3 out of 5 eggsIrritating gotchas

This review is from: CORSAIR XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

Pros: I like Corsair products in general.

Cons: In order to open the memory, you pretty much have to destroy the packaging. So, it means you're at the mercy of the return re-stocking policy. Also (no fault of Corsair or Newegg), even though my Dell has a processor and motherboard that support 1333 MHz memory, this memory is rejected anyway because the bus only goes to 1066. So even though I checked the specs, apparently there are some machines that still won't use this. It should not be so hard to avoid all the ah!ah!ah! gotchas to do something as simple as upgrade memory. So now I have this memory, torn-up packaging, and I have to send it back and hope for a partial refund from Newegg. Not happy at all. I'll go back to Asus mobos for sure after all this.

Other Thoughts: Corsair makes great memory. I still want their product, I just wish it were packaged for this kind of sale instead of some kind of anti-shoplifiting scheme that makes returns so difficult.

5 out of 5 eggsFor who don't know

This review is from: CORSAIR XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

Pros: I've owned these for awhile now. Almost 2 years. I'm writing this review for Rhodes who don't understand how to get rated speeds from these baby's. In the bios there's a profile setting for your ram. Set this too XMP profile. Then they will run at rated speeds. Do not set values yourself unless your overclocking. Setting the profile to XMP is all that needs to be done.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsBest of the Best

This review is from: CORSAIR XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

Pros: Working great overclocked up one step to 1033Mhz in my 24/7 Haswell system running Windows Server. I always use Corsair memory. They have been my go-too memory for the past 10 years. Before that Kingston stole the stage. None.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsJust some words

This review is from: CORSAIR XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

Pros: Many people still do not understand the importance of having a surge protector. Surges are the primary killer of RAM, most of the time the ram will not be damaged, it will actually be the motherboard itself. Although you may not see them, surges happen every day, for any reason because electricity fluctuates. It is best to keep your computer connected to a surge protector at all times and ,if you can, get a power conditioner. All your components should be in working order as when you first put your computer together. Also DO NOT update the BIOS your motherboard shipped with, unless you have good reason too, I see little reason to update any BIOS at all. With that said, my review of this RAM: This is a very good kit and I would recommend it for most any motherboard that is AM3, AM3+ or FM2, would not recommend it for servers though. should work even if it's not listed in the manual.

Cons: Could use a more robust heat spreader.

3 out of 5 eggsAtleast some of the sticks work...

This review is from: CORSAIR XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

Pros: The memory isn't bad. I am using it in a home server and it works good for hosting game servers that require a lot of memory in order to run good.

Cons: The negative is that 1 of the 4 sticks were bad. I had to RMA one set and I should be getting the replacement today. I hope that this set is going to be good but from reading reviews I should expect a headache. I hope I get lucky and get a good set.

Other Thoughts: The 2 sticks I have in my server work good. I hope the replacement set works. At this point, building my server has started to cost more than I wanted in RMA cost as I had to RMA some other parts as well. If this set is bad I may ask for a refund instead of dealing with the hassle of constantly RMA'ing 2 sticks of memory.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfection

This review is from: CORSAIR XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

Pros: Reliable and stable. I have had no trouble using them in a GA-H61M-S2H v. 1.3 and a new GA-B75M-D3H v. 1.2.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Over the years I have learned to trust Corsair memory. If I ever make another purchase, i'll likely buy the same thing.

1 out of 5 eggsBluescreen

This review is from: CORSAIR XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

Pros: works when not running at correct speed or timings

Cons: By default it was seen at 1066 not 1333 and the timings were not correct, when changing the settings to the correct values(not overclocking, simply the correct numbers) pc will bluescreen while gaming or watching videos.

Other Thoughts: Ended up replacing with gskill ripjaw series ram and the bios showed everything correctly from the start and have not experienced any issues yet.

1 out of 5 eggsHigh chance of getting defective RAM

This review is from: CORSAIR XMS 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMX16GX3M2A1333C9

Pros: Newegg delivered them quickly and efficiently

Cons: Bought 3 sets, all 3 were defective. Failed MEMtest86, RMA'ed them got 3 more sets, 2 were defective from the RMA process, now I am sending those back again (tested on multiple motherboards). If you want to avoid this type of haste, buy RAM from someone other than Corsair.

Other Thoughts: Corsair's RMA service and support is nice. I get the pleasure of talking to them until this gets resolved.
