4 out of 5 eggsStill working

Pros: -Definitely faster than any hard drive could be
-Confirmed still working after 1.3 years of constant abuse (and yes I bought this refurbished at that time)
-AHCI apparently works better, but with benchmarking its a negligible decrease when still using IDE on this drive. Likely other SSD's get better performance out of AHCI, but not this one.

Cons: -Currently faster SSD's for only a few dollars more
(Definitely not a con when I bought it, as it was one of the only sub $100 SSD options back then, which is not the case at all now)
-SATA II is an issue now that SATA III drives are cheap, but not a con for my purchase - just for the people looking to buy this drive now.

Its only 4 eggs due to the smallest issue - as someone mentioned, this drive has a weak SATA connection. I also thought my drive was dying a few months ago, and was concerned that all the other terrible reviews were correct. But the drive was still testing 100% health - yet my PC would crash when installing new games directly to the SSD - but not crashing doing the same when installing to the hard drive. Turns out when the case fans ramped up speed they were shaking the SATA connector. I secured the darn thing and haven't had a problem since doing so.

Other Thoughts: I mean, compared to all the review saying its going to die in four months..... Pretty solid.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Works great, speeds up Win 7 boot times.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my kids' older machine to speed things up and it works great. I upgraded what I could on their machine without buying a new motherboard (newer CPU, another stick of ram, new video card, new PSU) and this was one of the other options. For the refurb. price it was a great way to eek some more speed out of their aging machine. I would suggest completely removing all other drives if installing Windows as the master boot record may stay on a different drive; at the very least read up on MBRs. I was super confused why the drive wouldn't boot until I plugged in the drive with the MBR and realized what I'd done.

1 out of 5 eggsJUNK

Pros: Cheap

Cons: wont last

Other Thoughts: 7 months old and is failing. used as an OS drive. would lock up. used as a secondary drive it would disappear. NOT WORTH your time and money 30 warranty only spend the extra 50 and get a better drive.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Drive

Pros: Simple install.

Cons: Drive seems to not been reliable. Had too many failures and now is completely unusable. Had to reinstall operating system on my PC after last crash caused by this drive. I would look for something else more reliable.

3 out of 5 eggsDoesn't read from boot at times

Pros: Affordable, Corsair quality name brand.

Cons: At times, on restarts/reboots, it will not read from disk. I have to cycle the power a few times to get the Windows splash. I'm looking for a non-refurb. I shouldn't have got a refurb anyway. I knew better!

Other Thoughts: None.

1 out of 5 eggsgarbage

Pros: Was cheap...

Cons: Cheap as in garbage.

Other Thoughts: Failed within 5 months and was hardly used. Continuous chkdsk and VSS errors.. Total waste of 50$... It is unfortunate that Corsair only offers 30 day replacement on returns. I won't buy another refurb, ever.

1 out of 5 eggsSeriously, do not buy this drive.

Pros: A few dollars less than a non refurb, absolutely not worth the risk because its guaranteed to die.

Cons: Tried two of these, several months apart, both died suddenly and for no reason whatsover. No warranty coverage after 90days means you WILL be out however much you paid, in less than 4 months because the drive WILL die prematurely.

Other Thoughts: Its obvious, to me, the sellers are completely aware of the fact these drives are guaranteed to die, otherwise they wouldn't refuse to offer an extended warranty for a fee. Extended warranties are USUALLY a guaranteed win for the retailer, except in cases where the product is guaranteed to fail....Very telling that refurb SSD's are pretty much the only product where there is universally no extended warranty options available for purchase.
