2 out of 5 eggsFlimsy and Cheap

Pros: Well, it works. Sounds like you sometimes get a dud. Mine works even in pieces.

Cons: It's built about as cheap as one could get away with- it's thin, flimsy plastic, that can be pulled apart with finger nails and light pressure. Top and back are kept together with flimsy side clip. Inside slider is flexible plastic even more flimsy than exterior as it flexes- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
...Once you have pulled it out too fast, it comes apart inside, jamming either half way out or jammed halfway into the shell, requiring one to disassemble it (easily) to use again. I epoxy the insides so we'll see how long that lasts. The chip and board inside are about 1/3rd the size, so one can remove it completely and perhaps epoxy it inside a flat marker ap or something... :P

Other Thoughts: I've got a ton of Lexar's and Adata's and 3rd world country cheapo USB's. They all toast this thing. It's got average speeds (big or small files) so why get it when it's built so bad? Their other products (I.E. black sliders) are far better built. Why did they make this thing? Horrible design decision, especially when plastic isn't a precious commodity!

VERDICT: Save your money and get another model by them, or go with another brand. It's average, and if you need the security, just encrypt the files with another method (such as user account permissions or only as root, etc) or with a software solution (which is what is included it appears). 2/10

I got mine at 0ffice Depot for $9.99.

P.S. you can format without the security software. If you loose capacity, DL and burn "HPA2" to a CD and boot from it -you can use HPA2 tool to reset the capacity (works on truncated HDD's).

1 out of 5 eggsV-Safe software renders drive useless

Pros: large drive for low price

Cons: V-Safe software re-formats the drive into two zones. One zone called Privacy zone for password protection. The other zone Public. Even though the drive has a capacity of 32GB the Software restricts any useable size to to limit of 7.45GB fat32 in either public or private zones. If you attempt to re-format without a Privacy zone the total useable capacity is still 7.45GB. So the V-safe software creates an 8GB drive with the rest of the space un useable and useless. Okay drive. Useless software!!

Other Thoughts: Not your average user here. IT Feild Engineer. Years in the profession.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: lightweight, retractable

Cons: combersome security software

Other Thoughts: I have a 8GB Store N Go with Vsafe. love it. Needed a larger drive so I got the 32GB just like it. It comes with EasyLock software that is neither easy nor fast. Spend less on a drive without software and add your own!

5 out of 5 eggsGood product.

Pros: Password protection - travel with sensitive data without worrying about data loss if jump drive lost or stolen. Extremely easy to use.

Have been using Verbatim jump drives for many years and only had a bad sector on one which I detected immediately. Verbatim promptly replaced it.

Except for the one with the bad sector, have never had any go bad once I started using them.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsPray you don't need support.

Pros: Writes fast when it works.

Cons: Cold snap reboots on Windows XP during multi-file transfers. More customer service from a 3rd world country. Told them that transfer of 3000 files in one drag-and-drop will cause a snap reboot. They asked me to test it by copying one file at a time. Right! Then what? Report back in a month. They tried to blame my Asus mainboard. No way. There is no other I/O issues and no problems with other USB thumb drives. Then they asked if the files were programs or user files. Who cares? Its just data to a storage device (unless its got anti-virus software built in, which it doesn't). On that note I asked for a real tech. They were all too busy at the moment but they promised to call me back. I also sent the issues in a support email.

HERE IS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T BUY THIS THING: They disappeared. Never responded to the email support request and never called me back. Thank you very much for the lifetime warranty. I thought I might use it as toilet paper but its a little stiff.

Other Thoughts: Remember, you don't just buy the product. You are also paying for the manufacturer's promises. In this case, you won't get them.
