TRIM Support The Kingston HyperX 3K offers native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
S.M.A.R.T. Technology The Kingston HyperX 3K adopts Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) Technology which enables the PC to predict the future failure. Through the SMART system, the solid state drive incorporates a suite of advanced diagnostics that monitor the internal operations of a drive and provide an early warning for many types of potential problems. When a potential problem is detected, the solid state drive can be replaced before any data is lost or damaged.
3.5” bracket included The HyperX 3K solid state drive features a standard 2.5-inch form factor for compatibility with notebooks and select desktops. Windows boots up in four seconds, which is close to the speed of light for me. The SSD itself is made of brushed aluminum, and the HyperX logo is raised Cons: I ran a few tests on this, and it doesn't reach quite the write speeds I was looking at... Advertised Max Sustained Write: 510 MB/s Virtual [Avg] Sustained Write: 300 MB/s I know, I know, I tested average sustained instead of max, but that still kind of slow for average Other Thoughts: Overall, I think it is a GREAT drive for the price, and I would recommend it to anyone, from first time builders to extreme modders PS; I dual-booted this disk, and after partitioning, I only have 60GB of system storage. Everyone was shocked when they heard how much I got it for. Cons: Only 110GB usable space Other Thoughts: My build is quite ancient (core 2 duo wolfdale OC'd at 3.8) but with the SSD my speeds have increased 10 fold. I've installed only my OS, Office and CS6 on this drive. I have 3 other mechanical drives for all my data. This drive is just cray cray. Word, Excel and other apps just open sooo much fast than they used to. They open faster that people with i7's on their laptops (they all have mechanical drives fyi). Illustrator and Photoshop are an absolute breeze on this. I think I can get a few more years out of this Processor Will definitely buy 2 more. One to RAID my OS and one for my games. Pros: sits well in the case, and comes with a mounting bracket for a standard hard drive bay. uhhh... it's FAST. Cons: price. i know most SSD's run at about a dollar a gig, this one has $10 more slapped on for no reason i can find. Though mine failed I always preferred kingston when it came to solid state memory. Cons: after a month or so it stopped working, my laptop won't recognize it. Had to order another drive to make sure its not my laptop problem. Cons: The RMA process via the site is pure hell, you can't correctly select the part number. You then have to choose Kingston as a manufacturer...yet the model number isn't in the list. Its write and reads ( benchmarked with Samsung sw) were just under advertised. It also had a noticeable faster feel when loading large programs and games. Cons: It was only 110 GB formated and wasnt free... Also I didn't see any sw to clone from your other disk. 120 GB goes a lot faster than you would think so get a second he and set it to hold your dl and torrents.
