Corsair Neutron Series GTX CSSD-N480GBGTX-BK 2.5" 480GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I have 2 of these and three of the 240's in a dual raid 0 setup and they have all been reliable and very fast. The only issue I have ever had was resolved when I discovered that NOT all SATA cables are 6gbs comparable. Any issues that you may have with performance will probably be erased if you ensure that you are using proper cables and that they are on an Intel controller. They are rock solid when attached to an intel controller.

Cons: None what do ever!!!

Other Thoughts: I've owned several Intel, Samsungs and Crucials. I was an early adopter of SSDs from day one and these are the best I've owned thus
far. I'm sure that will be bumped off the hill soon but until then...Corsair all the way!!!

Pros: Ultra thin, great design, comes with bracket, and is speedy. Reliable in SATA-2

Cons: Plastic! Unstable on SATA-3.

Other Thoughts: Here I went with what the best Corsair has to offer. Largest capacity at the time with the fastest read/write speeds they had to offer while being the most stable... Or so I thought. When I placed this SSD in a SATA-3 port, it can only download for a certain amount of time before vanishing from my OS. Frigg'n fast, but not for long periods of time. That means, when I try to install games that require a lot of space, the drive would simply go corrupt. However, this is a different story when I plugged this into a SATA-2 port. Constant speed, and same great capacity. However, I paid for the best, and I did not get what I paid for in the end...

Pros: I was getting tired of waiting for my old system to come up after the Windows password and constantly hitting the HDD while using my browser. After getting the drive up the system both boots and comes up 75% faster. Greatly reduced times on browsing. I think the drive has extended the life of my system at least another 3 years. Well worth the price of admission.

Cons: I installed the drive on an old ASUS P5Q motherboard that had issues with SSD drives: this would have happened with any MFG drive. I had to download a custom BIOS, P5QM, in order to get it to work. If you are using an older motherboard from any vendor check with them to see if your system supports SSDs

Pros: Super fast when it worked.

Cons: Super dead when it stopped after just over 2 months.

Other Thoughts: This morning my laptop's BIOS stopped recognizing it at random. Corsair's support forums say the only solution is to RMA the drive. Great.

Pros: no problems or other issues

Cons: Pricey, especially when you think in a few months or so, will probably cost a lot less.

Pros: + Really fast read/write speeds on all kinds of files.
+ 480GB of solid state storage. :)
+ 5 year warranty

I knew from a CNET and other pro reviews that the Neutron SSD is tops in speed in almost every benchmark and application. I wasn't sure how it would work in my Mac Pro, but I had it installed and formatted in a few minutes. I then ran the Blackmagic benchmark and then copied about 200GB of files to the drive. The speed improvement over my 7200RPM hard drive was at least 3-4x faster.

Cons: No real cons except there is NO way I am going back to regular hard drive now. :-) And now realize I may need to upgrade my aging Mac Pro's to realize the potential 555MB/S transfer speed of this drive.

Pros: A good size SSD drive.

Cons: The drive continually drops. it is really worse than getting a drive that is flat out DOA. I have been swapping it between USB 3.0 enclosures with no difference. I have a Corsair 128 G drive that is great so thought this one should be fine.

Other Thoughts: In the future I will only purchase products of any cost that have a high rating. There were no ratings on this one, but as I said thought it should be ok. Wish I could give it 0 eggs, so that is not an option, so the one egg does not mean a minimal degree of acceptability, it means 0 acceptability.
