Fast, Rugged, Dependable
- Pros: The Thing is definately Rugged. Transfer Speed is Faster than any other USB drive i've had before.
- Cons: It's a bit bulky. It's to be expected that it will be larger than a normal USB Drive, But you won't have to worry about washing it while it's still in your Jeans.
- Other Thoughts: The Package came with a neck strap that's actually the same as a Dogtag chain. It even comes with a "Corsair" Dogtag complete with the Rubber silencer. When you hold this, you can tell that you bought the GOOD one. The quality is there, but that's what you expect from Newegg and Corsair.
32GB of wow!
- Pros: This is everything you'd want from a flash drive! 32GB is finally a disk size that's acceptable on these normally tiny USB drives! Seems very tough, solid enough to throw around or hang from my neck and get beaten up + it's water resistant! (I sunk it in my sink full of water no problems! I don't recommend it though) AES encryption through TrueCrypt is also a great idea!
- Cons: Not really a CON but the only problem I have with these USB drives is that they are partationed and formatted in FAT32 and can't be re-formatted using NTFS. This'll limit your max single file size to 4GB thus limiting your TrueCrypt file container size. To get the full 32GBs encrypted you'll be required to re-format the whole drive "using" TrueCrypt, which may have some risk. Also hopefully in the future they'll consider adding a TPM chip (or someting of the sort) for a full hardware encryption.
- Other Thoughts: Over all. This lives up to it's name! Made really tough and water resistant. The large disk size is finally in the realm of acceptability. The raw read and write speeds are about 9mb/s read and 7mb/s write (random write dips down to about 2mb/s) which isn't really fast but is better than others. Also if you haven't had experience with TrueCrypt, I'd reccomend reading the manuals and FaQs on their site before hand.

I love Newegg
- Pros: I owned the 4gb version of this drive. Its worked flawlessly and the extra protection from the case has saved me more than once. I needed a much bigger drive to transfer files from my music studio to home and back. So I bought this drive.
- Cons: None at all. Formatted it as soon as i got it, it works flawlessly.
- Other Thoughts: I'd also like to mention i bundled this with a wireless router and adapter. Combined shipping was $2.99 for all to be shipped. I ordered it yesterday at 11am and it arrived today before 10am! Less than a day!!! Now that's fast shipping.
In final, get these corsair survivor drives. Some people have had issues, but I've had none at all. The extra protection is most certainly worth the money.
Iron Clad
- Pros: Case and USB just as described...roughly the size of a roll of Quarters and tough.
Great for mass storage of large files. I use mine with multiple OS-es installed with a grub menu loader...so I carry around a very compact recovery kit. Much easier than a lugging around a laptop to repair or swap large files...particularly on the fly. I go fishing and camping also, the I don't have to worry about crushing it or getting it "damp." Perfect Key ring addition. I've only had it for a few days, but after putting it through its paces I'm happy so far..
- Cons: Transfer rate is a bit slow over USB 2.0...I wouldn't recommend using it for a "backup disk" or for keeping databases, large programs, partitions or on it.
I would've given it 5 eggs, if the rubber grip/gromit hadn't come loose within ten minutes out of the packing. Also, not a big deal, but the rubber seal around the base of the actual drive to seal the tube is a bit "iffy." I imagine it would survive a splash down in a puddle or a couple of seconds in the water...But I don't see it being submerged for very long.
- Other Thoughts: I'm in around machines on watercraft and ships alot. I know it would be a niche market; but it would be nifty to have the outer shell covered in some sort of flotation material or maybe just a float period. Just in case the keys go overboard or are dropped in the woods somewhere (they'd be easy to spot)...just a thought.
Solid Portable Storage
- Pros: The casing is the most solid I have ever seen. As one who uses flash drives regularly, I get tired of stretchy rubber covers and caps that eventually lose their grip and fall off in the parking lot somewhere when you go for your keys. Plastic caps get worn as well and come off in your pocket or in some other place...never to be seen again. Transfer rates on this device are solid and quick.
- Cons: It is a little larger than I thought it would be, but realistically for the type of casing and the fact that a USB port is already about an inch wide, not much can be done about that. It's not TOO big...just makes a keychain somewhat bulky if you carry keys in your pocket much.
- Other Thoughts: To those of you who are complaining about transfer rates, there are several things to consider before blaming the flash drive. First of all, your computer's OS. As soon as I got this flash drive I formatted it using a notebook with WinXP Pro. Took maybe 2 minutes. I then hooked it to my desktop running Vista Ultimate. Started the same exact format...waited about 5 minutes and the progress bar finally clicked over one notch. There are also other things to consider when transferring files like network latency (for non-local transfers), hard drive speed and fragmentation, how much free memory and processor resources are available to devote to the transfer: background processes that are taking up resources are going to kill anything. If you only reboot your computer every time the power goes off at your house...maybe look at that before you bash the flash!
