3 out of 5 eggsDurable but not as fast as advertised

This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 32 GB, Read 200 MBs - Write 40 MBs, Plug and Play (CMFVY3A-32GB)

Pros: Rubber case is durable enough to withstand frequent drops. If the cap is on properly, it is weather/water resistance. Performance is decent, but not as advertised.

Cons: Yes, I mentioned the rubber case being one of the "pros" but with this, you also get the "negative." This flash drive is a dirt magnet. That rubber case is "sticky" where it grabs all the dirt in your pocket especially if you put it in the same pocket as your cigarette box, it will grab the small tabacco. And it is difficult to clean. You can't dust it off or wipe it off with your fingers. The dirt will still cling to the body especially in the seams (where the blue side belly and the body). It's just easier to just wash it off with a damp cloth, but it's annoying when you try to share it with a co-worker since the flash drive looks dirty.

I have a generic ADATA UV128 / 64GB flash drive that I bought here for 17 bucks and it's pretty fast. I thought the Corsair would be much faster so I actually thought it was worth paying $25 for a 32GB. I was shocked that my ADATA was faster! So much for their claim that this is 18X faster than other usb 3.0 drives that's labeled on their package. Bummer. I guess I paid for the durability instead. Small investment so not going to gripe too much.

5 out of 5 eggsNeato Burrito Bandito

This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 32 GB, Read 200 MBs - Write 40 MBs, Plug and Play (CMFVY3A-32GB)

Pros: Benched with CrystalDiskMark

Seq:: Read: 175.6 Write: 29.33
512:: Read: 137.8 Write: 14.93
4K :: Read: 7.987 Write: 0.786
4K32:: Read: 8.261 Write: 0.842

It's not the fastest thing out there, but it ain't bad at all for 27$

Cons: Tiny-ish.
Cap not attached (known going in)
No lanyard (Known going in)
Seriously. It's smaller than the pictures let on.

Other Thoughts: Great little drive for what it is. Seems like it's going to be great for OS installs and such.

Test System:
Win7 Ult 64bit
ASUS P8Z77-V LK
i5 3570k 4.2GHz
HyperX 1600MHZ DDR3

Results were VERY similar in both Normal and Turbo mode in AI Suite II USB 3.0 Boost.

5 out of 5 eggsworks good

This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 32 GB, Read 200 MBs - Write 40 MBs, Plug and Play (CMFVY3A-32GB)

Pros: Bounces when dropped.
Reads 200+ mb,writes 15+/- mb, using of course usb 3.
Many times formatted and installed linux live or linux utilities without a hitch.
Boots / reads every time.

Cons: No retainer for the cap, no lanyard, knew this when I bought it.

Other Thoughts: This is one the better products put out by this company.
Write speed is a little slow, but I am concerned mainly about read speed.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Flash Drive!

This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 32 GB, Read 200 MBs - Write 40 MBs, Plug and Play (CMFVY3A-32GB)

Pros: Drive is large enough for a lot of files===
Fast!===
good protective enclosure==
great support from Corsair!

Cons: Be careful not to loose the cap!

Other Thoughts: I had been using the USB2.0 version of this for quite a while. The drive began to get flakey after much daily use but to my amazement it was still under warranty. After I contacted Corsair about replacement they sent me a new one. I received a 32gb USB3.0 flash drive! This drive works great in my adapter. It is fast as lightning. I transfer a lot of tv shows on it and it takes only a few seconds to load one-hour shows. I also have all my utility programs for fixing and setting up pc's on this drive. I feel very secure with this drive as it has proven reliable. I am always going to go with Corsair products from now on. One time they even sent me a new cap to replace my lost one for free!

5 out of 5 eggsvery impressive

This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 32 GB, Read 200 MBs - Write 40 MBs, Plug and Play (CMFVY3A-32GB)

Pros: Very impressive and an instantly noticeable boost vs other USB drives.

I tested it new, Fat32, and got 75 Mb/sec write and 130 MBs read. That is Mb, not mbit, so it is near as fast as a decent hard drive.

Mildly pricey but the speed is there if you need it.

Cons: None so far beyond price.

At this price, it might be worth getting a cheap, low capacity SSD instead if you want to boot from it.
But rhat isn't as easy as this for portable, quick boots.

Other Thoughts: I won't be getting a dozen of these, but great for trying out, fast business or media streaming, or a fast alternate/test boot drive.

I would buy again and I recommend it to others.

5 out of 5 eggsPleased as punch

This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 32 GB, Read 200 MBs - Write 40 MBs, Plug and Play (CMFVY3A-32GB)

Pros: Fast. Good bang for your buck for both the speed and capacity (32GB).

I've witnessed sequential reads and writes in line with the advertised 200MB/s read 40MB/s write.

Random read/write performance is also quite good for a flash drive.

Cons: Looks just like a pair of nail clippers I own so I'm always getting them mixed up.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to replace my old OCZ Diesel 16GB as my workhorse flash drive. I'm completely pleased with the speed and am glad I'm getting the extra capacity as well. I know there are faster drives available. I may even get a faster drive. This is fast considering how cheap it was.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Flash

This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 32 GB, Read 200 MBs - Write 40 MBs, Plug and Play (CMFVY3A-32GB)

Pros: Used other flash drives in the past and they were all a little dodgy and of poor quality. This baby is much better quality and aesthetically pleasing. It's fast and hopefully durable. Plus, it's a Corsair....I like everything they make.

Cons: None....

Other Thoughts: Bought this at twenty bucks....Price is already up to thirty bucks, which probably means New Egg is selling lots of these babies....

5 out of 5 eggsFast!

This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 32 GB, Read 200 MBs - Write 40 MBs, Plug and Play (CMFVY3A-32GB)

Pros: I wanted something fast without getting hurt in the wallet. I needed 8 of these as I'm shipping images to people. I trust Corsair to make a solid product. I also was pleased to see the write speed always in the 25-30 MB/sec range. Read I've seen almost 100MB/sec if I'm streaming raw.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Quick

This review is from: Corsair Flash Voyager USB 3.0 32 GB, Read 200 MBs - Write 40 MBs, Plug and Play (CMFVY3A-32GB)

Pros: I bought this after starting a new job where the internet is extremely slow. I have to download software from my home to take to work. With the USB3.0 speed it makes installs so much faster. I clone windows 7 images from this usb and it make the process soooooo much faster.

Cons: None
