5 out of 5 eggsAdded bonus

Pros: I bought this to replace an ageing Kingston 2GB. I was wary of buying a flash disk from a company from which I'm only familiar with their optical media, but their CDs and DVDs always seems high quality.
16GB is large enough to store anything I'm carrying around with me.
As an added bonus this drive is ReadyBoost ready.

Cons: As mentioned before, the various plastic components are pretty flimsy, but I don't put them through hardly any abuse. If you need something made out of steel, buy one made out of steel.

Other Thoughts: Surprisingly enough, even with a higher-end desktop: I'm running a 7200 RPM hard-drive on SATA 3.0GB/s and a BioStar A880GX MoBo, ReadyBoost still helps. It doesn't make everyday applications run any faster, but when I'm crunching heavy data (especially on BOINC or other science apps) Resource Monitor shows a large part of the disk cache moving over to the storage drive, and then it really comes in to its own.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: Relatively cheap, lots of storage, light weight

Cons: Not very small.

The switch to extend the connection is likely going to fail, making it more challenging to use when it does.

Transfer rates are average at best.

Other Thoughts: Nothing spectacular, but I didn't need it to be.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Flash drive

Pros: Zippy, high capacity. Use it to tote files back and forth from work (it's attached to my badge & reel) and to run PortableApps. Pretty darn rugged: the drive is attached to a pretty heavy duty badge reel and has been dropped together with the netbook it was plugged into (once - ~3ft), which slightly bent the USB connector on the Verbatim. Straightened it out and it still retracts fairly well (gets stuck retracted or slides independent of the switch on rare occasions). Still operates no problem while connected. Hard to complain since it's my fault. Not a tank, but takes a pretty good beating, comparable to my 4 GB Cruzer in this regard.

Cons: Red. More subdued color might have been better.

Other Thoughts: This may or may not be related to the drop, but the edges of the plastic case want to separate a bit. Has not been a problem, but it makes the whole assembly feel a bit wobbly when plugging it in. I'll probably just tack it down with some super glue one day

5 out of 5 eggsGood Thumbie

Pros: Sturdy design. No cap needed. Has resisted pocket-abuse for almost a year now. Not bulky.

Cons: There are cheaper 16gb ones now, but not sure about keychains.

1 out of 5 eggsMisfunctional

Pros: Cool blue LED at the switch.

Cons: Honestly, I bought this drive because of it's capacity and price. Once I started using it I noticed that it is only able to fill 14.8gb instead of 15.9gb like the other 16gb drives. And at the beginning I didn't need all the space so I didn't mind but once I started to upload thing to near max, ie: it has 11.3gb free and I need to upload 10.8gb, it tells me that there is not enough disk space. I kept trying to reformat several times but the truth is that a lot of that space is only virtual not actual that you can consume for files.

Other Thoughts: I honestly would have paid $10-$15 more to get a trusted brand, had I known.

Manufacturer Response:
