Built for Speed.

With up to 85,000 IOPS and read speeds of up to 555MB/s, Force Series GT provides you a new level – system starts up faster, program launches in an instant and multitasking runs more responsive. It has even quicker read and write times when they're installed in PCs that use the latest SATA 3 6Gb/s interface.

  • newegg TRIM Support Force Series GT SSDs feature support for the Windows® 7 TRIM command. This allows them to store only the data they need and perform memory optimization to ensure the fastest possible write speeds.
  • newegg Reliability Because SSDs have no moving parts, they can handle shock, vibration and temperature changes far in excess of traditional hard drives. That's important for desktop PCs, and essential for notebooks.
  • newegg Cool and Quiet, with Low Power Consumption Traditional mechanical hard drives spin at thousands of revolutions per minute. This takes power, and generates noise and heat. Since SSDs have no moving parts, there's no noise or vibration, and the lower power consumption helps keep things cool inside your PC.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I bought the 90 GB version for a boot drive but decided to just get the 480 GB and put everything on it.
Both units I received tested healthy with no issues, although the 90 GB had a newer firmware version, but is a GT and not a GS. I don't really know the difference.
Mirrored everything over onto this drive and has been working great since, can't beat the price.

Cons: Short 30 day warranty can leave you feeling uneasy. This is why I deducted an egg.

Other Thoughts: For the price, I think it's worth the "risk" of buying a refurbished SSD. Corsair seems to do a very good job refurbishing their products from my experience, too.
I read somewhere also that when an SSD is refurbished, it's not due to heavy use and hardware failing, but that the firmware will put itself into a locked state that only the factory can undo and then install the latest firmware on.
If you test the drive before using it and everything tests good, you should be OK.

2 out of 5 eggsFailed in 10 months

Pros: While it worked, this SSD was exceptionally fast, had large storage capacity, and breathed new life into a 3yr old PC.

Cons: Unfortunately, the unit failed in just 10 months. Since I purchased a recertified SSD, I am simply out of luck (and hundreds of dollars).

Other Thoughts: Backup early and often.

I will never buy a recertified SSD again. The risk of total loss of data and money is just too high. You lose any replacement option after 30-days, putting you at high risk of losing both hundreds of dollars AND all of your data.

I will also be wary of any SSD running a Sandforce controller. The rate of failure is unacceptably high, and firmware updates have yet to fix these issues.
