5 out of 5 eggsAAAAA ITS SO FAST AAAAA

Pros: AAAAAA this thing is fast. Literally weighs less than the paperboard box it came in, Probably powered by voodoo and witchcraft, but who cares when you're getting 467 MB/s read and 192 write.

Cons: Had to sell a kidney to afford it, but I've got a spare so it's all good.

Other Thoughts: Going to see if my boyfriend want his spare kidney, he's O-negative so i might be able to get two more from it.

I got this with an HDD for media storage, and I thought it was hilarious that Newegg packaged the HDD in a statc bag, with a custom-made bubblewrap sleeve, and then a ton of crumpled up paper. the quite expensive SSD was thrown in the very bottom of the box, with only a cardboard wall and a paperboard sleeve protecting it from the horrors of the US shipping industry.

5 out of 5 eggsjust wow

Pros: well after setting this ssd in ahci mode which is a must for windows trim and and its fastest speed, and for for all the people who say it cant trim, well it can, the corsair toolbox wont do it for you, all you do is go to defrag and click optimize and it trims. :)

Cons: it feels flimsy.

Other Thoughts: just make sure you set it to ahci.

5 out of 5 eggsNice drive

Pros: Very fast boot times, roughly 20 seconds in my case. The desktop once on screen is fully functional with no delay. Programs launch instantly. Games load ridiculously faster.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This unit took over for a 10k rpm Raptor. The Neutron is silent, infinitely faster, and there is no turning back to platter drives.

Steam loads prior to my adapter picking up my wireless signal now though. Have to restart Steam every boot.

Terrific drive if on the tad smallish size for my needs. Highly recommended.

Pros: I can boot window in 4.5 seconds! What else is there to say about this beast that pretty much explains it all!

Cons: Absolutely none!

5 out of 5 eggsGood SSD to revive old computers

Pros: Ok, so ive been thoroughly testing this SSD for the past week, ive abused it and fully pushed it to its limit, and i have to say that this drive is perfect for someone who is on a budget and needs to get a solid SSD, or for breathing life into a old faltering laptop/desktop

for starters i did not get the advertised r/w speeds, i averaged around 480 MB/Sec on read and around 220MB/sec on write,

the 3.5 to 2.5 adapter is a nice feature, however i had issues getting it to fit into my toolless drive bay without a bit of swearing,

going from a intel ssd to this i did not see any gain in boot times or application load, however when compared to a standard 7200 rpm "black" drive, i saw a HUGE gain, boot time was cut by 66%

my Laptop also saw a huge boost from this drive, from power button press to a useable desktop, takes less than 20 seconds,

this drive would be perfect for a boot drive in a performance pc, however due to its size i cannot recommend it for a daily use laptop

Cons: the only real gripe i have about this drive is the 3.5 to 2.5 adapter, it was irritating to get it to go into my toolless drive bay correctly, however since the adapter is a "extra" i wont mark the drive down for it

Other Thoughts: this is a perfect all around drive for someone who has an aging pc and needs to give it life, a cheap boot drive for a gaming computer on a budget, or for a weekenders laptop perfect for taking on that plane trip because an SSD extends laptop battery life

5 out of 5 eggsGood drive Nice and fast

Pros: Installation was a snap I attached it to the hdd cage of my Corsair 400r didn't use the supplied tray. The supplied tray looks nice and sturdy if you don't have 2.5 mountings in your case. They included all the necessary hardware for the supplied tray and the one that comes with a case

I get 30sec boot times on this drive. This is about 10 secs quicker then my Crucial M4 120gb drive.

My Sequential Read times with HD Tune Pro were 260 MB/s
My Sequential Write times with HD Tune Pro were 250 MB/s

Warranty is great. Can't beat 5 yrs. Corsiar stands behind all there products with great warranties.

Cons: Actually don't have much negative about the drive. Cost per GB could be less $1/gb is a bit high but its cheaper then my M4 and looks to be about average price for a 128 GB ssd

The estimated speeds they show are a bit inflated based on my tests but then again it will vary from drive to drive.

Other Thoughts: Overall am very pleased with this drive. It performs on par with my M4 costs less better warranty

4 out of 5 eggsA good standard for SSD

Pros: The Neutron 3 (CSSD-N128GB3-BK) is Corsair’s second-in-line SSD in the 120-128 GB range, right behind the higher-end Neutron GTX (CSSD-N120GBGTXB-BK). The only difference between these two drives is the price and better max read/write speeds for the GTX. This review focuses on my experience with the Neutron 3 and compares it to other SSDs I’ve used.

This SSD utilizes a SATA III (6 Gb/s) connection and boasts maximum sequential read/write times of up to 540/211 MB/s, respectively. But what do these numbers really mean? If you’re still using an older hard disk drive (HDD), these numbers mean that it is time to upgrade. I’ve used 3 different SSDs in the past year, with the Neutron 3 being the newest, and it does indeed outperform the other drives (the OCZ Vertex 3 and OCZ Vertex 4). Running Windows 8 Pro x64, I was getting 14:80 second boot times with the Neutron 3, starting from when the Windows 8 logo appeared to when the system was actually usable. The Vertex 4’s fastest boot time was 22:38 seconds. Using a benchmarking tool, my actual sequential read/write times for the Neutron 3 were 493.95 MB/s read and 247.40 MB/s write. For the Vertex 4, my sequential times were 474.30 MB/s read and 247.89 MB/s write. The Neutron 3 outperforms the Vertex 4 in this test.

This drive has an actual usable space of 119.24 GB, which will be exactly the same as all 128 GB drives. The drive will requires virtually no set up, aside from mounting it in your case and plugging in the cables. It comes with a 2.5” to 3.5” bracket, so you will be able to fit the drive anywhere a standard HDD will fit. There is no need to worry about getting another bracket to make it fit in your case!

One of the easiest upgrades you can make is switching to an SSD. You will notice an immediate, pronounced difference on an SSD compared to a hard disk drive. The OS will boot lightning-quick, programs will open faster and be more responsive, and your PC will feel new again. The first time I booted my OS from an SSD, I was astounded by the speed at which it ran. An SSD can give new life to old hardware, at the sacrifice of total disk space.

Cons: The SSDs case seemed a bit “flimsy” to me as compared to the OCZ Vertex line. Not that this matters at all when considering the actual performance of the drive, but it definitely didn’t feel as sturdy as the Vertex line. I guess this would only matter if you planned on playing Frisbee with the drives, though. Another negative point is that the drive does not come with a SATA III cable in an effort to minimize packaging. None of the SSDs I’ve ever bought have come with a SATA cable, however, so this is just the industry standard. Just keep in mind that to maximize the performance of this drive that you will need both a SATA III cable and a motherboard with SATA III ports. I would have definitely given this review 5 eggs, had the drive come with a cable and sticker (I’m a sucker for case stickers).

Other Thoughts: At the time of writing, the Corsair Neutron 3 is the cheapest 128 GB SSD online. The quicker boot speed definitely makes this SSD stand out compared to others I’ve used, and the cheaper price seals the deal. Many of the pros listed above could be said about all SSDs, but this one does not disappoint and performs at the same level of drives that might be more expensive. This would be a great first or additional SSD for anyone looking to upgrade their computers.

I have both a desktop and laptop PC, with the testing done on my desktop for accurate comparison to the other drives. I fully intend to replace the 1 TB HDD in my laptop with the Neutron 3; the difference in speed compared to HDDs is so great that I’ll easily give up the extra space. I put all of my programs and install the OS on my SSDs, while I only use HDDs for storage of music/pictures/other items that don’t require fast read/write.

I used the AS SSD Benchmarking tool for the sequential read/write speeds.

My Specs: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ Motherboard / G.SKILL Sniper Series 16 GB (4 x 4 GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1333 / EVGA GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 Graphics Card / OCZ Vertex 4 SATA III 128 GB SSD / Corsair Neutron 3 SATA III 128 GB SSD

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Light

Pros: First Impressions: man is this SSD light, solid construction, metal case.

From what I know about the LAMD Controller it is common to use the case of the ssd to dissipate heat.

Real world read/write tests with HD Tune Pro.

Write: Average 150.3 Megabytes/s, no more than 10 MB/s variation between min and max.

Read: Average 256 MB/s, also no more than 10 MB/s variation between min and max.

It had no problem fitting into my HP DM1 laptop.

Tested in a HP DM1 laptop with an AMD e-1800 and 8gb of DDR3.

From pressing power button to full boot (everything in windows loaded) under 35 seconds.

Not much else to say for pros aside from it has a corsair 5 year warranty. They really like to stand behind their products with long warranties.

Cons: Price per GB. At its current price its essentially 1 dollar a gb which is rather high for a SSD currently.

This would only apply to some but it does not boast the "up to" speed for writes at 500MB/s+ like other controllers. It is a product of the controller though. Not enough to take off any eggs.

Other Thoughts: It is a great SSD, 5 year warranty, seemingly solid construction, light, and pretty fast.

If I could give it a 4.5 egg rating I would because of the price per GB mainly.

Unless the cost comes down I don't see myself using this specific drive in any builds for clients. If you want to spend the money though, from my experience, it is a fast solid SSD.

5 out of 5 eggsI love this SSD

Pros: Wonderful SSD, Fast read and Write performance, around 300Mbs Read and 400Mbs write. I am able to boot my Win7 64-bit computer in about 10secs.

I went from a standard 7200RPM drive to this SSD and I don't think I could ever go back to a standard 7200 boot drive. I love this SSD its small its sleek and is a powerhouse.

It comes with a mounting bracket so that you can make it easier to mount inside your case.

Cons: None so far
