5 out of 5 eggsBIOS Configure For Optimum Speed - Excellent Quality - Would By Again

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: I purchased this memory for my ASUS Z97-A/USB 3.1 motherboard since it is on their Qualified Vendors List (QVL).
Also purchased these packaged pair of memory since their tested and certified to work reliably together.
Initially the motherboard BIOS uses the memory SPD speed of 1333MHz.
While the ASUS BIOS screen appeared when powering on my PC, I pressed F2 to access the BIOS settings and could see the motherboard defaults to using the safer 1333 MHz memory speed. I clicked on the X.M..P. listbox and selected Profile#1 defined by this Corsair memory and it displayed XMP DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24-2N-1.50V-1.20V. I saved the new settings and exited the BIOS user interface. Now when checking the memory speed, in the BIOS user interface it shows the motherboard memory is 16384MB (DDR3 1600MHz). I have been using the new memory for about 2 weeks now and have not experienced any problems. Each of these memory pieces contain 2 LEDs that glow white for lighting effect.

Cons: The packaging indicates the memory supports Corsair Link technology for memory performance monitoring. I downloaded and installed the Corsair Link 4 software for free from Corsair. The software displays performance statistics for motherboard temperatures, cpu temperature, voltage, CPU Core temperatures, Western Digital hard drive temperature, my Corsair HX1000i power supply voltages and fan speeds, the software did not display information related to the Corsair memory.

Other Thoughts: I would purchase this same memory again and highly recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsLove me some corsair

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: -Great heat dissipation.

Cons: -More documentation would be nice.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to check timings in bios, previous ram (1600mhz ddr3 dominator 8gb 4 sticks) had different timings 8-8-8-24-2 and this ram has 9-9-9-24-1. I don't know what that last number means but nothing on the packaging or specifications here specified the last number and I had several crashes until I put bios on auto and it set the value to 1.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly awesome

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: The RAM sticks have lights! Wasn't expecting that, and it looks nice in a windowed case. Nice sink/handle for inserting and removing.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Build: ASUS Z97-A/USB 3.1 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard ; 1 x Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I54690K.

5 out of 5 eggsDominator

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: The color matches my case build, while very trivial its nice not to have blue and orange components. Its ram it holds information in limbo until I use it...

Cons: Those LED lights are not as annoying as everyone claims. Lights are on everything these days, and since these are great for overclocking, the motherboard I have that is also great for overclocking actualy has brighter lights...

Other Thoughts: I just upgraded from the Vengeance 4GB X4 to a 2 x8. Basically it was the only set that was on the QVL from my ASUS MOBO, and unfortunately I read review after review about how not to get these because the Vengeance are the same thing.... Well first thing I noticed was the ineradicable weight difference. While the performance is really = to the vengeance, I think these are going to over clock much better and stay a little cooler than the Vengeance. I look forward to placing the vengeance back in with the old i5 3570k system, and know that this will be the last time I purchase the vengeance. I will be buying a second set to bring the system up to 32GB.

5 out of 5 eggsmore ram!

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: put this on a mini-itx build that only had two ram slots, no issued passed 24hr burn testing no problem. I've got dominators in other pc's and no issues with any of them.

They look so boss with the light bar upgrade kits..

Cons: none other than a little pricey.

1 out of 5 eggs1- DOA stick

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: Discovered that Memtest does what it should do. Have not seen Memtest scroll so many error locations. They test these before being packed in the fancy box? Was hoping these $$ sticks would be golden but they had to be RMA'd.

Cons: Didn't help in getting the rig built. Happens but when timing is bad, more delays to getting a working system up and running. 15 to 30 return options are used up quickly with DOA and RMA turn-arounds.

Other Thoughts: On the OVL list for the mobo. Was hoping these would be great like the reviews...oh well.

5 out of 5 eggsStrong

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: Around 2 years ago I slapped these puppies into my first mini-itx rig and they have never given me a problem since. I'm about to build a new mini-itx computer and I see no reason why I should buy new memory...

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat stable RAM

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMD16GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: I got this more for the aesthetics than anything else. Looks amazing and if i wanted to change the color later to match a different motherboard theme I can!

Works amazing out of the box

I had to reset the CMOS to clear some BIOS settings

I just set it to XMP profile from then on, flawless!

I had 8GB total memory and wanted to jump to 16GB since applications/programs are using more and more memory and I wanted to have web browsers/videos up while gaming etc

Cons: Price is a bit steep. It was around $240 when I got it. But the price you pay for a luxury item like this.

Other Thoughts: Might get another pair of these to increase my total and not have to worry about RAM until I upgrade years from now to a DDR4 motherboard
