5 out of 5 eggsGood drives and customer service. Ignore 1 star reviews for DOA units

Pros: Firs off please don't get put off by people who place 1 star reviews for a DOA unit as those reviews don't give a fair view of actual performance of the drive. My friend has owned a 256GB Corsair SSD for over 2 years and it's had great performance. He just now is getting bad sectors on the drive and calling OCZ support they're replacing his 2 year old SSD with a new Force Performance 3 SSD. Great going Corsair.

Cons: Ignorant people who put up 1 star reviews for DOA units. All manufactures have them, it happens.

Other Thoughts: Corsair sells solid products with great overall quality and performance and excellent r service.

1 out of 5 eggsDIED

Pros: Fancy. Big. Runs very, very fast.

Cons: Had the same issues as others. Dreaded rebooting my computer after a week, until a blue screen forced me to. Hung at the Windows logo, and would never hit the login screen. Reformatted once a week about three times, then installed a new drive. Had no issues since.

Other Thoughts: Past the 30 day mark for a Newegg RMA. Hopefully Corsair will honor the warranty and RMA me a different drive.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear CT,

We're sorry to hear that the SSD drive is causing issues. We'll be more than happy to replace the drive for you, please visit our Support page to fill out an RMA.

Thank you,
Corsair Customer Support

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Quick while it worked, nice size for an SSD.

Cons: I used this drive for approx 2 months before it began freezing for brief periods of time which got longer and longer to the point of windows crashing. Sent this drive back to Corsair only to get a refurb in the mail. After sending it in I emailed them twice for a status update as they had received it about 10 ago and not updated me on the status. I finally had to call and they rep said it was backordered. I finally get the replacement drive back, but I don't know what kind of company replaces a $400 drive that is two months old with a refurb and expects to keep anyones business. I emailed them complaining about this, and they send me a standard copy email with the warranty attached. I'm well aware they can replace drives with refurbs, but that is just pathetic imo. I will never purchase a corsair ssd, nor would I ever recommend them to a client.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted 3 Months

Pros: Meh

Cons: Followup on the 5 Eggs review below, mine is now behaving as the other reviewer described.

Cons:
Periodically locks up (without crashing) with disk light stuck on. Got to the point that the freezes were so long Windows could not recover, a few of those later and Windows won't boot.

Manufacturer Response:

We're sorry you had this issue. Please RMA the drive and we'll replace it.

1 out of 5 eggsGARBAGE

Pros: Consistent speeds in HDTach

Cons: 1. Slower than my OCZ Vertex II
2. Periodically locks up (without crashing) with disk light stuck on
2.a. Their recommendation is to secure erase to fix it.
2.b. After doing that, the issue occurred AGAIN, 2 months later.

Other Thoughts: Corsair blocks the words "OCZ" and "VERTEX" from their forums for a reason... because other companies make other SSD's.

I'm going to replace this drive with one from another company, and put this junk in the laptop that collects dust under my desk at work.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Well

Pros: Very noticeable upgrade from a 7,200 rpm drive. Plenty of room for OS and a few games. Load times pretty much gone now.

Quite a few people saying these are failing quickly on them, but so far no issues with the one I've got after a week or two.

Cons: Packaging and appearance don't seem like they belong on a $500 drive.

1 out of 5 eggsGARBAGE

Pros: Fast when it worked.

Cons: I picked this up from a retailer in town.
The drive died 5 days (almost to the minute) later.
My OS froze, I rebooted, and everything just hung on the "Start" screen.
I managed to get it mounted externally on a Linux laptop I have as a spare... plenty of errors with disk utility.
I tried repartitioning and formatting and it finally died.
nothing recognizes it.

Other Thoughts: STAY AWAY!
In fact, I recommend waiting until an SSD comes out and gets nothing but 500-1000 100% reviews after a year of use... other than that, you're flipping a coin.
This product doesn't deserve one egg.

Manufacturer Response:

You may simply have gotten a bad drive in which case, we'll replace it. Unfortunately failures do occur in any product with semiconductors inside. Contact Link attached.

1 out of 5 eggsKABOOM

Pros: Faster than my old OCZ Vertex 2 (but not as fast as advertised... STILL FAST, though)

Cons: After 2.75 months, it's failing hard.
Spent 12 hours last weekend reinstalling windows, etc.... not wanting to admit my SATA-III SSD was biting the big one, but, as I'm trying to clone my OS onto my old SATA-II SSD, all of the read errors are unignorable... it's dying after <3 months.

I did everything I was supposed to... didn't defrag, disabled superfetch, disabled page file (have 16 gigs of ram, so who needs it!)

Going to be inquiring about a replacement, because this is some bull.

Other Thoughts: Beware of SSDs made by companies with more than 3 letters in their name, or whose name doesn't rhyme with "shmintel"... IMO

Manufacturer Response:

All manufacturers have drives that fail occasionally which is unavoidable in any device using semiconductors. We'd like to replace your drive for you and we're sorry you had an issue.

4 out of 5 eggscompatibility

Pros: this is not really a review, more like a question, is this ssd compatible with the asus p6t motherboard?

Cons: ?
