5 out of 5 eggsAwesome RAM!

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R (Red)

Pros: It looks very cool.
High quality memory at a fast speed.
Clicks right in like any other RAM
XMP profile is the only settings I changed on my motherboard

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I've owned another pair of this same RAM for about a year with no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsRemoving the ceiling

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R (Red)

Pros: Not a bad deal on sale, about 3/4 of what they typically are.
Seem stable and lifetime warranty - removes the "will they work" question
Moved my memory ceiling higher so streaming/encoding while playing is doable
The raised cooler profile actually works better with my "through-to-cpu" positioning.

Cons: Still a bit of money (for me anyway) but that's just the market value atm

Other Thoughts: Been awhile since I've used Corsair. Last I used were the silver 400's. I've just considered their increased cost more then they were worth, but on sale....

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all costs!

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R (Red)

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: Known defective product! Do your research! These fail the row hammer test on memtest86. Multiple people are reporting the same issue.

Other Thoughts: Ran memtest86 v6 in many configurations and settings for the memory and all came back with errors. What a waste of time, I should've stuck with G.Skill.

5 out of 5 eggsreliable set of ram

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R (Red)

Pros: I've built 5 comps with this set of RAM. All of them running with XMP profile at 1866 stable.

The motherboards I've used this with is Gigabyte G1 Z68 (before I used another corsair set of ram), ASUS Sabertooth Z87, ASUS ROG Hero Z87 as well as Z97 version. I probably could overclock these but... I don't need to.

Cons: Not free?

Other Thoughts: I've been running my set for over a year now. I've moved this ram through a few different motherboards as I've I upgraded with no problem and none of my friends have complained or had any issues with their rigs that I built using this.

I just bought another set for my rig... i don't really know if 32 gigs of ram is going to make much of a difference...

5 out of 5 eggsIt's RAM

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R (Red)

Pros: It's easy to set up - just enter your BIOS and enable XMP. Purchased two kits for my quad-channel board, and couldn't be happier. Arguably the best RAM for the dollar.

Cons: None that I see.

Other Thoughts: This is a caveat more than an actual con - I installed two kits (four sticks) on an ASUS P9X79 LE mobo, and the RAM only works in the blue slots. Filling four grey slots wouldn't work. I have a liquid cooled CPU, and the stick closest to it literally rests against it. Just be sure to check your clearance. (I assumed they would fit, and almost had to send them back, which would have been a real shame, given the pros)

5 out of 5 eggsLove it! once I got it working....

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R (Red)

Pros: Fast 1866 but had to tweak it.

Cons: I don't consider it a con since I knew what I would have to do when I purchased this memory.

If you have a Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 revision 1.0 or on just before the uefi bios you will need to manually enter in the timings for the memory or it defaults to running at 1333mhz.

Other Thoughts: Running the F10e bios version for the gigabyte 990fxa-ud3.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory by a Quality Company

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R (Red)

Pros: I purchased 32-GiGs worth of these memory sticks.
They are 1866mHz and easily overclockable if thats your forte.

Quality memory sticks from a well known computer parts manufacturer.
Lifetime warranty on any memory sticks is a huge plus.

Great for musicians who have lots of VST's and VSTi's in their DAW's that hog up lots of memory.
Also great for people who people who play modded minecraft with tons of mods installed.

Also great for people who do lots of video editors & video rendindering.
Memory is pretty cheap in price these days,
so why not have extra memory available.....
Better to have more and not need it, than less and in need of it. :)

Cons: First and Foremost, this is NOT the fault of Corsair.

For those angry and wondering why they can only get these memory sticks perform at 1333mHz instead of 1866mHz like they are suppose to operate...

The reason being is as follows...
Its because AMD processors only supports 1 memory DIMM at 1866mHz per channel that are 1866mHz in speed.
This is also true for many of the motherboards out there.

You have to find motherboards and CPU processors that actually specifically say that they actually support (DUAL 1886 DIMMS per channel)
and NOT 1 DIMM per channel.
Also, ALL FX CPU's by AMD do NOT support dual channel 1866, and they state it right on their support section of their website...
So be very vigilant and read carefully first before committing.
Figure out if your motherboard and CPU can be able to handle and operate higher clock rate DIMMS such as 1866mHz.

For those that might be a bit confused...
Each memory channel on your motherboard holds 2 memory sticks.
which means you only have 2 channels, which totals up to 4 memory sticks.
Some motherboards out in the market can hold 8 memory sticks which is a whole different conversation.

Basically see if the motherboard and CPU information actually says if you can install 2 memory sticks that are 1866 or higher within each memory channel on your motherboard.

Save yourself the hassle and research first.
Dont make the same mistake I did.
My AMD FX-8350 and Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
does NOT support (dual 1866mHz memory sticks per channel).

I currently am operating these 32-GiGs memory sticks at 1333,
Until I change over to Intel i7-4790-k CPU and Asus Motherboard.

Its really sad, because ive been using Gigabyte for 8 years.
And I feel like they have let me down completely on this.
I love Gigabyte boards because to me, they have always been extremely stable.
But now the game has changed and my hand is being forced.
That also means saying goodbye to AMD, and switching over to Intel hardware for my MAIN use computer.

Other Thoughts: I hope my information helped someone from going through the heartaches I did.
and I hope it helped you on your journey to getting your killer computer.
:)
