3 out of 5 eggsNot nearly as fast as advertised.

Pros: Brushed aluminum is nice to look at.

Cons: Benchmark puts it at 200mb read and 40mb write. The back of the package indicates 260 read and 70 write.

Other Thoughts: The red Corsair GS drive performs much better at 200 read and 100 write.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid performer.

Pros: - Quality construction.

- Aluminum scratch-resistant surfaces.

- Feels super fast compared to USB 2.0

- One of, if not, the fastest flash drive in it's range.

- Instantly detected when plugged in either USB 3.0 or 2.0 port.

- Read and write speed maximums are as advertised. (Benchmarked using HD TUne Pro and CrystalDiskMark)

Cons: - Easy to lose cap. It comes off too easily if knocked against something.

- Has keyring/neck-strap loop at the other end of the flash drive, but no keyring/neck-strap comes included.

- Bulky in size. (1 inch wide and just under 3 inches long)

- Will most likely block adjacent USB port(s) on devices that have them placed closely together.

- Price is on the high-end. The 128GB model is a better deal per gigabyte. (Price varies)

Other Thoughts: For measuring real world speeds, I did several transfers with different file sizes from a SATA III Hard Disk Drive:

From SATA III HDD to Voyager GS in USB 3.0 mode:

Between 43 mb/s to 60 mb/s (depending on file size and amount of sub-folders.)

From SATA III HDD to Voyager GS in USB 2.0 mode:

Between 27 mb/s to 30 mb/s.

Benchmark Results:

HD Tune Pro:

Read Speed: 280.8 mb/s

Write Speed: 170.2 mb/s

Read Speed: 287.7 mb/s

Write Speed: 183.3 mb/s

I have no complaints about this flash drive's performance. It shows consistent speeds and works flawlessly for its intended purpose.

However, the external casing design could have been better. The cap feels like it's easy to lose and could have been attached more securely. It's no problem carrying the flash around when its stored away in a pocket or a bag somewhere, but if it's hanging from a strap or keyring, the cap will easily get knocked off even if lightly bumped against something hard. It may not be an issue for some nor is it really a big issue at all, but I think it's still worthy of having an egg taken off.

If your concern is primarily with quality and performance rather than price, then the Voyager GS is definitely a solid choice.

5 out of 5 eggsFAT32 to NTFS to FAT 32 to NTFS again

Pros: One very important thing I forgot to mention is that the drive comes pre formatted as FAT32, lot of the copying and writing test I did were both, as I formatted the drive to NTFS in USB 2.0.

When I realized that the drive was FAT32 in USB 2.0 mode I formatted to NTFS for USB 2.0 but I revert to FAT32 for USB 3.0 testing and formatted to NTFS for a final USB 3.0 testing.

In Windows 7 and 8, by default you cannot format to FAT32 (but ex-Fat with the Voyager GS), so I googled and downloaded a free software program that allowed to revert back and forth between the two.

Either way, in both file systems the Voyager GS performed well. But NTFS is my file system of choice.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsA Difficult Item to Review

Pros: 64GB,

USB 3.0 flash drive.

Feels sturdy and well built.

Write speeds up to 140MB/s and read speeds up to 260MB/s in my testing.

Performed very well as a USB media drive while hooked up to my router.

Does not have any bloatware installed.

Cons: Size, this is much larger than most flash drives on the market. It's physical size, to me, would be the largest deterrent from me purchasing one in the future.

The cap design feels cheap. For the sturdiness of the body, and the airbrushed aluminum, to have a cap that most assuredly will be lost is a let down.

Heat. Through my testing it was immediately obvious how warm the drive gets during extensive use. It is warm to the touch, something I personally have not experienced from other flash drives, albeit none any larger than 16GB.

Other Thoughts: The reason for me removing 1 EGG.

It is my personal opinion that this drive falls into a niche market between the smaller physical stature drives and the obviously larger external HDD"s. Because of this drives size it is unreasonable to attach it to a key chain, which means you will either be carrying it in your pocket, a laptop bag, or some other form of carrier. This makes it more susceptible to loss or theft than an external HDD and a smaller flash drive that you can put on your key chain.

My personal recommendation, if you do not have specific need for 64GB (or more) of storage on a flash drive I would stick to the smaller capacity flash drives. If you do need this amount of storage space and an external HDD you would have to carry around just isn't feasible, I would go with the 128GB model instead. At the time of this review, it is selling for $6 more.
