Step Up To Solid-State Speed with Force Series 3

One of the best PC performance investments you can make.

You'll be amazed at the improvement over traditional hard drive access times the first time you turn on your computer, and for virtually everything you do with your PC. System startup, game and application load times, file loading, data transfers, and even shutdown times are all faster.

Your system will be more responsive, and you'll be more productive.

Add up all the time you spend all day waiting for your computer — starting up, loading game levels, saving large files and documents, and just moving data around — and it can be significant.

Using a PC can be a lot more enjoyable when it's not always making you wait.

The power of SATA 3 6Gb/second performance

The SATA 3 connection on the Force Series 3 offers up to 6Gb/s speed vs. SATA 2 drives that top out at 3Gb/s.

Great for the latest high-performance PCs.

There's fast, and then there's fast. Force Series 3 SSDs have even quicker read and write times when they're installed in PCs that use the latest SATA 3 interface.

Compatible with SATA 2 3Gb/s.

Haven't yet moved to SATA 3? Like all Corsair components, Force Series 3 SSDs are designed to last through several system upgrades. Adding a Force Series 3 today means that you'll still get incredible storage performance now, and your SSD will be ready for your next upgrade.

Force Series 3: Get more for less.

Choosing a Force Series 3 SSD helps your computing budget go farther. Powered by the SandForce SF-2200 controller, they deliver outstanding SATA 3 6Gb/s performance, with prices that are comparable to lower-performance SATA 2 3Gb/s solid-state drives.

Corsair SSDs: Designed for Performance and Durability

Corsair SSDs are 2.5" wide, the same size as notebook hard drives. An adapter is included for mounting in standard desktop PC 3.5" drive bays.

TRIM Support

Force Series 3 SSDs feature support for the Windows® 7 TRIM command. This allows them to store only the data they need and perform memory optimization to ensure the fastest possible write speeds.

Because SSDs have no moving parts, they can handle shock, vibration and temperature changes far in excess of traditional hard drives. That's important for desktop PCs, and essential for notebooks.

Cool and Quiet, with Low Power Consumption

Traditional mechanical hard drives spin at thousands of revolutions per minute. This takes power, and generates noise and heat. Since SSDs have no moving parts, there's no noise or vibration, and the lower power consumption helps keep things cool inside your PC.

3.5" adapter

The 2.5" form factor allows for installation in most notebook PCs with no adapter required. If you're adding a Force Series 3 SSD to your desktop PC, use the included 3.5" adapter to mount it in any standard hard drive bay.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Long Term Reliability

Pros: As an SSD it is fast and quiet. Just what you should expect.

Cons: Built a new small system with this as my C: drive. Died without warning after 10 months. Spent much diagnosis time and system recovery attempts but eventually had to admit my C: drive was dead and the SSD was not recognizable to the system. Corsair's RMA process was handled well and drive replacement took about a month -- not bad considering shipping on both ends. However, I chose not to use the replacement as C: and bought a competitors SSD that had better reviews. The replacement will become a scratch drive for Photoshop so failure, if it happens, will not be catastrophic.

Other Thoughts: I have several other Corsair products in various systems which have been trouble free. Corsair shouldn't be judged on the failure of an SSD.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive

Pros: Fast, reliable

Cons: A bit small

Other Thoughts: I've had almost two years now. Yes, it's small, but I knew that going in and intended to only use it for the OS anyway. I'm happy to say that like all Corsair products I've used, it hasn't failed me yet.

5 out of 5 eggsSSD all the way!

Pros: Still working after 15 months :)
Runs faster than my previous storage device, and is really nice to host your operating system on. I think my speed is being limited by my SATA rather than the drive itself.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 basically hogs most of the drive. DO NOT try to install 7 or 8 on anything smaller than this. This works well for me because I have other drives that I install my less performance needing programs on. If you were to use ONLY this drive, you would run into problems eventually, but you should already know that.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's an SSD that does what SSDs do.

Pros: - Fast
- Spacious enough for a boot drive

Cons: - Not spacious enough for anything else, really
- Listed specs are somewhat misleading

Other Thoughts: Bought this drive back when I built this machine, to use as a boot drive alongside a couple big spindles that I have. It performs the task admirably: from post-POST to login screen is extremely fast, and I suspect that its part post-login is very quick as well (this bit takes a bit longer as the system has one of my spindle drives cough up user data and such).

Overall, I'm very pleased with this drive's performance as a boot drive, and the few games that Steam has accidentally shoved on it load snappily as well.

If I have one complaint, it's that the listed specs don't tell the entire story. While the drive can indeed do up to 525mb/s read and 490mb/s write, this is only with compressible data; incompressible data cuts the speed down significantly.

That in mind, I could only ever recommend this drive as a boot drive, rather than a general purpose drive. It's not really big enough for the latter anyway. *shrugs*

Would I buy it again? You bet.

SSDLife reckons that under my current moderate usage, the drive is going to last until 2021; if it continues performing as well as it has even halfway there, I'll be happy.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Fast

Pros: Lightning fast with Win7 WEI @ 7.6. Would recommend this series SSD to anyone wanting to speed up any PC that will support it.

Cons: Wish I would have bought bigger drive but that is my fault.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: Excellent read/write speeds
Good price / GB

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm using this on a Intel Rapid Storage Technology build where this drive is caching for a 1.5TB Western Digital Black drive. There is a noticeable difference between straight HDD and running Intel RST. It's not as fast as running straight SSD, but until SSDs get down a little lower in price, this is a good option. I don't recommend Intel RST unless your an experienced PC builder. There are little quirks to work through every time I build a rig using this.

1 out of 5 eggs:(

Pros: worked for a year...........

Cons: Had two of these in a RAID0, worked fine and one day my hdd led light on my motherboard was red indicating that a component was bad checked BIOS and only one SSD was showing up while the other had dissapeared, what really is a disappointment is that the RMA is only 30 days when these ssds can virtually go bad in an instant. I was thinking to myself o newegg should replace it since i bought them when they were expensive, hopefully they can do something about it
