4 out of 5 eggsBuilt tough!

This review is from: CORSAIR Survivor Stealth 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model CMFSS3B-128GB

Pros: Rugged
Water tight
Drop resistant
Looks awesome
Plenty of storage (128GB)
Fast transfer speeds (Didn't run tests, but only took a few seconds to move large files over, much faster than USB 2.0)

Cons: Can only attach lanyard or key ring to one side
It wasn't free (LOL)

Other Thoughts: This is probably the best flash drive I've purchased to date. I wanted something I could put on my key ring and not worry about. I constantly and dropping my keys and so far, It hasn't affected it. I was concerned about the size before committing to buying, but it's just the perfect size. roughly 4" long and 1" diameter. but it just blends in with my keys. My only gripe would be that you don't have the option as to which side you can put the key ring on. The side that has the hole to mount the key ring is the side that the flash drive is attached to. If you have a heavy set of keys or whatever you happen to have this hanging on, the weight pulling down on the drive would definitely be a concern. But otherwise this is a great flash drive.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed After 3 Months of Light Use

This review is from: CORSAIR Survivor Stealth 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model CMFSS3B-128GB

Pros: The water-proof, dust-proof case.

Cons: I bought this to backup and replace a 32GB Survivor that lasted just over 3 years before failing. Right out of the box, this one was measurably slower and was probably used a dozen times in 12 weeks before it failed.

Other Thoughts: I'm moving to SanDisk SD flash cards for large file transfers between my office and home PC's.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat quality, hard to break, but BIG

This review is from: CORSAIR Survivor Stealth 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model CMFSS3B-128GB

Pros: Huge amount of storage, good performance, decent price, and most importantly I probably won't be able to hurt it. The number of times I accidentally wash my pocket knife, this thing's water resistance is very important. When all sealed up (screw on/off cap with rubber O-ring seal), it seems really tough. Not heavy, though, and still fits in my pockets. The rubber bumper rings on the outside come off if you hate them...not sure how much they help with shock resistance.

Cons: The diameter of this thing, even with the rubber bumpers removed, is too big to plug into a "thin and light" (13" Retina MacBook Pro in my case) laptop while it's sitting on a table. Your laptop would need to be at least 1" thick for this to plug in comfortably without anything bending. I ended up buying a 6" USB 3 extension cable so that I can plug this drive in while my laptop is sitting on a hard surface.

That also means it's large enough that if you don't have large pockets, it will bulge out, possibly uncomfortably, but can be tossed in a bag without worrying about its survival.

Oh, and it's completely round and rolls easily, so you might be testing the shock resistance sooner than you'd think. A flat side would be welcome.

Other Thoughts: If Corsair were to modify this so the USB-port-thickness bit of the drive came out of the large round base (that is, if this came apart into 3 pieces, maybe with a short tether), I'd rate this 5 eggs.

Also, it comes formatted FAT32, which is very compatible, but the 4 GB file size limit is rather limiting. Reformat it in ExFAT and that limitation is gone, and it'll still work in modern Windows, modern OS X, and Linux if you install the necessary filesystem drivers.
