5 out of 5 eggsSo good I bought it twice

Pros: Fast and reliable. I installed it without an issue. Windows 7 installed without an issue

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought one for myself in April. I bought a second one for my wife in June. I'll probably get a 3rd for my laptop.

There are a lot of SSD install guides with tips for configuration: make sure your BIOS supports AHCI, disable Windows prefetch and superfetch. Some state that defrag should be disabled; however, it appears Windows 7 is SSD aware and won't attempt to defrag it. You can see for yourself by selecting the defrag schedule and then choose to select the drives. Your SSD won't show up. I left defrag on to keep two hard drives maintained.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive

Pros: I got this in my new Haswell system I built. With my ASRock board and this SSD I go from pressing power to Windows 8 fully loaded in 10-15 seconds, pretty sweet.

Ran some tests, on par with advertised speeds.

With this on sale and rebate, great deal.

Corsair is a quality brand. They have a program you can download that does everything you need for your SSD, Corsair SSD Toolbox. Even though this is the newer version I still needed the newest firmware. Very easy with the program and you can overprovision it as well to give you added life and performance.

Cons: None.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat! Until...

Pros: At the time it was a nice value compared to the Samsung 840 Pro. The writes were particularly fast with the LAMD controller. I was totally satisfied until...

Cons: ...after 6 weeks the drive suddenly failed. I could not get the drive to recognize in the BIOS. I swapped data and power cables, swapped ports on the motherboard. I even installed the drive in another machine, but the BIOS in that machine wouldn't read the drive either. The only thing I didn't try was putting it the freezer (does that work?)

I sent the drive back to Corsair for warranty exchange last week.

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive to replace a Kingston Hyper X 120GB. I was disappointed in the appearance and case quality of the Corsair compared to the Kingston, but we all know that doesn't matter.

The failure was an obvious bummer since it was my C drive. A clean install is not on my list of things I wanted to do to my trimmed out machine. I use Corsair memory and ps, so I'm trying hard not to ding an otherwise good product. I chalk it up to an odd failure, but right now I wish I had stayed with my Kingston.

At least this failure was the impetus for me to upgrade my system to a Haswell i7 "k" and a Asus Deluxe/Duel board. Hopefully my replacement Neutron will last a little longer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Primary

Pros: at $1 per GB this one is enough for my primary drive 240GB
on 3770k with 16GB ram. I have windows and two vmware
Os'es. boots win 7 in < 30sec.

Cons: for some reason i seem to be getting about 256MB/s rather than the quoted 500/s on average.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: - amazingly fast (benchmarks verify the speeds they post)
- very reliable
- simple to set up
- OS loads in ~5 seconds (what takes longer is the POST)

Cons: - none

Other Thoughts: Use AHCI for best performance with this SSD (set in bios before OS install).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Performance!

Pros: 5 year warranty, Extremely fast and reliable. Not a single hiccup since install nearly 6 months now. Very happy with this SSD.

Cons: The only thing I can pick at is the SATA port connector is a bit sloppy. Should have been held to a tighter spec to support the SATA cable connector.

Other Thoughts: I would absolutely buy another... and plan to when the price comes down!

5 out of 5 eggsSafari feels snappier

Pros: Fast reads and writes, consistant performance, no sleep/wake issues, includes tray (which I didn't need, but it's thoughtful that they included it), no compatibility problems with Mac OS

Cons: consumes more power than some of the competition, which might matter for laptop users.

Other Thoughts: This resolved slow boot times, itunes album art lag, and iphoto's general slothlike performance. Faster than when it was new.
