5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: You get what you pay for, and in a server, you had better be willing to pay.

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: Compatible with my Supermicro X9SAE-V board.

Not as expensive as it could be, given the purpose and the importance of your data.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid UDIMM Server Memory

Pros: Using this with my SuperMicro X10SAT motherboard and its working great. Running ESXi 5.5 and the memory is running like a champ and handling everything I throw at it so far. It's UDIMM so if you need registered don't get this.

I did get a 32gb set for pretty cheap, on sales plus a promo so it was a fantastic deal. Glad I purchased when I did.

Cons: None, works great.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend this server memory over anything else in its class.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for Supermicro x9 motherboards

Pros: I've been using FreeNAS at work for a while and wanted to build a ZFS-based system for home. Following the hardware recommendations on the FreeNAS forums I used a Micro-ATX Supermicro X9 board and an Intel Xeon e3 CPU.

I'm posting this review because these Supermicro boards require unbuffered memory and I wanted to confirm that this Kingston memory works great. My system has been up continuously for several months with no issues at all.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you're interested in building a home NAS I definitely recommend FreeNAS. ZFS does RAID and LVM right in the filesystem. You allocate disks to a pool and then create datasets, which are really just directories with quotas on them. You can export the datasets via CIFS, AFP, NFS shares, or present iSCSI LUNS to network hosts. FreeNAS also has a Jail-based plugin architecture where you can run iTunes servers and the like, walled off from the main OS. I am doing all of the above with this system. I can't recommend FreeNAS enough.

My buld:
FreeNAS 9.1.1 RAIDZ2
LIAN LI PC-V354B Black Aluminum MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case
SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCL-F-O LGA 1155 Intel C202 Micro ATX
Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz
Kingston 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Unbuffered DDR3 1600

5 out of 5 eggsIts RAM, it works, what else is there?

Pros: Using a couple set of these in conjunction with a SuperMicro 5037-H8TRF 'MicroCloud' server. Each kit fills the system in terms of both physical slots and maximum supported RAM for a very good price.

I ordered 9 kits expecting one or more sticks to be bad, but none were.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsUsual Kingston quality

Pros: It's memory, and it works without errors -- enough said.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have been running this memory on an E5 Xeon server, which is continuously powered on, for several months now. No stability problems of any kind.
