The Corsair Force Series SSD product line offers maximum performance for your ultimate system with up to a maximum read speed of 285MB/s and write speed of 275MB/s. If speed is what you are looking for and what you expect from your performance or gaming system the Corsair Force Series SSD's are the perfect choice.

Based on the SandForce SF-1200 SSD Processor, the Corsair Force Series SSD's are the ultimate performance drive for your demanding storage requirements. Choose from the F40, F60, F80, F120, F160 or F240 drive for the highest performance and density. Your system will start-up faster, applications and games will load quicker and you will see a huge improvement in overall system responsiveness.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Unlike traditional hard disk drives, SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in a quiet, cool, highly reliable storage solution that also offers faster application loading and system responsiveness. And for laptops and netbooks, the lower power needs of SSD’s translate to extended battery life. Higher performance with more durability means you can be truly mobile with confidence.
  • newegg Better Performance Built with MLC NAND flash and the latest generation SandForce SF1200 controller featuring award winning DuraClass Technology, the Corsair Force Series F120 SSD (CSSD-F120GB2-BRKT) delivers world-class SSD reliability, performance, and power efficiency, with maximum sequential read speed of 285 MB/s and maximum sequential write speed of 275 MB/s, plus incredible random 4K write performance of 50,000 IOPS (4K aligned).
  • newegg TRIM Support The Corsair Force Series SSD’s offer TRIM support than can be enabled in Windows 7. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command. To learn how to enable TRIM support in Windows 7, visit: http://blog.corsair.com/?p=3468.
  • newegg 2.5" to 3.5" Adapter Included The Corsair Force Series F120 SSD is specifically designed for notebook computers coming in a 2.5-inch hard drive form factor. In addition, the installation kit includes a 2.5" to 3.5" bracket for matching with 3.5” drive bay to extend the storage of your desktop computer.

3 out of 5 eggsBad controller from Sandforce, good support from Corsair

Pros: Worked for 2 years in an old PC. Corsair honored the RMA to replace the defective drive.

Cons: Doesn't work in new Haswell-based chipsets. This is due to a problem with the Sandforce SF-1000 series controllers used in many early SSDs, not just Corsair's. The SF-1000 series controllers weren't designed to proper SATA spec, and as a result cause intermittent drive recognition errors with modern motherboards (which more tightly regulate power to the drive).

Other Thoughts: Kudos to Corsair for owning up to the problem and replacing my drive with a newer one based on a different controller.

Boo to Sandforce for designing a faulty controller and doing nothing to fix / support it once the cat got out of the bag. Just say no to drives based on Sandforce controllers.

2 out of 5 eggsFast and Dead

Pros: Fast performance for its time.

Cons: Died without warning. Went from absolutely normal performance to being completely dead overnight.

Other Thoughts: The drive was within warranty when it died. It will get +/- one star depending on how Corsair handles it.

2 out of 5 eggsForce Series™ F120 Solid-State Hard Drive

Pros: Fast

Cons: Dead without any notice. One minute it was fine, the next, dead. Never seen anything like it at all in 30 years of drives. At least a disc based HD warns you it's about to go.

3 out of 5 eggsFast, but does not last

Pros: Fast. I've enjoyed the quick boot times, and quick loads for over a year.

Cons: I've been bitten by the bug. The drive failed, but I had a WD raptor as a back up for all my important stuff, so just inconvient.

Other Thoughts: I knew the risk going into the purchase, and for over a year I was loving it. Kept a back up just because of the reputation for failure. Glad I did.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible SSD

Pros: None since it's so unreliable!

Cons: Many many many well documented issues with these SSD.
Basically they tend to disappear from the system causing all types of BSOD's and explorer lock ups.
RMA'ed it and Corsair sent me a newer SATAIII model...with the same exact issues!

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and don't buy Corsair SSD's (all of their other stuff is great). I own G-Skill, Samsung and Intel SSD's and only the Corsair ones have these severe issues!
It's NOT the controller because G-Skill uses the exact same.
Also, SSD support for Corsair is relegated to a user run forum!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: I bought this SSD more than a year ago for my i7 laptop and i love it. No problems with it.
Once you try SSD you never go back.
Speed is as advertised, near 300mb/s read and write.
It doesn't make noise and turbulence like old drives did.
Because it doesn't have moving parts, it saves battery.
Boot speed is less then 20 seconds on windows 7 and restart is less then 30 seconds

Cons: It doesn't support sleep mode and it crashes most of the time when try to activate it(blue screen) but none of the ssd support it. Not really a cons, since the boot time is so fast, shutdown can be used instead of sleeping mode.

Other Thoughts: I was using my laptop with an external portable 500gb usb 2.0 hard drive. Now i'm looking for an external enclosure that supports USB 3.0 then i will make my SSD drive external, to fully benefit from USB 3.0 technology. It's place will take a 240gb newer and faster SSD

2 out of 5 eggsWouldn't buy again

Pros: Faster than a hard drive.

Cons: Bought 5, 3 had problems within a couple months. One died after 8 months, and was replaced under warranty; now the warranty replacement appears to have died--after about 7 months. I'm regretting decision to go with SSDs, or at least Corsair; hard drive would have been slower but probably more reliable.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 17 months!

Pros: Works fine until if fails.

Cons: This SSD failed hard and NONE of the data was recoverable. This seldom, if ever, happens with hard drives.

Other Thoughts: It will take weeks to rebuild the system and right now, I am thinking it won't have an SSD in it at all. This technology isn't ready for prime-time. How can you trust your system and data to a device like this?

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsFailed After Just 1 Year

Pros: Works pretty well - before it fails.

Cons: Failed irretrievably after 1 year 1 month.

Other Thoughts: I've been lucky to never have a hard drive fail on me so far - until now. The drive worked well - while it worked. And then it failed, and I had to do a warranty replace, after a relatively short time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Great little drive, very fast and reliable. Had mine over a year now with no issues with the drive itself. Read and write rates as advertised. I just wish I could get another one for less than $100 (they are about 200-300 now for whatever reason) so I could do a RAID 0 set up. I will stick with Corsair for all my SSD drives from now on because of this spectacular product. Only regret is I didn't get a bigger one because I can only fit about 4 games on it (World of Warcraft, Assassins Creed II, Assassins Creed Revelations, and Star Wars: The Old Republic), but that's not a con, just due to the size of the drive.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If you are running Windows 7 (which you should if you have an SSD) you will see that the space free may be slightly less to substantially less than it should be if you select all on the C: and right click and go to properties. This is because of your pagefile and your hiberfil.sys file. If you have a ton of RAM you will notice much less free space than you should have (because your pagefile defaults to your RAM size and you hiberfil.sys is also the size of your RAM. To get this space back, you need to reduce your pagefile size and then disable your hibernation (powercfg -h off) to reclaim this space). In my case, because I have 16GB of RAM, I saw that I had 32GB less free space than I should. It took a lot of searching to figure this out, so I hope many people can benefit from this review. I would assume this would hold true for Windows XP, if you dare run it with an SSD.

If you are running Vista, UPGRADE. Vista is Microsoft's failure OS LOL.
