4 out of 5 eggsData Loss / Corrupt Files

Pros: none

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: For those that have lost files or others who may not know. Any removable storage has a setting in Windows 7-8, not sure about XP, that can be switched between the performance mode or portable mode. The difference being the speed of file transfer. If set to maximum performance you will be required to eject the media prior to removal, otherwise data loss/corruption may occur. To access the settings. Right click "My Computer" on the desktop, select manage, under storage + disk management, select the thumbdrive in the pane to the right. Right click and select properties, select the hardware tab, select the thumbdrive and click properties, select the Polices tab, and there you will find the settings along with a description of what they do. Hope this helps.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product - Why aren't there more of these?

Pros: Secures my data, works on everything I've plugged it into, no software or elevated privileges required.

Cons: Average speeds, no 32GB available.

Other Thoughts: I wish Corsair would followup with higher capacities and USB 3.0

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate: Worked then Failed

Pros: This is just an update to a previous post that I can not find yet. My drive failed after a month and is past the Newegg replacment but Corsair approved a replacment right away for the issues.

Cons: Will update if I have any issues with the new drive from Corsair.

1 out of 5 eggsWas great then Failed

Pros: Easy to use, can unlock on any system and no need for software.

Cons: Failed after a month of use. Now after I unlock the device and plug it in, no computer is able to read it and then the red and green padlock lights start flashing. I have tried on several different machines with no luck. It is now past the eligability of replacment from newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: I really don't want to go through all the effort and really test the security of the device, but as far as I can tell it does what it is supposed to. I needed a secured drive and wasn't going to spend crazy money on a key made of iron (I know its certified and that gives them the ability to mark up the price.) And compared to keys made of iron, I can use this on my Droid Bionic Lapdock.

Cons: Newegg's page says this has a 10 year warranty by Corsair, but Corsair's page says 3 years... I seem to have bad luck with USB drives as they die just after a year (lots of use, last drive data is only partially readable and took a few days to copy what data I could get) and the 10 year warranty is really what caught my eye.

Other Thoughts: I wish Newegg would double check their accuracy of their page. They are generally one of the more accurate sites.
learning curve on the button interface and light flashes... Manual could also be better about explaining a feature or two. Its missing key details that would be very helpful to know...

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Flash Drive

Pros: Hardware encryption, ease of use.

Cons: None other than please make 32GB+ ones.

Other Thoughts: I use this drive every day in Linux boxes and often have to take it to different Windows boxes (xp, vista, 7). I've never had any problem reading/writing from any of them.

4 out of 5 eggsDigital Safe

Pros: Works well, despite what others have said about this drive I have not had any problems with it. This drive is my digital safe and has treated me well so far. I recommend this drive

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Should have got the 32GB one

1 out of 5 eggsMust be formatted error

Pros: This is a great design with an easy to use encryption process.

Cons: I receive a notice that the drive is not formatted every time it connects to some 64 bit Windows 7 systems. It can be formatted with no problems then runs on that system until it's been inserted into another PC. Then the notice to format occurs again. At that point it can be read on any XP or Win7 system, but get's the format error when placed back in the 64 bit system. Corsair support just says it's broken and to send it back. THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A QUALITY CONTROL PROBLEM AND DON'T CARE. IT MAKES ME WANT TO PURCHASE FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTURER AFTER USING CORSAIR EXCLUSIVELY FOR 3 YEARS.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Flash Drive

Pros: 256bit Hardware-based encryption.
Rubber coated exterior resists drop damage.
Very easy to understand and use; enter your code on the the usb drive, push the button and the green lights lets you know its open. It has an internal battery to activate the keys and lights before plugging into a usb port; charges via usb.
Can add a master password, as well as a user password, great for recovering data from lost passwords, for businesses with IT departments.
Requires no additional software and works on XP and Win7. Acts like a normal flash drive when unlocked.

Cons: The rubber cap can get lost easily after you take it off.
Maximum size is 16gb, wish they had a 32gb.

Other Thoughts: I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews about issues others have had. I have tried to replicate the problems of data loss and I can not do it. I use this on WinXP Pro and Win7 with no problems; I dont even tell Windows that im unplugging it, I just pull it out.

There is a detailed manual on their website: http://www.corsair.com/media/cms/manual/PadlockUserManual.pdf
