Corsair Nova Series SSD drives provide the performance and benefits of a solid-state drive at an attractive price. Their lower capacities make them ideal for use as boot drives, working in tandem with a second hard drive for file storage.

  • newegg The price that's right With solid-state drive, your system boots faster and applications and large files load more quickly, so you can spend less time waiting and more time working... or playing. Nova Series 2 gives you more SSD boot drive capacity for your money. SSD upgrades shouldn't be reserved just for high-end systems. Virtually any PC's performance can be dramatically improved with an SSD boot drive, and the economical Nova Series 2 helps make that possible.
  • newegg TRIM Support Nova Series 2 SSDs feature support for the Windows 7 TRIM command. This allows for efficient drive optimization to ensure the fastest possible read and write speeds.
  • newegg SSD Benefits – Reliability, Cool and Quiet, with Low Power Consumption Because SSDs have no moving parts, they can handle shock, vibration and temperature changes far in excess of traditional hard drives. That's important for desktop PCs, and essential for notebooks. Traditional mechanical hard drives spin at thousands of revolutions per minute. This takes power, and generates noise and heat. Since SSDs have no moving parts, there's no noise or vibration, and the lower power consumption helps keep things cool inside your PC.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Pleased

Pros: It was fairly cheap at the time of purchase.

Cons: Windows stopped functioning properly. drive completely failed after 10 months.
extremely apprehensive to purchase another SSD of any brand.

Other Thoughts: I bought this assuming i was getting a type of drive that could not fail due to its lack of mechanical parts. but it had a shorter lifespan than any drive i have ever owned.

the price and the speed was not worth the trouble.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Deal

Pros: It's fast, it works, it's exactly what I expected.

Cons: Doesn't come with a bay-adapter

Other Thoughts: Installed into my case easily enough, even without a drive bay adapter; have had no problems with it. Decent price for its size. A good choice if you just want the OS installed on it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive for the money!

Pros: Plenty big in size if you use a lean OS that supports TRIM like Win7/8 or Linux, as long as you have a good-size HDD or a server for your data storage. Very snappy performance. Price is hard to beat.

Cons: Not nearly as fast as the Corsair Performance Pro 128GB in my desktop, but what can be expected for less than 1/3 the price?

No internal garbage collection, so be sure your OS supports TRIM or you will need to have the patience for setting up scheduled Tony-TRIMs (google it). I'm looking at you, XP holdouts!

Other Thoughts: Bought two.

Installed one in my server as the OS drive with a PDC E5200 and 6GB of RAM; Win2008 boots in about 45 seconds.

Installed the other in my wife's Acer lappy with a T2300 and 2GB; boot time is less than 30 seconds.

...and both of those times include BIOS.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer beware

Pros: Easy to install

Cons: Extremely slow write speeds, died after 2 1/2 months.

Other Thoughts: Never buying Corsair products again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear TMc51,

We're sorry to hear that the NOVA drive failed, please fill out an RMA request on our Support Page and we'll be more than happy to replace it for you.

Thank you,
Corsair Customer Support

1 out of 5 eggsOnly use as an accessory.

Pros: Price was good.

Cons: Drive failed after three months and sent for RMA, returned product was dead on arrival. Unapologetic customer service; I can't afford to wait for another RMA and an 'Advance RMA' doesn't cut it. Going to have to buy a replacement - definitely not getting another Corsair drive.

Only use this drive as an accessory. You don't want your whole system out of commission when and if it fails.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid ssd

Pros: This ssd is a price for performance gem. Fast load times and great quality so far. This is my second one of these drives and they seem to last.

Cons: The only downside i have notice is where the screws go to mount the drive are not pre drilled and are hard to start if you don't have a 2.5" mounting kit.

Other Thoughts: great drive, will buy again

2 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is.

Pros: Affordable and fast. If you don't need a ton of space then you can't beat the price. I decided to go with the Nova 2 for a small linux server machine at home. It worked fine for the first few months.

Cons: The drive started giving me trouble around month 3 of operation. I would get I/O errors that ended up ruining my file system. Over the course of the past two months I have reformatted and reinstalled linux four times! I've isolated the issue to the drive and made an RMA request. Luckily Corsair has a 3-year warranty on all their solid state drives.

Other Thoughts: Sometimes drives fail and like me, most people only make reviews if they have a problem. I still plan on using this product in my server machine - it is what it is.

2 out of 5 eggsDid not meet expectations.

Pros: slightly faster load times over standard hard drive, not a big enough difference to make this worth the money.

Cons: Completely dead after four months. Back to mechanicals.

Other Thoughts: I thought this would me a great addition to my gaming computer, but now that I owned one. My advice: Don't bother, get a standard mechanical, youll have more space, and be more likely to be happy a year down the road.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Fast

Pros: Boot up time after bios is 13 seconds!
Going to add another one or two.

Cons: no

Other Thoughts: Change to AHCI mode in BIOS, then did a clean install of
window 7 64bit.
