1 out of 5 eggsLasted 7 months

Pros: It was fast, before it died.

Cons: When it died, just trying to access certain files (even from a USB adapter) would make the machine think it had been pulled out. Returned to Corsair, waited 2 weeks. Finally mailed them about where my replacement was. Got it three days later: it was a "refurbished" unit. Great. Installed it. Constant BSOD and hangs. Not worth it to go through that pain again to return it, so I got another brand.

Other Thoughts: I think the above tells the story pretty well. Are SSDs really ready for general use?

1 out of 5 eggsBe Careful

Pros: Fast, Quiet and Inexpensive (in comparison)

Cons: Died in under 6 months of operation

Other Thoughts: I was very happy with the performance of the SSD at first, but today it died. I have used it for less than 6 months, and until now there were no issues.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Skiz,

We're sorry for the inconvenience, please fill out an RMA request on our Support Page and we'll be more than happy to replace it for you.

Thank you,
Corsair Customer Support

1 out of 5 eggsdo not use with intel raid

Pros: Does speed up the system. If you do not need to use the intel 10 series storage drivers, then you should be fine.

Cons: I used this product with intel 10 series storage drivers. This was used as a ssd cache drive to speed up the system. I would get the blue screen of death (bsod) a couple of times a week. After taking this drive out of the setup the bsods stopped. This is a known issue to Corsair. However, even the latest firmware update from them will not work with the latest intel drivers.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear bkb,

We're sorry that you're running into issues with our drive. Please contact our Tech Support and we'll help you troubleshoot the issue.

Thank you,
Corsair Customer Support

1 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD, TERRIBLE rebate service

Pros: Drive is incredibly fast and thus far, reliable. Setup was super easy with Windows 7. No problems.

The online customer service representatives I dealt with were helpful, albeit vague and misinformed.

Cons: OK, so the rebate was only for $10. I submitted it a day after receiving the SSD, and got a confirmation email about a week later: my rebate was supposedly being mailed out, and I should expect up to a month for delivery.

One month later, nothing. Give it another two weeks. Nothing. Email Corsair support, they say that they don't know what happened to it, and they will send out a new one. It arrived in the mail two weeks later, but they charged a $6.95 deactivation fee for the old card. They say this is not negotiable, even though I was not told this by the customer service representatives I dealt with over email.

Terrible.

Other Thoughts: +5 for the great SSD.
-4 for the non-existent rebate.

If somebody from Corsair responds to this message, they are lying about their rebates. Their rebate system is horrific.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong after a month

Pros: Here is an update to my previous review. This is by far the fastest SATA II SSD I've used under 60gb. I'm using it with Linux Mint on the / partition and a Samsung 470 128gb for the /home partition. Now my system is much faster that it was with a a single OCZ Agility II 90gb SSD.

Cons: No mounting bracket included. The price came down after I bought it.

Other Thoughts: It's a Keeper!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: Cheap, silent, fast (boots windows in 20 seconds)

this DOES provide enough room for windows 7. I have win 7 ult 64bit running on it and I have 13GB left. Granted I only use this drive for the OS.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: great SSD. Get it.

Very fast, and IS, i repeat IS enough for windows.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Fast SSD

Pros: This SSD is the only ssd i have owned so far and just bought another one from New Egg this week for my intel Q9300 Setup. I have had no problems with the drive in that Asus mATX Nvidia board or my later board = Asrock 990FX Extreme 4 Amd 1100T BE WEI of the drive is at 7.5 to 7.6 , same speed as my memory and Cpu . The bottle neck is my video card a GT 240 WEI of 6.9 , but playing urban terror and Halo pc and web browsing don't need a better video card , maybe this summer I get one maybe. This Corsair SSD 40 is the fastest rated SATA II out there now and does keeps up with the 60 - 64 Gb SSD Sata III most of the time.

Cons: None it is a fast SSD.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: Fast, reliable and low power usage. Great for raid setups!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Using 4 of these in raid 0, a little pre setup is required for ssd drives before hand if you want to get closer to advertised speeds, I write zeros to each drive and use Diskpart to format them to true 128k stripe, if you just use windows to format the drive and install it will be 1024k like a normal drive even if you have set it in your raid settings.
Make sure you do not format it when you install windows after you have it setup correctly. You also need to turn off windows indexing on your ssd drives.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, Lots of IO, and stable

Pros: Fast drives! Everything is very responsive on the CentOS 6.2 system.

The synthetic benchmarks for raid 0 on a hardware raid card were 450 MB/s

I expected a little higher, but can't complain since that's average.

The price is reasonable in my opinion for what you get.

Cons: NULL

Other Thoughts: I would (and did) buy this again :)

4 out of 5 eggsGood but not amazing

Pros: Small, noiseless, cool and very low power consumption. This would be a huge plus in a Laptop configuration.

Cons: Not up to advertised speeds in my admittedly older Intel Socket 775 pc. Terribly slow installing Win7 x64. I thought it must be broken. Also 40Gig is way too small for a complete system drive using Win7 x64.

Other Thoughts: Although this drive was very slow installing Win7, after the installation was complete it ran fine. Actual speed as measured by HD Tach, Burst 189.9MB/sec and 155.6 random read. After Win7 and updates were complete, Antivrus installed, Adobe Reader X, Flash and AIR, and Sandboxie installed I have 16G left. I will have to be VERY careful and move as many data and temp files off this drive as I can. But if this drive is as reliable as the manufacturer claims I will not be disappointed. This is replacing a 2 drive RAID0 array which was much faster and a full TByte in size so I will have to make allowances.
