The Corsair Force Series GT SSD offers incredibly fast speed no matter what you do on your PC. It has a SATA III interface, which is also backward-compatible with SATA II; this makes the Force Series GT SSD last through several system upgrades.

  • newegg Real-World Performance The Force Series GT is particularly adept at moving compressed data. You'll appreciate this real-world benefit if you work with music-, movie-, or graphics files. Starting up your PC, launching applications, loading and saving large files and documents – and just about everything else you do with your PC – is faster when you remove the bottleneck of old-fashioned hard drives.
  • newegg SATA III Interface The Force Series GT SSD features aSATA III interface, which is also backward-compatible with SATA II. Adding a Force Series GT today means that you'll still get incredible storage performance now, and you'll tap into its full performance potential with your next upgrade.
  • newegg TRIM Support The Force Series GT SSD features support for the Windows 7 TRIM command. This allows it to store only the data it needs, and perform memory optimization, to ensure the fastest possible write speeds.
  • newegg Cool and Quiet, with Low Power Consumption Traditional mechanical hard drives spin at thousands of revolutions per minute. This takes power, which generates noise and heat. Since SSDs have no moving parts, there's no noise or vibration, and the resulting lower power consumption helps keep things cool inside your PC.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Waste Your Money

Pros: When it works, it's a thing of beauty. It's quiet, blazing fast, and cheap.

Cons: It's cheap.

So, I confess I don't know if the problem I'm having is because it's inexpensively manufactured. But I can tell you this is the second unit I received from Newegg, the first being RMA'd for being DOA. BIOS wouldn't recognize the drive at all, so I could never install an OS. The second drive to arrive had the same problem at first, then all of a sudden it appeared in my BIOS and everything installed fine. Subsequent boots would seemingly randomly find the disk missing. A quick search of the forums found this to be a known issue with this particular model. Most people think it has something to do with the sandforce controller, or possibly faulty SATA cables. All I can tell you is that the issue appeared on 3 different rigs I tried to pop this into, and as of this writing, it took me 15 attempts to boot before the drive was recognized. I'm writing this review from an otherwise working OS, which is a crying shame because this thing is so wonderfully fast. But I can't tell you how annoying it is to have to boot 15 times just to get it to run. This is definitely not what I paid for and I'll be returning this drive immediately to replace it for an OCZ or Samsung.

Oh, and before you ask, yes I tried flashing my BIOS to the newest version, flashing the SSD's firmware to the newest version, trying it in multiple rigs/bays, disabling LPM via the registry, and tweaking every setting I could think of in both the BIOS and Control Panel's power setting to ensure the thing never shuts off. Sound like fun to you? Buy this drive. Maybe you'll figure out what I couldn't.

In this drive's defense, the forums said that while other models of this Corsair drive, particularly the 90gb or 250gb ones (which strangely both feature the same sandforce controller), experience this problem much less frequently. That being said, it caused me enough headache with this for them to have lost my business.

Other Thoughts: Lessons learned: don't buy refurbished SSDs, but if you simply don't have the funds for anything else, then by all means DO NOT buy this particular model. You get what you pay for folks.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 30 days :(

Pros: While it was working.. Fast drive, priced right. The computer would start up to the login screen about 10 seconds.

Cons: 1 month and 1 week later , just outside 30 day warranty the disk will not be detected.

Other Thoughts: Bios had AHCI enabled by default, and would not recognize the disk drive, changed the bios to IDE mode and the drive was recognized. Installed windows 8 without any problems and everything was running as expected. Just over a month has passed, no settings were changed, and now the disk is not recognized.

3 out of 5 eggsOk for short term results

Pros: - Economically priced SSD solution
- Fast
- Works in RAID setups
- Corsair

Cons: I bought 3 of these drives in July of 2014, 6 months later, one died but the other two are still going strong almost a year after purchase.

Other Thoughts: I am not sure if one of the SSD's I bought died from a manufacturer defect, the extreme heat conditions inside my pc (I have an AMD 9590 8-Core @ 4.7GHZ running under full load 90 percent of the time processing SETI@HOME packets... the radiator for my liquid cooling solution sits close to these drives in my case), or from me running three of these drives in a RAID 0 (trust me, you gotta try it if you can, blazing fast speeds), or from natural selection. Regardless, it is a calculated risk I took buying three REFURBISHED drives for a RAID 0 setup. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you have F-You money to blow on a speed project. I would only recommend these drives if you are in a pinch but protect yourself, and save your data on something else. Refurbished SSD's still scare me, but when they work can be a heck of a good deal.. and at this price, these drives are a GREAT deal.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Cheap if you get one that works...50/50 chance or so.

Cons: Was hard to get it recognized in the beginning but finally got it working. After a couple months,it just completely quit working. It disappeared from my drives.

I tried every SATA port and hot swap bay I have and it is never recognized.

Using third party repair programs can get it seen but access is denied. It claims to be in use by another program...Not possible. Have tried it in several different computers and it is just gone.

Complete and total waste of time and money.

Other Thoughts: There should be a ZERO egg rating for junk like this.
This is my first ever bad review of anything as I am usually capable of making about anything work.
This piece of junk doesn't even qualify as a proper paper weight.

1 out of 5 eggsNo QA = DOA

Pros: Low price for the off chance you get a good one.

Cons: Dead on arrival. Looking at other reviews indicates this is common.

Other Thoughts: 30 day warranty ready to catch you out. High number of DOA reviews indicates these things aren't being tested well.

1 out of 5 eggsFast if it boots

Pros: Fast drive when it works.

Cons: Shut down my machine to change my case fans to pwm case fans and booted up to no boot device found. Bios could not find the ssd. Multiple attempts to get it to boot failed in two different machines. The controllers in these are just bad.

Other Thoughts: There are much better drives for this price range. 50-60$ and come with 3-5 year warranty,

2 out of 5 eggsMy mistake

Pros: Fast, great boot speeds (when it would boot), made an old PC run like new...

Cons: Should have returned it within the first week. 3 or 4 times during reboots for OS install the PC would not find any boot devices. Dealt with that, finally got it up and running, for a couple of weeks no boot issues, then the occasional 'no boot device' error.
2months in - totally dead, from the boot perspective.
After reloading OS on old HDD I hope to be able to access this SSD and salvage data :(

Other Thoughts: Missed the 30day warranty.
Should have known better than to gamble on a refurb drive.
Expensive(ish) lesson learned

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little SSD

Pros: Great little SSD for what I paid for (I think it was like $50)

Cons: Nothing really other than I didn't get the advertised speed but its not a big deal since it still was booting Win 8.1 in about 3 seconds.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks quite well!

Pros: Speedy, works as expected. Loads most programs instantly.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: First one was DOA. Newegg RMA process sent a replacement, second one works quite well. Durability remains to be seen, but so far, so good.
