5 out of 5 eggsI like it!

Pros: I bought this for my new my Dell XPS 1600 laptop. Works very well with transfer rates several times better than USB CF card readers. I highly recommend this card for CF users.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had trouble installing the drivers until I realized that that not only the card needs to be inserted but a CF card also needs to inserted into the adaptor in order for the software to install. Just inserting the adapter card (without a CF card installed into the adapter) will result in a cancelled install. Once I realized this, the installation went without a hitch.

Pros: it's fast, when it works...

Cons: Works okay with OSX 10.4 after installing driver, except the CF card is seen as a HDD and there's no way to "eject" the disk. So when you pull the card out, OSX freaks out a bit, whatever. But in OSX 10.5 all hell breaks loose and the computer completely locks up every time. I'll be looking for some other CF card reader since this one is garbage.

Other Thoughts: wish I hadn't wasted my money on this junk

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: I am a professional Photographer and find it very good for quick transfers of my images from 16 GB and 32GB cards to both MAC's and PC's. After reading the above cons, I do not agree with them: I recommend this over the slower USB card readers. I found no stability problems.

Cons: None.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks, Kind of.

Pros: Fast and small. Portable.

Cons: It does not stay clicked in to your Express slot very well. Everytime you pull a CF card out it pulls the entire adapter out of the slot. Likewise when you push a new card in it pops the adapter out. It fits in the Express slot on my HP DV5t very loosely. Takes some work to get it to fit snugly and work.

Other Thoughts: I am using this in conjunction with a Kingston 133x 32 GB card that my wife uses in her Canon 40D. You must remove the adapter to insert or remove the CF card, which is rather annoying. Once you get everything wiggled in to the right spot it works great, it just takes a while to get it in to the correct position.

4 out of 5 eggsUSB bottleneck avoided

Pros: An UDMA-speed IDE hard drive controller board, hooked into PCI-express (1 lane)

Cons: Syba cost fifteen, but one review didn't like it

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Easy, Fast

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: You can go with USB reader if you want, but if you have the Express Card slot and are not using this card reader to import your photos, you are really missing out!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plugged adapter with the CF card in place into my XP computer and it auto installed. No CD required. Then went to Windows Exployer and transferred the files to my hard drive.

Cons: Same as with all express cards, they stick out of the computer.

5 out of 5 eggsGold Standard

Pros: This is the fastest card reader I have used - and I have used and tested over a dozen UDMA-enabled card readers. Even beats FireWire 800 readers under Windows Vista.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have not had any of the problems cited by other reviewers. Following the installation instructions and using the provided drivers has yielded flawless performance and compatibility for me. Can't say the same about SIIG's PCI-e based ExpressCard reader.

4 out of 5 eggsIt is picky.

Pros: It is very fast to get photo's to your pc. I loaded 2GB worth of photo's in 1 min 55 sec. That is quick. If I were to use a USB port it would take 4-6 minutes. Also very compact.

Cons: Not the easiest to use. I loaded the driver it came with. I use a pc, and you have to have an CF card in the card reader for your PC to detect it, even to install the software. I recently found out that it only detects it if I put it in the slot before I even turn the PC on. If I put it in while the PC is on, it will not detect the cards. However you can change the cards while it is installed just fine. Other than that the other reviews are true as well about the card being somewhat loose in the slot. I didn't have to many problems with that since I do not bother it while it is in the slot, just do not hit it or wiggle it ( I don't know what they do while their PC is on ) but you shouldn't have to many issues with that.

Other Thoughts: As soon as you get through its quirky ways and understand how to use it properly it is a great card reader, especially for transferring large files. If you are a photographer like myself I would strongly recommend this product to a friend or another professional.

3 out of 5 eggsso-so

Pros: PCIe based card, so it's MUCH (20x) faster than the USB based cards. No bulky USB dohickey to carry around.

Cons: As the other reviewer noted, it doesn't seem to quite go in and come out of the slot very well. Costs few dollars more than some other cards.

Other Thoughts: keep looking, there are better options
