Data center managers must provide faster data storage and access without incurring data corruption or loss. They must also achieve this while juggling tight IT budgets and managing highly complex system environments. Designed for the enterprise, the Pulsar.2 drive is the first MLC-enabled SSD from an enterprise storage company to deliver the price-performance benefits with the data integrity and drive endurance needed for demanding enterprise environments.
durable, fast, reliable
This review is from: Seagate Pulsar.2 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s MLC ST800FM0012
Pros: Best of MLC class, great architecture, and takes abuse well
Cons: Not SLC (See "Other Thoughts.")
Other Thoughts: I work at a satellite campus for JHU. As the assistant manager of the IT department for this university, I know my stuff. Despite not having the ever-reliable SLC ram we all clamor for, this drive (and its other brothers and sisters that make up our server array), take a beating from hundreds of students all day long. Since upgrading from SCSI hdds (15,000 RPMs), students from classes all over the campus have told us that they're impressed. And for a student to say they're impressed by the speed of something... that's tremendous. After all, the average 19 year old know-it-all is typically difficult to please.
