I tried researching this for you, but the compatibly charts I find need more information (specifically the date manufactured).

I would recommend finding the compatibility via a 3rd party site such as Crucial(dot com) and then shopping here on NewEgg for the brand you like.  Crucial(dot com) has the best tool for this in my opinion.

I have not tried it with the new iMac but it should work.  I have read this is the type of memory they take.  It has worked great with my Mini, I'd expect the same performance from an iMac.  FWIW, I gave the RAM I replaced with this to a friend for his iMac and he hasn't had any issues.

It should but to be sure click the APPLE Icon at the top left of the screen and select "About this Mac" It will say the type of Memory you have. If it says "1600 Mhz DDR 3" then it will work just fine.

Yes, this will work for your iMac. I have the same 27 inch iMac and purchased this ram for it in early 2014. This ram has been solid and I have not had any issues with it. The model number is on the foot of the iMac and a late '13, 27" iMac is A1419.

It does not work. You need (8 GB kit): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148604&cm_re=mac_memory_ddr3-_-20-148-604-_-Product Technically, there is a 16GB kit out there somewhere, but they are new and Mac ram timings are really sensitive, I don't know if they'll work without crashing. If you search other sites for PC3 8500 memory (which is what you need) you can find them. I've found that Macs of that generation are SUPER finicky and crash with off-brand memory... I would only buy Corsair, Samsung or Hynix for it.

What does the latency actually mean in regards to this particular RAM? Is this RAM fast or what? I'm still new to shopping for RAM.

The simple answer is "latency" is a delay. Everything electronic has some sort of latency or delay in processing. In memory it's the time it takes a bit to reach any particular memory location when directed by a processor. For comparison shopping lower is better but generally you'll never see a noticeable difference unless your computer is crunching particle physics models of the universe.
