5 out of 5 eggsZippy

Pros: Refurbished, inexpensive, zippy. A working drive from a brand I trust. Boots in a few seconds in a modern UEFI/Win8 machine that is tuned for speed.

Cons: None thus far.

Other Thoughts: If you haven't experienced an SSD, it is truly the last technology to achieving responsive computing. For the average user, an SSD is well worth the money (much better bang for the buck than moving from Pentium ->i3 or i3 -> i5) It really just makes a computer much more enjoyable to use for the typical surfing the web, checking email, apps, updates, booting, etc. simply because there is less waiting to load/launch things.

240GB is adequate for your average non-power-user that doesn't need a ton of storage for photos, video, etc. Add cloud storage, or a second hard drive if you do.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Follow up on last review

Cons: I took one star away because of shipping package. I don't know if the rest of Newegg's valued and continued shoppers have noticed how poorly packaged many items come now. If it's because of the free shipping I'll pay a couple of dollars extra to know it's packed in a sturdy box.

5 out of 5 eggsRefurbished is good

Pros: 256 GiG for cheap
name brand
as good as new

Cons: none unless short warranty

Other Thoughts: I bought a new one of these about a year ago. I wanted more space so I got this and made a raid0 out of the two. My read and write speeds using ATTO or over 1000MB each. Am glad I got it and will buy another for my other desktop if they go on sale again.

5 out of 5 eggspositive results for me

Pros: Cost per SSD capacity.
Speed, even compared to most other current solid state drives.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Been running this in an AMD PC build for about 6 months, purchased from newegg as refurbished. It holds the OS and 3 or 4 games that I play. I've had no issues with it so far. It's hard to know if your results will be the same as mine until there are more reviews, just casting my review based on my experience. In my opinion, refurbs don't have any higher chance of being defective than new products, and in some cases they actually have a lower failure rate since you've had a person make a repair and confirm their functionality rather than simply coming off of a manufacturing line.
I'm considering this or the higher capacity 360GB for my laptop when I decide it's time to upgrade.
