Trash: too slow to even use
- Pros: None
- Cons: SLOWEST WRITE SPEED I HAVE EVER SEEN ON A FLASH DRIVE
(I'm a software consultant traveling from customer to customer who's owned 30+ Flash drives over the years.)
FAT32 Speeds: Read: 24.77 MB/second Write: 7.13 MB/second
NTFS Speeds: Read: 22.47 MB/second Write: 1.68 MB/second (if the computer didn't crash)
Unusable in practical terms. Causes Explorer to crash on any fully-loaded Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 R2 machine it's plugged into.
Has the unique ability to bring 64 GB RAM-equipped SQL Servers to their knees.
- Other Thoughts: I am our company's VMware expert, so I regularly zip up numerous 15 GB virtual machines to a size of 4-9 GB each and ship sets of them to people (40-100 GB total). I purchased 2 of these in the fall of 2008 in order to store these VM's rather than having to use dozens of DL-DVD's per shipment. For a drive this size, I considered it perfectly normal to format as NTFS, which apparently is where the problems began.
The write speeds were so slow the bogged even my fastest computers. After three coworkers complained about failed transfers, I abandoned the idea and had to download special utilities in order to reformat as FAT32. Even then, write speeds were so slow any computer would bog.
These were both the slowest Flash drives I've ever owned, and I currently have around 15. Words cannot describe how slow these are. Not only are they huge, but they're slower per byte transferred, rendering them utterly useless in practical terms.
Voyager 64GB bon Voyage
- Pros: Massive storage...the understatement; Rubber shell is an outstanding pro. Corsair will replace rubber caps at consumer's request.
- Cons: The entire flash drive is too long; it is cumbersome, and is liable to get in the way feet and legs in an office setting, where the computer is on the floor. Rubber cap could be connected to the beaded chain, to keep from loosing them.
May burnout within a year, mine lasted six months.
- Other Thoughts: My Corsair Voyager 64 GB is being UPSed back to Corsair as I type this caveat. I do hope that Corsair creates a fix to to this issue. This is a large and convenient storage device, I would confidently recommend to friends and readers...IF... Corsair fixes this catastrophic failure issue. Back up your data!
Disgustingly Slow
- Pros: Lotsa room to store stuff IF it was faster
- Cons: This is disgustingly slow. Pick another.
- Other Thoughts: Will never buy Corsair flash products again. Neither flash drive nor SSD. Bye.
