1 out of 5 eggsTOO BIG

Pros: 64GB

Cons: WAY TOO BIG to be useful for most people I think

Other Thoughts: This should be only for extreme duty applications (outdoors, farming, etc.)

Manufacturer Response:

This drive is designed to be extremely durable and has a rugged housing to accomplish this. As such, the size is a necessity and has no bearing on the product performance.

4 out of 5 eggsImpervious when closed, delicate when in use

Pros: I bought this after a third flash drive in a row was destroyed by being carried in my pocket with my keys. This drive 100% solved that problem, with the cap *attached* (the cap attaches using a method where the drive and the cap are twisted in opposite directions, and interlocking threads on each piece tighten. Newegg won't let me use the word for that type of attachment because it is "improper and unsuitable for submission. will not post reviews which contain obscene and/or potentially offensive language.") on this thing is practically indestructible. I haven't dropped it off a building or run my car over it (though there are online review sites that have, and they didn't damage it either) but it's survived six months or so of treatment that destroyed, as in snapped the casing and broke the connector off, three other thumb drives.

Cons: The time this drive is most at risk of snapping the connector off is when it's plugged in. This thing is looooong, it sticks way out form the USB port, and the length only multiplies the pull of the extra weight from the heavy-duty casing. Use the cable when you can.

Other Thoughts: It does what I bought it for, which is survive sharing a pocket with my keys. If you need something heavy-duty that can survive being thrown off a building or run over with a truck, this is perfect. If you don't need that, there are far cheaper 64gig flash drives available.

1 out of 5 eggsSolid data, not so solid housing

Pros: I am very happy with the speeds I get for both reading and writing.
Is not so large as to cover adjacent ports as other 64GB drives do.
I have had many good experiences with Corsair products., as always, is awesome.

Cons: The housing does not feel nearly as solid as my old Survivor 32GB. I am not sure I trust it.
Started to fall apart after slightly one week of ownership while being kept in its protective housing on a stationary shelf in my apartment. RMA'ed and on their way back. Since this has happened to two of them I am assuming this is not just bad luck.

Other Thoughts: You can not tell from the image(s) but these are really long. Not a con due to the fact that the guts need to be stuffed somewhere and I would prefer this over it covering other ports.
My data, although I back up religiously, is not replaceable. Any defect at all that may lead to data loss will not be tolerated. If I do not feel I can rely on the construction of my pen drives I can not use them.

In many aspects not a bad product but it has given me reason to think my data was not safe and is thus useless regardless of its many pros. If Corsair fixes the construction issue and uses the same casing as the 32GB used I would gladly buy more than one version 2.0.

5 out of 5 eggsExpensive, but it's the best

Pros: I'm still trying to figure out why I bought this thing; but it delivers the transfer rates I needed. High quality construction and I like the fact that it's fire proof.

Cons: It's a bit bulky to be honest with you. It comes with a USB jump cable; I use this instead of plugging into the PC's because it's so long and heavy that it actually falls out of the USB slot.

Other Thoughts: Very fast, very durable, but very costly.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I like the construction of this device it seems to be very durable and will not cause an issue in my pocket or other safe keep places. 64.5 gig formatted using Apple Disk Utility with Mac OS Extended Partitioning.

Cons: The length of the device is about the size of 2 chap stick containers glues together. Another major flaw is that the key ring loop is on the wrong side of the device which means when you untwist the device to connect your keys are coming along for the ride which is the reason for the 4 eggs

Other Thoughts: Fast speeds read and write perfect for quickly transmitting data on the go.

4 out of 5 eggsCorsair Survivor GTR 64GB USB drive

Pros: High capacity; no need to carry multiple USB drives unless you just want to. THis thing has nearly as much storage space as the OEM drive on my laptop.

Cons: Size! The concept is good by enclosing it in an aluminum tube, but it takes up too much space. Transfers are fast for large, single files. Like most USB drives, it doesn't do very well with many small files. It's nearly 5" long, so it really sticks out of your USB port. be carefull when working around it or you or someone will break off the connector.

Other Thoughts: A Dog tag is included? Why?
