5 out of 5 eggstrue torture test

Pros: I've had this for over four years now and carry it in my pocket in a hot dirty factory. Has been through the wash probably around ten times. Still works fine. Have never had a problem with it. I'm needing some more flash drives and will probably go with this or a higher capacity one

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsFunctional, not durable.

Pros: Very fast, no cap to lose, actually fits on a keyring unlike some other usb flash drives.

Cons: The plastic enclosure is very cheaply made. After owning it for 2 months, the catch on the slider broke, making it difficult to insert into the slot without holding the slide forward. A few months later, some plastic bits inside broke and allowed the key to come apart.

4 out of 5 eggsPerforms Well

Pros: This flash drive gives you plenty of storage space and a way to store sensitive files for security purposes. I and people close to me have had other brands fail but verbatim performs consistently. Best of all you don't have an end cap to tend or lose.

Cons: The thing is too wide to fit side by side in some laptops.

3 out of 5 eggsA bit disappointed

Pros: - Fast Writes (14 to 16 MB/s).

Cons: - Not so fast Reads (19MB/s)
- Feels really cheap.
- Bigger than expected. Will probably block adjacent USB ports (happened to me with my Toshiba laptop).

Other Thoughts: I have a 2GB unit from the same brand which I've been using for around 3 years and the difference in the finishing is amazing. While the 2GB one (which is still fast 12 MB/s 16MB/s) has a very solid rubber plastic case, the 8 GB one has only a plastic case that gives the impression it will break or simply disassemble. It still didn't happen but I'm expecting for it.
I was between this one and the Patriot, since I already own one of this brand and one reviewer reported ~30 MB/s I decided to pick this one instead (they where at the same price). Now I feel like I'd be better with Patriot.

1 out of 5 eggsnot cheap, cheap

Pros: 8GB

Cons: the housing is an empty shell with the board inside. for reference compare with other well known brands, which are more solid. bump it a little more than lightly, usb connection breaks, and time for rma. true confession.

Other Thoughts: if you live in a bubble, buy this drive.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome - but....

Pros: Light, thin, retractable male port, LED lights up when active (like a hard disk light on a desktop/laptop), and also has security software built in.

Nothing bad to say, this is a great flash drive. Great read/write speeds, it's sturdy and seems well made.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I know this is for all flash drives, and even hard drives... the real capacity of this thing is only 7.25GB according to Win7/WinXP/Vista properties. I hate when manufacturers round up the space on their drives... it's annoying. Other than that, which is always prevelent when buying any kind of drive, no cons whatsoever.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for metal

Pros: Great storage for music. I'm using this puppy in my USB port on my car stereo. Great for transporting a good chunk of heavy metal. Didn't take too terribly long to transfer the 4gB currently on it, either!

Cons: The blue LED within is a somewhat hideous color combo, but nothing worth taking an egg off...

Other Thoughts: I'm not a big fan of the clashing colors, but oh well. As well, this thing, sticking out of my stereo, has actually been struck by a briefcase; both the drive and the port are generally undamaged. Quite sturdy.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's all about the speed, and this baby delivers!

Pros: Fast read / write speeds. (ATTO Disk Benchmark, about 32 MB/s Read, and 17 MB/s Write). Retractable, so there's no cap to lose.

Cons: I wish manufactures would include read/write specs on their flash drives. Then we wouldn't have to buy them first, and benchmark them to see if they are worthy.

Other Thoughts: I have a couple of flash drives that I use everyday, and don't have the time or patience for slooowww flash drives.

I've benchmarked a lot of flash drives, and when my local office supply store had these on sale, I thought I'd pick one up and test it. I'm impressed, the speed of this drive is about as fast as USB flash drives can go.

The OCZ Diesel flash drives used to be fast. But, after the new batch that came out about May/June, 2009 (11 MB/s Read, and 6 MB/s Write). That forced me to look else where for a fast, and reasonably priced flash drive. This Verbatim fits my criteria perfectly.

Food for thought; Files that would take about 10 minutes to copy to this Verbatim flash drive, would take almost 30 minutes to copy to a flash drive with a 6 MB/s write speed. Unfortunately, there are a lot more slow drives out there, than there are fast ones. I consider this Verbatim a lucky find.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Thing is great. 8gb isn't a whole lot of storeage but more than enough for my purposes as a student transferring documents, software, and simulation files.

It is sturdy and rugged. I have put it through the washer/dryer about a dozen times by now and nothing bad has happened.

Cons: The little slider mechanism is a little flimsy but it has never broken.

Other Thoughts: It even has a nice security function on it, partitioning it into public and private sections. Never really used it though.
