4 out of 5 eggsWorth the cost so far

Pros: On the surface, this much protection for a USB drive seems like overkill. The cover is a full-length encasement of solid aluminum thicker than the metal making up most computer cases. The ends are sealed with a rubber gasket, and you do have to use a little force to push down the gasket enough to let the threads engage. Finally the ends of the cylinder have thick rubber "bumpers" to keep shocks to a minimum.

But, frankly, if you have data that you need to protect, whether it's work-related or personal and you may be going through rough territory, or you just want a bootable USB that could survive getting banged up, "just in case," the price is pretty darned right.

Physically, this thing is constructed tough, and I don't worry about any failures due to external trauma or exposures. I feel like, for peace of mind, it's been a worthwhile purchase.

(Plus the "THAT is your thumbdrive?!" looks when I bring it out are simply delightful.)

Cons: Kind of unfair to say that it's a "con" but it is definitely larger than most USB drives. Or, more to the point, I don't feel it's a "con" for ME, but other folks may.

Also, most of my problems with flash memory has been random failure or corruption, and I don't see how the casing could prevent that. BUT it may be that cheap flash drives are cheaply made all the way through, and I have high hopes that the flash memory in this drive will be as long lasting as the case it is protected by

5 out of 5 eggsSpeed!

Pros: Default file system is FAT32. Can be reformatted as NTFS or FAT. Mine is NTFS. Usable drive capacity is 29.8Gb. Blue LED light on the drive helps to track activity/connectivity. Once plugged in, gets recognized by the (Windows7 64Bit) system instantly.
Using USB 3.0
Copying small (100Mb to 2Gb) files to this drive from 2Tb, SATA3, 6.0Gb/s, 64Mb Cache, 7200rpm HD, averaging 150Mb/s, at times goes much higher. Copying files over 10Gb from the same HD, the speed goes down to 80Mb/s. Copying the same files from this drive:
Small files Ave 120Mb/s
Files over 10Gb Ave 80Mb/s.
In worst case scenario it is 80Mb/s up and down.

Cons: People that are complaining about the speed of this drive… STOP. Upgrade your old systems first…
You are getting a virtually indestructible 32Gb, USB 3.0 drive, with excellent Read/Write speed.
What more you can ask for?
I agree with the keychain complain though. Keychain connection should be on the casing, not the actual drive.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a fast/durable/unique looking USB 3 drive. This is the one!

Pros: -Fast file transfers

5 out of 5 eggsPurchase to Rebate in one month!

Pros: It's USB3.0, so pretty fast. I partitioned it on my mac and it worked fine, it's currently acting as a extended storage for my Xbox 360 (unfortunately MS has a limit of 16gb usage, so you can't use all 32gb) and I can use the remaining 16gb as FAT storage.

The housing is pretty sturdy, but don't put it in pliers and ask a strong friend to try to crunch it, it'll damage the sticker part and that's sad. It is indeed waterproof, I've dunked it, but it does NOT float, although it has a hole for a chain to be put in so you could attach a floater to it.

Cons: It's bulky! That's to be expected, but it is indeed a con. And still, I manage to misplace it from time to time. It'd be nice if there was a loop on the other end too, so you could have a loop-chain to keep the cap attached.

Other Thoughts: I bought this with a rebate (which apparently they do constantly), and I sent it in shortly after receiving the product, and received the rebate gift card within 4 weeks. It was a very easy process, and they had no issues with what I sent in. I hate gift cards because I always have a few cents left over, so I used the full balance to pay part of a bill online and tossed it.

4 out of 5 eggsfast reading slow writing 32GB

Pros: good read speeds (avg of 84MB/s )
seems physically sturdy
price ($22 after instant saving from newegg and $15 rebate)

Cons: write speeds (average of 11 MB/s :-/ )
bulky (has something to do with being sturdy)
Latency seems a bit high for a flash device

Other Thoughts: Using Linux Disk Utility on unformated drive: (all in MB/s)
Min. Read: 79.6
Max. Read: 85.4
if they could of brought the average write speed up to the 20s this would be an amazing drive.

AVG READ: 84.1
min write: 3.9
max write: 73.6
AVG WRITE: 11.1
avg access time: 11.7ms

4 out of 5 eggsOnly minor probloms

Pros: You can jump on it all you want. it won't feel a thing. 204 pounds tested. :) havn't tested speed but others seem to have trouble with that. Rebate took a while but no trouble. on my 32G one. The 16G one they threw out the window I guess.

Cons: Just minor tweaks that if implemented into the next version of this product would help a lot. Stick the keyring on the part that't NOT attacked to the USB drive. Just drill the keyring hole of the other part and presto chango it's better. :) All my keys hanging from the flash drive puts undo pressure on the USB head.

Here's one that bugs, a lot. SECURE THE RUBBER!!! Within just one month of light use the rubber comes off. I can put it back on but something as simple as sticking the USB drive in my pocked takes it off again. Corsair this is embarrassing for you. I would be happy to pay $10 more if the RUBBER WOULD STAY.

Other Thoughts: Imagine it without the rubber and if you can see your key haging from the USB port. If you are fine with both of the above then buy it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat USB Drive

Pros: Speeds are great! I used HDTune Pro to measure speeds when it was brand new:
USB 3.0 Port: Access time 0.775ms, Read avg 81.9 MB/s (min 81.8, max 81.9)
USB 2.0 Port: Access time 0.586ms, Read avg 35.7 MB/s (min 35.6, max 35.7)

I also tested my old 3-4 year old Corsair Survivor 8 GB USB2.0 model: Access time 1.13ms, Read avg 22.1 MB/s (min 21.7, max 22.7).

Reliability and toughness of the drive and it's casing seem to be just as great as my old model, which lasted me 3-4 years and still runs like a champ.

I haven't tested write speeds or speeds after the drive has been filled or after numerous read/write cycles, so hopefully performance does not degrade!

Cons: My old USB 2.0 8 GB model had a keychain hole on each end, whereas this model only has the keychain hole on the end that contains the actual drive itself.
Now with any other USB drive I would hate having the keychain attached to just the cap, since most aren't very secure and you might lose the drive itself. However these caps screw on super tight! So attaching your keychain to the cap is not an issue.
So with this drive I would prefer to attach to the case and not the drive itself. Why? Because the weight of this drive + attached keys causes undue strain on the USB ports. It's already rather big on my keychain and I don't want to get one of those detachable keychain clips just for this.
Why remove the option for attaching to the case and not the drive itself? I feel like I have to dock an egg for this.

Other Thoughts: Great drive and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a USB 3.0 drive. Weight and size are offset by it's durability. Appears to be faster than other USB 3.0 drives, although I haven't run the speed test again after extended use which should give a better idea of actual use speeds.

Why change the case design corsair? I hate that I have to attach my keychain to the drive end...

3 out of 5 eggsSecurity Theatre

Pros: I bought the 16Gb version 3 years ago. It has been in fairly constant use since then and still works.

Cons: This only seems to be well built. The aluminium casing is only glued together and fell apart after a couple of months. There was no particular trauma involved , it just broke off . The bigger problem with this is that the lanyard was connected to the casing side , so the drive itself fell onto the street and would have been lost if I hadn't heard it fall. I glued the thing back together again with good epoxy and it has been solid ever since.

Other Thoughts: This thing just isn't well made enough to justify the inflated price tag. You are paying for something that looks much more robust than it actually is.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality, impressed, 10x faster than USB 2.0? I don't think so

Pros: Tested with a 450MB ISO and other driver / zip files preparing for an HDD to SSD swap. Moved files from USB 2.0 laptop, write speeds avg 14Mbps, brought to my desktop with USB 3.0: pulled off avg 80Mbps, wrote back on at 40Mbps. Exactly as advertised. Has a rubber donut to seal the screw-on aluminum cap for ultra-durability

Cons: Not 10x faster than USB 2.0 just yet, I hit 3x faster on write, haven't tested read. Not worth deleting an egg as the speeds match specs.

Can't cook crack

Other Thoughts: I bought to plug into a Living Room blu-ray player that can't stream over my network. At the 40Mbps speeds, I can transfer 2 episodes of Lost in HD (3.5GB) in about a minute 15. Mathematically speaking, I could fill up 30GB in 12.5 minutes. perfect
