5 out of 5 eggsGREAT SSD

Pros: Purchased this SSD november 2013 mainly to install windows 8 on my sons gaming PC. Since then he has also loaded multiple games on to this ssd with great success. We have had it for a year now with not even one problem

Cons: no cons other than this thing was $190.00

Other Thoughts: Just purchased the Critical mx 100 for the system i am building for myself....Review to follow in a few weeks on that SSD

5 out of 5 eggsWhen on sale, this drive is a steal

Pros: When on sale this drive is a steal compared to most other drives aside from Samsung which has higher read and write speeds. This drive has fantastic read speeds and pretty good write speeds. I don't feel its anything to take a star away for and not noticeable at all.

Cons: no drive software

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great for 7 months.

Pros: Worked great for 7 months. Never once had an error or issue, and was blazing fast. Heavy multitasking and gaming with no issues. SSD was responsive at a click. Newegg's service is excellent as always.

Cons: June 17th at 1800 hours, at press of the power button, I was meet with a insert boot media in selected boot device. BIOS shows no Model or Serial number, but does know it's a 240GB device. Seagate diagnostic tools just show failure on everything and can't even get a SMART read. This is not a PC that's even turned on everyday, nor stays on for long as I use a tablet for most of my needs. Seagate's mechanical drives are top notch in my experience, but avoid their SSD's!

Other Thoughts: I've always used Seagate hard drives since 2000 for myself and repairs. Not once I had a Seatgate fail, so I stayed loyal and bought this SSD for a new build. Looks like Samsung is my next stop, as I'm about to order one to get going again. Luckily I keep all my data on separate 2TB storage drive with backups, so nothing important was lost. Time to see how Seagate's warranty experience is.

1 out of 5 eggsnot compatible with my HP desktop

Pros: It can boot into windows 7

Cons: Gives a S.M.A.R.T Command fail error during POST. Everytime I turn on the PC I have to press F2 to continue boot into windows and it's a nuisance. I bought a Sandisk SSD and it boots flawlessly. I have a HP Pavilion p6710f.

Other Thoughts: Their Customer Support is of no use. I ran SeaTools to check the health of SSD and it's fine. Then I called Seagate support and the lady confirmed with me that this SSD just doesn't want to work with my PC and that I can run a long test to verify that it's working fine and that I'm stuck with this drive because it's a healthy drive. Per their policy they only do exchange if the drive is bad and it would be exchanged for the same drive and I would have the same problem.

Conclusion: If I can use a SanDisk SSD fine and not this seagate SSD, then I know there's a quality difference between these two drives. Never again a Seagate.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: I switched to this 240Gb Seagate SDD after I grew out out of my 120Gb Kingston SSD. I'm not a big fan of Seagates after having a couple of their spinning drives fail on me but this SSD seems to be rock solid and fast! Getting this drive up and running was very painless after creating a Macrium Refelct Free image of the old drive and restoring it to the new one.

Cons: I'm a little bit weary on its longevity

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Good Paperweight

Cons: Doesn't work. Forced my computer to BSOD when formatting.

Other Thoughts: Never considering buying a seagate hdd/ssd again. I've had great luck with Kingston, PNY, and Sandisk ssd's

5 out of 5 eggsSo far very great!

Pros: Fast, well priced, looks's an SSD

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I've had this about 3 months now. I put in a Lenovo G500 and put Debian Stable on it and so far it has done great! Everything is fast, boots and shuts down fast, etc. I haven't run tests to test the speed, but I'm very content with it! I'm usually leery about putting my full recommendation to someone for an SSD until I've owned it about a year, because I still find them to be on the sketchy side (having 3 that have failed), but I'll assume Seagate's SSDs are as good as their drives and will last me a good long while

4 out of 5 eggsGood SSD, worth the money.

Pros: Fast, easy install, nice construction, plenty of room.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I used this to breathe some new life into my older Dell E6400. So far this has proven to be a wise purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsMy first Seagate SSD

Pros: Mine got a 87% UBM score. It scored higher than the average of 76% of tested units.

Sequential average 422 MB/s (sort of disappointing)
4K random average 39 MB/s (higher than expected)
Deep Queue 160 MB/s (par for this drive although some less expensive 240gb drives can outperform this, might be a concern to gamers but I don't notice BF4 map loads taking any longer than my Samsung or Jay Crest drives)

Cons: The norm for Seagate is inconsistency and it has been the case for half a decade. They are solid for so much but the difference in performance in all of their drives, solid or mechanical, made me hesitate before buying this on sale. I am happy with the drive, with any SSD that can sport above 300mb/s sequential you don't have to worry a whole lot. Benchmarks don't account for hardly 25% of average usage scenarios. Seagate on a budget is good for entry level, higher capacity SSD. For the price you get a very good drive, so don't expect miracles.
