4 out of 5 eggsCan we say Buggy?

Pros: when it works it helps a lot.

Cons: had issues in the first week after install, power went out and had to reload windows to get my system back up.ended up reloading windows 8 times after each power outage before i finally gave up on this product. The enclosed cache software worked as it should.but due to flaky local power service i ended up not using this drive or software.
maybe once i get a UPS i will try it again.

Other Thoughts: i now have a 30 gig ssd to do absolutely nothing with. SSD prices are dropping gonna get me a 240 gig this month.

3 out of 5 eggsNvelo Software is a nightmare

Pros: Works great as a standalone, cheap SSD. During the 3 reboots you get out of the software, it works great.

Cons: The Dataplex software works for about 3-4 reboots, then crashes the system. The built-in "recovery" which is supposed to uninstall the driver, and give you your old system back, renders the computer completely unusable.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT HAPPY!

Pros: NONE!

Cons: I just got my replacement drive, Its sealed looks brand new. I hook it up only to be told the key is already in use, now i have to wait another two days to try and get it reset. I know it is common to get a refurb for an RMA, but its not marked refurb anywhere. THE LEAST THEY COULD HAVE DONE WAS RESET THE DRIVE!

Other Thoughts: COME ON CORSAIR IM ALMOST THREE WEEKS INTO THIS. TO HAVE IT ARRIVE AND NOT WORK IS REALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Without doing any benchmark, the speed seem very similar Vertex 3 in my laptop. Where you see it the most is in boot time. This ssd is inexpensive and seems perfect for my sata II computer.

Took some time but got it working

Cons: All people that install this SSD should know that they have to put AHCI mode, IDE or PATA leads to corrupted partition after some time.
I did a fresh ghost before installing the ssd and did I do a good move there ? No because after I got my data corrupted, I learned that ssd needs AHCI mode in the bios and therefore I couldn't use my ghost but only a fresh install. At least I got my data back.
There is ways to transfer a IDE windows installation to AHCI on the web, something like changing the hard-drive drivers in device manager but it didn't work for me and isn't officially supported.
Good luck

Other Thoughts: Remember to put your Sata controler to AHCI in the bios, it is very important if you don't want to be swearing later.

3 out of 5 eggsNot even 4 months and dead!

Pros: worked very well

Cons: Well it worked great at first, I really noticed a differance now that im back to just a normal spin drive. The cache just started telling me my hard drive was going to die. i did all the tests and all came back normal, one day it just hung on the load screen. I unplugged the cache drive and everything was good again

Other Thoughts: Ive just started the rma with corsair, will see if there service stands or not.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked Fine...No Problems

Pros: Easy installation....as far as I know it worked fine and no problems. Price was right and the Manufacturer has a good reputation for making good products.

Cons: When I purchased this item the reviews were pretty good, but later when I was thinking of getting another I noticed a change in the rating. After reading many of the reviews I decided not to make the purchse...in fact it gave me cause to remove the one I had for my main computer. Some of the other folks indicated that this unit could not be used for anything but it's intended purpose...Cache. I later read one of the reviews that indicated that it could be used as a standard SSD. During the time that I was using it, as designed, I really didn't notice a great deal of change in perfomance. Nothing like the 5X they refer to in there ads. I did remove the Dataplex software and then formatted the drive and am now using it as a backup for some of my more important files...etc.

Other Thoughts: I really didn't do much homework before buying this device which did convince me that next time I get into a new area I should do my research and know what I am getting into.

1 out of 5 eggsCorsair SSD Accelerator

Pros: When you get it to work it works fine. You need to read up on this and by all means do a full backup image of the primary drive. Even in the comments below the add on card went bad the first time. Aslo if you are using Acronis True Image Reovery Manager in the boot up you will loose the entire drive. NVELO knows this but Newegg does not or has not let you know.

Cons: What is missing from getting 5 egg's is the lack of knowledge on the product. 1st - it WILL not work with any nVidia storage controller. Corrupt data results. I ended up buying a Add-on card PCI-E SATA III Asmedia ASM1061 card. However, the firmware version of the card was 0.89 and it needed 0.95. The first attempt failed. This is where the excellent support of the Dataplex people (www.NVELO.com) came into play. The tech sent me the firmware update with specific instructions and by email walked me through getting it to work. Best tech support i have seen in along time.

Other Thoughts: Newegg - you need to update your data. I cnx'd the RMA & tried to tell the operator and all she said is "we will pass what you said on..." I doubt if she understood what I wanted to pass on to you because I simply told here to CNX the RMA and it worked with some help - i gave her no details of what I had to do.

1 out of 5 eggs30 GB Corsair

Pros: None

Cons: Installed it - loaded the software-rebooted worked fine. Reboot one more time and boot sector gone. Disconnect accelerator drive - the boot give you the option to revert back to the hard drive which I did - took out the primary drive. Other posts said this i should have listened. Fortunately I made a image backup with True Image 2011 before I tried this madness -DO NOT BUY THIS THING - IT MAY WORK FOR SOME BUT IF IT GOES BAD YOU ARE SUNK - DO NOT INSTALL WITHOUT A GOOD IMAGE BACKUP BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!

Other Thoughts: Too bad i was looking forward to this and from the post i probably will not get my money back. Plus the software has a txt file that says it does not work with nVidia storage controllers - nice to know that before i purchased it! My MB is all SATA II nVidia controllers - maybe that was the problem. However, the BIOS and OS recognized the drive, etc.

3 out of 5 eggsdoes what it should, but beware

Pros: speeds up boot time and application launch times.
I love the speed gain, but not the problems.

Cons: seems problematic , especially when an improper shutdown occurs.
every reboot requires a resetting of my display gamma. it will not retain the changes made to monitor gamma in a normal shutdown.
I have had to restore my hard drive from a backup after a power outage, and one time after my system hung on shutdown. Complete partitions were lost. I have done firmware updates, ahci, etc. I have disconnected the drive. it's not worth the headaches to me. Gigabyte am3 board, caviar black 1tb hdd. win7 64 bit OS. Any advice would be appreciated.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear jr,

We're sorry to hear about your troubles, please contact our Tech Support and we'll be more than happy to help you out.

3 out of 5 eggsCSSD-C30GB

Pros: SATA2, price. Works well for OS drive.

Cons: Dataplex software works only in Win7, readyboost alternative is more reliable

Other Thoughts: After repeatedly installing Dataplex software to enable caching process to no avail, I ended using Disk Management to format to a drive letter and NTFS, which then yields a regular SSD drive. Dataplex software affected boot partition, requiring several recovery consoles to get back to previous installation state. Readyboost worked better, and can also use this drive for Vista without any difficult upgrade procedures.

Works well as a OS drive, but downloads and programs installed on larger SATA drives. Improved Windows experience score from 5.9 to 6.9, which represents a direct comparison of this SSD over 7200 SATA2 drive.
