The 16GB Flash Voyager GT features Corsair's proprietary all-rubber housing, which offers previously unheard-of durability! In true geek fashion, several third-party reviewers have subjected the Flash Voyager GT to laundering, baking, freezing, boiling, substantial drops, even run it over with an SUV, and it continues to work! We obviously do not recommend that you subject your Voyager GT to such abuse, but it's good to know that it can easily withstand the rigors of living at the bottom of your briefcase, purse, or desk drawer!
The Flash Voyager USB 2.0 drive is stylish, compact, and reliable, so you know you can trust it with your MP3s, digital images, presentations and other critical data. This GT model is optimized for speed in up- and downloading. The included TrueCrypt security software enables AES-256-bit encryption, and hidden and password protected partitions. When you need to know your data is safe, no matter what, the Flash Voyager GT offers you security and peace of mind!

Not a "GT"
- Pros: large capacity, fast and cheap shipping by newegg
- Cons: Slow, comparatively expensive (though not too bad), started failing within two weeks. Previous Corsair GT Flash drives used SLC flash chips and were very fast and reliable. This new one uses MLC chips, which are the standard for the market, though they are slower and less reliable than SLC. I consider it to be fraudulent on Corsair's part to give this drive the GT branding and GT colors. It's nothing like the old GTs.
- Other Thoughts: Won't buy Corsair again. Changing the fundamental properties in a product line so drastically without informing the customers is a bad move. Buy any other 16gb flash drive on newegg instead, it's the same thing and cheaper.
Just another MLC drive
- Pros: Not bad for MLC flash.
- Cons: Performance is nowhere close to old SLC GT drives.
Corsair named it GT without specifying that it is no longer SLC and performance is nowhere close to old 8GB version.
- Other Thoughts: I rated it poor for what it appears to be.
Corsair should not call it GT, it is misleading at best. I have second flash after RMA with Corsair. It is even worse than first one. In best cases writes are still at ~8MB/s but reads dropped to 23MB/s (from 29MB/s with previous unit).

MLC Mediocrity ... if it lasts!
- Pros: - It's red, like vampire blood!
- It's rubberized, so your extremely likely RMA will be more in your favor because the OEM cannot claim you dropped their rubbery drive and broke it intentionally. - Newegg, as always, a quality merchant who offers the integrity of unbiased consumer reviews.
- Cons: - Typical mediocre at best MLC drive, marketed fraudulently as high-performance product.
- Rubbery exterior is bulbous and impossible to fit into a USB slot next to another USB device. - Cap is not attached in any way, and easily lost. - Rubberize your products to protect child-like butterfingers consumers. - Corsair flash drives fail after a few weeks at best. - Drives benchmark poorly in comparison to others in same category, especially when drive is dead. - Would never, ever buy Corsair flash drives again, based on exceedingly poor performance.
- Other Thoughts: Corsair, can we say cl@ss-@ction? I have lost most of my important text files (resumes, etc.) because of the failure rate of your flash products. I did have extra backups, but no other flash products have failed me quicker and more often than Corsair products. Shameful!
On another note, I would still recommend and buy your system memory, however, because quality is different.
An embarassment to the GT name
- Pros: 16GB of space is nothing to sneeze at. Corsair has excellent tech support/customer service and they almost encourage RMAs. 10 year warranty is awesome and they stand behind their product.
- Cons: SLOW SLOW SLOW! Did I mention slow? This drive should have NEVER had the GT moniker attached to it, because it is NOT in the same class as the 1,2,4 & 8GB Voyager GT drives. It took me over 2.5 hours to move 5.6GB of data to this drive on a Windows XP machine. I did it on an 8GB Voyager GT in about 10 minutes.
- Other Thoughts: I originally purchased an 8GB Flash Voyager GT from Newegg on 12/07. Drive was fast as hell and rugged--no complaints at all. However, after nine months it died and since it is out of production, Corsair RMA'd it and sent me a 16GB GT as a replacement. It is horrendously slow compared to the 8GB model. Like others have pointed out, the flash chips on the 16GB version are different and that is why there is such a speed difference. You can't even use this drive to run Portable Apps off of it--too slow for Thunderbird or Firefox. I'm going to have to go back to a U3 drive now. I spoke with a supervisor who said they do have a very limited supply of 8GB GTs and he was going to try and score one for me to swap out for my 16GB. My fingers are crossed!
SLOW SLOW SLOW
- Pros: high capacity
- Cons: This thing is terribly slow. I got it as an RMA replacement from Corsair when my 8GB Voyager GT bit the dust. This 16GB version is twice as slow as the 8GB version. Don't even consider running PortableApps on it. Like the previous poster, running Firefox off it us unbearable and it takes forever to copy files to and from it.
My wifes 2GB Sandisk Cruzer Mini that I bought from Walmart blows this thing away.
I'm selling it on E*b*a*y and going back to Walmart for a Sandisk.
