The Corsair 25nm-based Force Series SSD product line (model number that ends in "-A") offers maximum performance for your ultimate system with up to a maximum read speed of 280MB/s and write speed of 270MB/s. Based on the SandForce controller and the next generation 25nm IC technology, the Corsair Force Series SSD's are the ultimate performance drive for your demanding storage requirements. Your system will start-up faster, applications and games will load quicker and you will see a huge improvement in overall system responsiveness. If speed is what you are looking for and what you expect from your performance or gaming system, the Corsair Force Series SSD's are the perfect choice.

  • newegg SSD Storage Technology Unlike traditional hard disk drives, SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in a quiet, cool, highly reliable storage solution that also offers faster application loading and system responsiveness. And for laptops and netbooks, the lower power needs of SSD’s translate to extended battery life. Higher performance with more durability means you can be truly mobile with confidence.
  • newegg Better Performance Built with MLC NAND flash and the latest generation SandForce controller, the Corsair Force Series F80A delivers world-class SSD reliability, performance, and power efficiency, with maximum sequential read speed of 280 MB/s and maximum sequential write speed of 270 MB/s, plus incredible random 4K write performance of 50,000 IOPS (4K aligned).
  • newegg TRIM Support The Corsair Force Series SSD’s offer TRIM support than can be enabled in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg 2.5" to 3.5" Adapter Included The Corsair Force Series features a standard 2.5-inch form factor for compatibility with notebooks and select desktops. A 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch mounting bracket is included with the SSD for compatibility with standard hard drive mounting.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted just over a year

Pros: Made an older laptop feel new again for a year, then died.

Cons: Just completely stopped working after 1 year and 3 months. No warning, went to restart for something and received a "No bootable device" message. No response from the drive since. Even tried it via an external enclosure and another laptop, no dice.

1 out of 5 eggsDied within 6 months

Pros: Fairly fast

Cons: Not reliable

Other Thoughts: I had sensitive data on this and needed to eat the cost rather than sending it in for an RMA. There didn't seem to be any way to reset the drive myself. Total loss. Hidden cost.

1 out of 5 eggsNot reliable

Pros: Quick bootup
Quick loading

Cons: Stopped working after 4 months

Other Thoughts: I was told, by a Corsair tech, with SSD's to not let them get too full. Also may need to do a backup of the drive and then wipe every 12 months just to refresh MBR. They are less reliable than IDE's.

Manufacturer Response:

Just to clarify, ANY drive, SSD, HDD, etc will slow significantly after it is approximately 85% full. This is not limited to only SSDs. And, backups are a good idea with any drive, regardless of type. This has no bearing on the reliability or performance of the SSD.

1 out of 5 eggsHard lock windows 7

Pros: Fast - easy to install

Cons: Bought this about a month ago. Works fine but after about 2 hours of idle. System hard locks. Running Windows 7. Disabled all required items necessary for SSD - Superfetch, defrag, etc. Still causes hard locks after about 2 hours of inactivity.

Manufacturer Response:

We're sorry you had the issue. If you'd like our help troubleshooting, please contact us. We'll assist and if necessary, we'll happily replace the drive for you.

1 out of 5 eggsDEAD within a YEAR - BAD CS

Pros: Not much

Cons: Died within a year. Contacted Corsair as all these drives have 3 year warranty, never get any RMA back (submitted multiple requests to get an RMA). Still sitting with a dead HD that is too lite to even be a paperweight.

5 out of 5 eggsbetter

Pros: has worked solidly for the last 9 months I've owned it. I work on my computer and am on it daily for 8+ hours.

Cons: hdd bracket could have been better. mine doesnt work with my p180 case, but it's sdd, so i can just tape it somewhere and it'll still work like a champ :)

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive... When It's Working

Pros: Very fast, 7.8 WEI, all the other usual SSD benefits.

Cons: 1st drive worked great for a little over a month... then it died. Would be detectable by BIOS after a cold boot, but Windows would freeze while booting. After a warm boot, completely undetectable. I had all power saving and hibernation/sleep options off from the start, so that wasn't the cause in my case.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd with Corsair, got a replacement drive in about a week. Since it's just an OS + app drive, just had the headache of reinstalling all my programs and the OS, but didn't lose any personal data. Here's hoping this one doesn't die too. I really do love this thing when it's working...

2 out of 5 eggsUpdate to my first review

Pros: fast, light, power savings

Cons: drive has failed 2 times in 3 months

(Update: Corsair has informed me that when using an SSD drive with a "Force" controller, I guess ether manufactures have this issue too, you must turn off any power setting that will shut-off power to the SSD drive; like during hibernation or power-savings)

Other Thoughts: I really think this information, about turning off hibernation or you'll likely destroy your SSD drive in a month, needs to be expressed to the customer better. In-fact, I think there needs to be a BIG FAT RED STICKER informing the user about the possible loss of data if not addressed properly. I should have, at least, been informed of the problem when my first SSD drive fail and got replaced; it've saved me some serious headache!!

It is also recommended that you turn off any "quick-boot" function you might be running within your computers bios settings. BIOS SETTINGS = holding your 'delete key' down while booting into Windows; maybe press it repeatedly while booting - that's what I do :)
