Replacing old-fashioned mechanical hard drives with modern solid-state technology is a quick and effective way to improve your PC experience, from nearly every aspect. The solid state drives based on flash memory technology deliver higher throughput, higher random IOPS, less heat generation, and less noise. The solid state storage makes a dramatic difference in your daily use: faster system startup/shutdown, quicker programs launching, and more responsive operation and multitasking.

The Corsair Force Series F115 SSD is powered by SandForce controller and fast MLC NAND flash for fast sequential read/write speeds and strong random write performance for impressive real-world storage speed. It boasts SATA II 3Gbps interface, a standard 9.5mm height, and TRIM support that enables memory optimization and less performance degradation.

  • newegg Superb Performance The Corsair Force Series F115 SSD uses SandForce controller and MLC NAND flash for blistering sequential/random speed. With maximum sequential read speed of 280 MB/second, maximum sequential write speed of 270 MB/second and random 4K write performance of 50,000 IOPS (4K aligned), you'll experience a huge improvement in your overall system responsiveness over the mechanical HDD.
  • newegg Maintains its performance over time Force Series F115 solid-state drives support the Windows 7 TRIM command. This allows them to store only the data they need and perform memory optimization to ensure the fastest possible write speeds.
  • newegg SSD Advantages Because SSDs have no moving parts, they can handle shock, vibration and temperature changes far in excess of traditional hard drives. That's important for desktop PCs, and essential for notebooks and laptops. Traditional mechanical hard drives spin at thousands of revolutions per minute. This takes power, and generates noise and heat. Since SSDs have no moving parts, there's no noise or vibration, and the lower power consumption helps keep things cool inside your PC.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good!

Pros: It worked.!

Scored a 7.3 on that cheesy windows scale!

Price 45 dollars!

Cons: Came in a white box no bigger then the drive itself with nothing included. Which is basically a message for "Good Luck"...

Other Thoughts: I brought this because I'm bored. I have an older mother board I'm dropping "newer" parts in to see how this old computer will compare to other top dollar computers I own. The mother board only has only has SATA (II) ports. I connected it with a SATA (II) cable because this is a SATA (II) drive. Also, my mother board doesn't post this as a hard drive but just runs it as one as if it was a jump drive. So, a lot of mother board may not even pick that much up. It's a risk!

1 out of 5 eggsDied one week after warranty ended

Pros: Great price, if it worked

Cons: Died after less than a month of use. Unfortunately, the invoice date is more than 30 days ago, so it is now out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: I normally have good luck with recertified/refurbished/etc. products. However, given the very short warranty on this product, I wouldn't recommend it. 30 days just isn't long enough to test (especially if you aren't able to install it the day you receive it).

3 out of 5 eggsSlow Write speeds

Pros: Price seemed to be reasonable.

Cons: Slow write speed (77MB/s). In fact slower than my hdd. Kind of defeats the purpose, at least in part, of getting an ssd.

Other Thoughts: The read speed was better (230MB/s) in fact more than twice the read speed of my hdd. I think I'll try to return this and get something faster. The manufacturers specs showed a read speed of 280MB/s and a write speed of 270MB/s. It really fell short on the write speed (Almost 200MB/s short).
The item arrived super fast.

1 out of 5 eggs2nd RMA

Pros: Drive I bought locally worked flawlessly.

Newegg came through for me and they gave me store credit for the drive instead of another replacement

Cons: On my 1st review(would have just edited my 1st review if that were possible) I stated that having the computer recognize the drive was a pro. I now wish that it wouldn't recognize so I wouldn't waste so much time trying to install windows. Again the drive was very slow and windows 7 would not install. I tried windows 8.1 and it installed after letting it run all night. Install is probably a strong word for what actually happened. Clicks of the mouse would result in the computer responding 2 minutes later to the clicks. Fed up with the little RMA replacement only Scenario I decided to go to my local electronics/computer store and just buy a new SSD.

Other Thoughts: I love Corsair products and have never had problems with any other products from them. I will never buy another refurbished SSD or HDD.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: decent price
computer recognized it

Cons: very slow
tried countless times to get windows 7 to complete.
Can only get an RMA replacement. tested another hdd on the new build and windows installed fine and was much faster than this little peice of cr@p.

Other Thoughts: do yourself a favor and avoid this like the plague. NewEgg support(usually very good) acted like it was my fault that they sold me a defective product and would only replace it with(probably) another defective product

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Very cheap.

Cons: Not recognized by the BIOS maybe once every 5-10 boots. Always recognized on the second boot (after Ctrl+Alt+Del). COMPLETELY stopped working less than 3 months.

1 out of 5 eggsFirmware issues causing blue screen with windows

Pros: Price

Cons: There seemed to be some firmware issues with this brand and the manufacturer. I tried two RMA and still had the same problem. I can note that it worked fine with Linux/unix
