Step Up To Solid-State Speed with Force Series 3

One of the best PC performance investments you can make.

You'll be amazed at the improvement over traditional hard drive access times the first time you turn on your computer, and for virtually everything you do with your PC. System startup, game and application load times, file loading, data transfers, and even shutdown times are all faster.

Your system will be more responsive, and you'll be more productive.

Add up all the time you spend all day waiting for your computer — starting up, loading game levels, saving large files and documents, and just moving data around — and it can be significant.

Using a PC can be a lot more enjoyable when it's not always making you wait.

The power of SATA 3 6Gb/second performance

The SATA 3 connection on the Force Series 3 offers up to 6Gb/s speed vs. SATA 2 drives that top out at 3Gb/s.

Great for the latest high-performance PCs.

There's fast, and then there's fast. Force Series 3 SSDs have even quicker read and write times when they're installed in PCs that use the latest SATA 3 interface.

Compatible with SATA 2 3Gb/s.

Haven't yet moved to SATA 3? Like all Corsair components, Force Series 3 SSDs are designed to last through several system upgrades. Adding a Force Series 3 today means that you'll still get incredible storage performance now, and your SSD will be ready for your next upgrade.

Force Series 3: Get more for less.

Choosing a Force Series 3 SSD helps your computing budget go farther. Powered by the SandForce SF-2200 controller, they deliver outstanding SATA 3 6Gb/s performance, with prices that are comparable to lower-performance SATA 2 3Gb/s solid-state drives.

Corsair SSDs: Designed for Performance and Durability

Corsair SSDs are 2.5" wide, the same size as notebook hard drives. An adapter is included for mounting in standard desktop PC 3.5" drive bays.

TRIM Support

Force Series 3 SSDs feature support for the Windows® 7 TRIM command. This allows them to store only the data they need and perform memory optimization to ensure the fastest possible write speeds.

Because SSDs have no moving parts, they can handle shock, vibration and temperature changes far in excess of traditional hard drives. That's important for desktop PCs, and essential for notebooks.

Cool and Quiet, with Low Power Consumption

Traditional mechanical hard drives spin at thousands of revolutions per minute. This takes power, and generates noise and heat. Since SSDs have no moving parts, there's no noise or vibration, and the lower power consumption helps keep things cool inside your PC.

3.5" adapter

The 2.5" form factor allows for installation in most notebook PCs with no adapter required. If you're adding a Force Series 3 SSD to your desktop PC, use the included 3.5" adapter to mount it in any standard hard drive bay.

1 out of 5 eggs3 Dead Ducks

Pros: Nice light drives.

Cons: All 3 drives that I ordered are not recognized by the computers I am using here. I have tried in 2 different Dell laptops and a desktop HP. In all cases, the BIOS will not recognize the drives. Even using a USB to SATA cable shows nothing. BIOS set to ACHI, etc...

Other Thoughts: I am confused as to the probability of 3 dead drives.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for 2 years.

Pros: Worked great for 2 years then died.

Cons: Buy two, then back each other up. Expensive.

Other Thoughts: I thought SSD's were supposed to be reliable and long lasting? I've never had a hard drive fail until now and in only 2 years? It is still under warranty but do I want to trust a replacement with my data to something that failed so soon? It's going to cost a bunch to try and retrieve my data which is not covered in the warranty.

2 out of 5 eggsDead

Pros: Fast start up.

Cons: Died after a year. PC won't recognize the drive anymore. For the $170 that it cost me, I would suggest staying away from this one.

5 out of 5 eggsworks

Pros: It is fast, it was a easy install. When I first installed Windows 7 the computer would turn on and be logged on in 6 seconds.

Now the SSD is almost full and it takes about 9 seconds to get to the start scree.

As soon as it's on click away and things open, no waiting for things to load in the background.

I restart my pc maybe once a month, it stays on 24/7 and I have never gotten any Blue Screens of Death in over a year of using this SSD.

Cons: Big enough to hold Windows 7 and some important programs but need more space.

Other Thoughts: On my next purchase I will get a SSD with more space. I did not realize how much space Windows 7 would take up almost 1/3 of the drive space.

I would recommend a 240gb.

1 out of 5 eggsBroke after a year

Pros: Fast. Good deal at the time of purchase.

Cons: Broke after a year. Computer no longer recognizes the drive on a consistent basis. My other SSD in same SATA port works with no issues. Have to restart several times before computer will recognize it. I may have gotten a dud, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Extremely fast while it lasts.

Cons: Since buying this SSD a little less than a year ago, I've had two drive die on me. One second everything is working fine, and the next windows locks up, and the SSD no longer appears in BIOS. First drive lasted around 5 months, and the second made it 6 months before dying. Unfortunately, there is no warning about any sort of problems with the SSD prior to the drive failing completely, so you do not want to store anything important on the drive.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasts

Pros: The drive ran perfectly for the time I had it with no problems at all. Booted fast and always worked.

Cons: This SSD, along with it's many cousins, had a limited run. The drive died on me after 7 months. I knew some drives would crash but I had no idea it would be this soon. I'm going back to good old HDDs.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointment! You will need to replace this drive, it seems.

Pros: This drive is fast and responsive when it works.
The 120 gb hdd is enough to hold most programs and multiple OS.

Cons: The drive died within a year.

Woke up one morning, BIOS does not recognize upon boot, is not recognized by other computers, and now I am at the mercy of the RMA process to get me up and running again.
Unfortunately, I have heard that this is a long process with Corsair, so I may be out of a computer for a while.
I will try to report back when my RMA is complete, so others can know if the experience is a miserable one or not.
If the process is painless, this drive may still be a good buy.
It's up to the customer service now.

But even so -
Do not save anything important and irreplacable on this drive, or you are asking for tears on your pillow.
