5 out of 5 eggsFor the price...

This review is from: Verbatim Store 'n' Go V3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model 49173

Pros: Fast enough for most people. (Crystal Mark says Seq Read at 67.90MB/s on 100MB test, Seq write at 18.18MB/s)

Space for a lanyard if you have one.

Price is pretty decent.

Cons: The write speeds in practice aren't much faster than USB 2.0.

Doesn't keep up with some of the competition.

Other Thoughts: I ordered 6 of these for work as "throwaway" drives, stuff I can afford to lose and don't really care that much about.

I ordered a Crucial Survivor and 3x Sandisk Extreme USB 3 flash drives as well. Both the brands are much quicker, and only a couple bucks more. The Sandisk reads more than 3x faster and writes 5-6 times faster (over 100MB/s), and costs maybe $7 or $8 more per.
I'd go with the Sandisk personally, especially if you want a screaming drive (the 64GB model writes at over 200MB/s...basically a SATA II SSD). These are great throwaways though.

5 out of 5 eggsSpeedy, reliable

This review is from: Verbatim Store 'n' Go V3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model 49173

Pros: Speedy enough on usb 3 port. 57.7/20 MB/s on sequential r/w; 54.4/2.58 r/w on 512K random; and 4.421/0.022 r/w on 4K random.

Simple case design, takes daily abuse. Large amount of storage.
Smaller than some other slide out designs.

Cons: You need to make sure you fully slide out the USB connector from the case (it will click). Otherwise, on a tight connection, you may not have a full connection. Simply pay attention, not a serious issue at all.

As others have noted, a key ring will interfere with the slide-out mechanism, you will need a small lanyard first.

5 out of 5 eggsAcceptable

This review is from: Verbatim Store 'n' Go V3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model 49173

Pros: Works well enough. I have not had any issues with inconsistency.

Cons: The keyring hole is not really usable unless you have a small keyring/irregularly shaped keyring.

Other Thoughts: I do not have any USB 3.0 devices so I can attest to 3.0 speeds. The build seems okay. It's all plastic so I don't know how it will hold up in the long run.

4 out of 5 eggsAll good

This review is from: Verbatim Store 'n' Go V3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model 49173

Pros: Very fast transfer speeds, compact design.

Cons: The loop to secure a key chain is awkward to get to.

Other Thoughts: Not to bad for the price, just wish I could secure it instead of leaving it free in my pocket.

2 out of 5 eggsInconsistent

This review is from: Verbatim Store 'n' Go V3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model 49173

Pros: When it works, it is quite nifty. Lots of space, decent transfer speeds.

Cons: It seems to have developed an identity crisis lately. Sometimes it seems to believe it is not a flash drive. Will often stop functioning and become unrecognizable to PC during file transfers. Have tried with 3 PCs and 1 laptop, same results.

Other Thoughts: Don't fear the reaper.

4 out of 5 eggscould use minor improvements

This review is from: Verbatim Store 'n' Go V3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model 49173

Pros: good sliding mechanism. extremely cheap. only decent speeds - usb2 (ntfs formatted) writes around 12MB/sec, reads 30MB/sec. usb3 (ntfs again) writes around 15 MB/sec, reads around 70 MB/sec. with fat32 instead, usb2/3 writes average around 22 MB/sec, read speeds are the same.

ntfs drives reports - usb2: usbflashspeed.com/26422 usb3: http://usbflashspeed.com/26425

also this drive exhibits no random 'freezes' like many usb3 flash drives i've used, where the drives fails to respond for 4-5 seconds.

Cons: the sliding mechanism prevents most key-rings from fitting on while the drive is in use. go for a lanyard or very small key-ring instead.

usb2 speed could be better. speed in general could be better.
