is stylish, compact, and reliable, so you know you can trust it with your MP3s, digital images, presentations and other critical data. This model is optimized for speed in up- and downloading. When you need to know your data is safe, no matter what, the Survivor offers you security and peace of mind!

Wow!
- Pros: Just got this item and just from looking at it, it looks serious! After fighting with the blister packing I've realized why Corsair has given this thing a 10 year warranty. It's freakin' bullet-proof! Seriously, though, it's a very sturdy construction. Fast read/write and lots of space (Vista reads 7.56G).
- Cons: Jump drive is pretty heavy but that's due to it being made out of old airplanes and hair from Superman. Unimpressed with the "Corsair" dog tags it comes with but I guess that goes along with the whole, "I'm a Navy S.E.A.L. and I need to take a flash drive with me 200M in the ocean and then use it to infiltrate the enemy" theme.
- Other Thoughts: 10 year warranty is unbeatable. Great for deep sea diving and downloading your favorite MP3s during a fire fight.
Build like a tank, and about as fast as one
- Pros: Swing it around on a lanyard and crash it into a wall, stomp on it, toss it in the washer, give it to a baby to chew on. I wouldn't recommend any of these, but I'm sure it'll stand up to it. I can vouch for the baby. Most ruggedly build flash drive I have ever seen.
- Cons: A bit slow on writes, especially for multiple small writes (bad software design, anyway). It takes about four minutes for eMule to close if I run it off the flash drive. Fortunately I don't do it that often. Seems speedy enough for my everyday activities.
It hurts when a baby hits you on the head with it.
- Other Thoughts: I chose this one to survive, having suffered several premature flash drive deaths, and I suspect that it'll do that. The fact that it is a bit slow is a small price to pay. I prefer security over speed.
Updated the version of Truecrypt that it came with.

Great, sturdy drive.
- Pros: Durable outer case, rubber water seals, fairly fast transfer speed. I've been using it as a boot device for an emergency Linux backup, and it seems to run that fairly well.
- Cons: Case is bulky, the little rubber bits covering the opening may come off in time, and I have a strong suspicion that airport security may decide to take it.
- Other Thoughts: For those who are dumb like myself, I'll say that the actual USB drive is in the aluminum housing. The drive itself is fairly narrow and will fit into most tight USB ports. However, the end of the drive is essentially the cap, and may block things near its end. Corsair did consider this enough to include an extension cable, so I don't see it as a major issue.
CORSAIR quality
- Pros: It does what it says it will. I have tried breaking it. I even stripped the stickers and painted it black. Threw it in water and ran it over with my truck. Still works.
- Cons: I wish it came in better colors. (not really a con)
- Pros: Durable, nice capacity
- Cons: Big. Sometimes won't fit in ports that are in tight places.
- Other Thoughts: I've bought 2 of these. The first one is about a year old and is definitely showing cosmetic wear (it's kept on my key ring and goes everywhere with me). Best flash drive I've owned. Would recommend to anyone who wants a flash drive to last.
