1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Very cheap.

Cons: Not recognized by the BIOS maybe once every 5-10 boots. Always recognized on the second boot (after Ctrl+Alt+Del). COMPLETELY stopped working less than 3 months.

1 out of 5 eggsFirmware issues causing blue screen with windows

Pros: Price

Cons: There seemed to be some firmware issues with this brand and the manufacturer. I tried two RMA and still had the same problem. I can note that it worked fine with Linux/unix

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Price. I purchased this item for $60. I purchased it to install in my ASUS X501A-HPD121H. Boot time is fast. my computer is running linuxmint 15. It boots under less than 20 secs. I have not run any benchmark yet, a bit lazy.

Cons: for desktop users is missing the docking braces to fit in a hdd hard drive.

Other Thoughts: I had read other reviews that the bios would not recognize the computer. my ASUS X501A-HPD121H laptop recognized it with out a problem.

1 out of 5 eggsGood drive - when working

Pros: Cheap.
Better performance than the 7200RPM SATA II it replaced.

Cons: BIOS stopped detecting drive on reboot after a few hours of use (ASUS Z870A). Had to shut down and physically unplug the drive, count to 5, then plug back in. BIOS resumed detecting drive for another 30 minutes. Rebooted once more and the drive vanished yet again. Repeated power down with reseat but now SuSE won't boot due to HDD errors. Fsck ineffective.

Other Thoughts: Returning for RMA.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It didn't give me cancer.

Cons: Enabled AHCI. Couldn't get my bios to see it. Ran it over to a buddies to check no luck. Checked it on 3 pc's bios will not pick it up. Its dead right out of the box.

2 out of 5 eggsSSD not compatible with some AMD APU

Pros: I could max out 270MB/s write and read on Linux

Cons: 2 Eggs. Because nothing was notified and seemed like AMD issue was known when I searched through Corsair forum after the fact.

Other Thoughts: Some compatibility problem with AMD APU equipped laptops when trying to install/use Windows 8.
[It takes like 2minutes just to format the SSD, which takes like 5seconds on 5400rpm HDD]

Not sure which to blame Microsoft? AMD? Lenovo? Corsair?, but since linux worked fine on the same machine, so probably mostly on Microsoft (and that's why this is not in cons), but I am still very disappointed by the fact that Corsair did not notify it to potential customers - especially when this refurbished product is NON-REFUNDABLE.

4 out of 5 eggsRMA adventure

Pros: -Wasn't DOA
-Worked a bit faster than my previous harddrives
(2)RMA procedure(look below)

Cons: (1)Didn't see blazing speed: Win 7 installed in the same amount of time my harddrives took(look below)
-It seemed to slow down with capacity increase even though it's an ssd, awkward
-I benchmarked the ssd and found the drive was performing at half the advertised speed, the random 4k writes were appalling: I received 1400 iops but it was advertised as 50000 iops
(2)RMA procedure(look below)

Other Thoughts: (1)
-My old harddrives were in raid 0 and they were mismatched 7200rpm 500gb drives that were 5 years old, says alot about the speed compared to the ssd
-I sent the product for RMA exactly as it was, no adapter tray, no s/n on the box, exactly as I received and sent in the same condition
-If you look in the picture, you don't get any image of any adapter tray, I figured, fair enough, my case already has it's own adapter
-Apparently it's general procedure for newegg RMA to checklist that the product has an adapter tray and a retail box with an s/n(I'm guessing they were expecting those plastic packaging that you lose fingers to pry open)
-I was emailed 5 days after they received it that the package was incomplete.
-I imediately emailed the return services that I didn't receive any such accessories or retail boxes, it took them nearly 4 days to email back that they still will deny my RMA, I sent them another email again with the same explanation.
-I also sent an email to the general services requesting the status of the RMA, it took longer than their 24hour guarantee to respond, again I was denied RMA, by now my 30 day replacement warranty was less than 10 days from running out.
-This time I was getting a bit annoyed, so I gave the return services a call in a calm manner, I was hoping to speak to their retention services but they don't have one, oh well.
-I repeated my situation again to the lady on the phone, again in a calm manner, I explained that the product picture specifically didn't show any adapter, and I told them I sent the ssd back the same way I received it.
-The call was escalated to her manager, I believe, and since the product was discontinued they offered me store credit instead, I'll admit I probably would have fought tooth and nail to get this RMA replacement through .
-I didn't get a replacement but I was not satisfied with the product anyway so store credit was a blessing.
-The four eggs you see up top is mostly for the customer service I received and the fact the ssd worked.
-The negative egg is because the ssd performed too slow to be satisfactory.
-In summary, I was dissatisfied with being denied RMA initially but fully satisfied with the costumer service I received through the phone and the fact they offered me credit back.
-Advice: Email newegg of the condition of your ssd as soon as you get it, mention what accessories came with it, and check the s/n if it's available because these are the things RMA looks for.
