5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems After 3 Years

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: -Still works great after about 3 years of use.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought theses about 3 years ago for a gaming rig and have served me well with no problems. Getting 2 more to bump me up to 16GB. I have a Mini-Tower with an atx board and a giant heat sink and have never run into any space issues with them.

3 out of 5 eggs4 Years later

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: Used to worked fine, good speed

Cons: Pretty bulky to fit in, Heat sinks fragile

Other Thoughts: After 4 years in a couple of different PC's these appear to have died. The heatsinks are no longer adhering to the chips, and the card lifts out of the socket. My PC randomly started to crash with these in, I could not even get to the POST screen after crashes. I would reseat the memory and all would be well - for a few weeks, or months but eventually it would dump again.

5 out of 5 eggsGood RAM

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: Bought this RAM to get my rig up and running. Ran into budget issues, and ended up keeping this RAM for over a year in my rig. During that time it actually meet if not exceeded my expectations. Worked like RAM should (sit there and not die)

Cons: Heat spreaders are large. May have to flip your CPU cooler if you are using air to make room for the giant fins.

Other Thoughts: Paired with a Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z5S mobo, and worked great. Enabled XMP mode, and was @ running 1600 in no time.

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: Looks nice. One stick performs good.

Cons: Had a stick die in less than 48 hours.

Other Thoughts: First time i bought something other than G.Skill and i get faulty ram. Makes me laugh though because the back of the packaging says "Built using only select dram ic's, SCREENED and TESTED for PERFORMANCE and RELIABILITY, vengeance memory delivers speed, STABILITY and compatibility." Yet mine was dead in under 48 hours. Now i get to pay to ship it back. Thanks Corsair.

5 out of 5 eggsLife saver for my gaming rig

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: Bought 2 sets of these (total 4x4GB) to replace 4x4GB lower end Corsairs that I bought when I built my gaming rig a few years back (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233190) They started failing while playing SWTOR (no idea why that game is so darn sensitive to ANY hardware issues)

Anyways, these Vengeance series were the perfect opportunity for me to up my RAM and utilize 1600 speeds on my EVGA Z77 FTW board.

Simple install. I stupidly forgot to clear CMOS, so the board complained and screamed at me LOL But the clear did the trick. No hassles. I left them at the default 1600, no overclocking for me. Just remember to enable the XMP profile.

I ran memtest on them and all came back clear.

SWTOR is happy and I'm happy.

I'm going to order these to replace the same older Corsairs on my video editing rig (same motherboard) when/if they go bad.

Cons: None so far! We'll see if SWTOR tears these things to pieces. It's been almost a month of heavy usage. No problems so far! :3

1 out of 5 eggsFails Row Hammer Test

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: Speed, price

Cons: Fails Memtest86 row hammer test (#13). Random 1 bit flips can be caused in neighboring rows under certain conditions. Read the discussion on the Memtest86 site to decide if you can put up with this design flaw.

Brand new ASUS Z97-E MB sees this as 1333 speed memory, have to manually change the speed in the Bios.

Other Thoughts: Only ran Memtest86 because I was unhappy about having to set the memory speed manually and wanted to make sure there was not a problem. It passed all but the Hammer test at the 1600 speed. I'm going to try memory from another company.
