5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: Great performance Window Experience Index of 7.0 and this is only a SATA II.

There seem to be a lot of unreliable SSDs on the market. This one so far is perfectly solid.

Windows 7 boots in under 10 seconds.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Not sure why Newegg quit handling these. My guess is the $199 shell shocker deal that sold out in under 2 minutes. Yes, $199 on this 256GB SSD!

2 out of 5 eggsFailed after 2 months

Pros: Price- got it from a Shellshocker Deal. Despite not being the fastest SSD on the market I was thrilled to finally replace my slower 7200rpm sata.

Cons: Like the last poster, mine failed with a BSOD and then an ecc error. Unrecognizable after that. What was really annoying was Western Digital's RMA not allowing SSD's to be done as an advance shipment. I had to buy another drive while I wait for them to diagnose and send a replacement. Been a week now and awaiting notification of a return drive shipment.

Other Thoughts: I purchased an SSD for the speed and what I thought would be more reliability. I personally have never lost a SATA or an IDE in my 20 years of owning PC's, ironic that my first is one of these.
Owned a PC repair shop for the last 15+ years and the last 2 years I have had to stop buying Western Digital drives due to the extreme high number of duds and failures. Took a chance on one for myself thinking SSD might be better. Won't make that mistake with Western Digital again.

3 out of 5 eggsFailed After 1 Month

Pros: Price for capacity cannot be beat. Acquired during shell shocker deal and was fortunate enough to get one. One of the slower SSD's, but replacing any traditional HD is going to make it seem like it flies, even with this one.

Cons: It didn't automatically show up in Windows 7. Had to follow some basic steps for Windows to recognize. Not a big deal, but it failed after 1 month in use. I was online, browsing internet when "blue screen of death," appeared. Went to reboot and the HD was no longer recognized! No Bueno!

Other Thoughts: In the process of receiving this back from RMA. Hope to get it back soon, but just thinking what if this happens out of the warranty period? It's only been 1 month and this has already happened?? Cannot help but feel reliability or design is an issue.

Fingers crossed... hope the next one last for longer than 1 month.

5 out of 5 eggsDelighted!

Pros: Amazing Shell Shocker Price! Excellent performance... !

Cons: It did not come with a voucher for a date with Mila Kunis.....

Other Thoughts: Replaced the 500Gb HDD in my Acer laptop with this and the boot time dropped from 2 mins to approx 20 secs. Runs soooo much smoother and faster. So now I use the old drive as external storage. Of course, I did a fresh Win 7 install instead of the original Acer bloatware contained in the Acer backup. Important point... Acer tech support insisted I could not do that, and that I could only use their backup. Fortunately, they were wrong... My laptop sticker Key code worked just fine with a borrowed Win 7 HP disk.

4 out of 5 eggsWD SSC-D0256SC-2100 Review

Pros: Large capacity SSD for a very reasonable price; it was on sale.

Cons: Slower than my 120GB Intel SSD, but I knew that going in.

Other Thoughts: I travel out of the country on business. With two large partions on this WD SSD, operating systems installed in each, plus the Intel drive as my carry along backup, and a Class 10 32GB SDHC card, just about makes me "bullet proof" when I'm away from home base.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive, fast ssd easy installation into 13" 2010 Macbook Pro

Pros: Fast, shell shocker was a great deal, and the drive is built well. Benchmarks have it similar to first gen ssd speeds but this is still orders of magnitude faster than mechanical drive. Once you go SSD, you don't go back. All these years of doing different hardware upgrades when the real bottleneck to a seamless computing experience was the harddisk. I've compared it to my Corsair F115 and there are really no huge differences between the two drives in game loading and windows/osx application usage. Again, 2-5x faster does not matter when we are talking about being 100 or 105x faster than a mechanical drive.

Cons: Reliability may be an issue down the road, but I think this may be blown out of proportion. In enterprise use the limited write cycles may be an issue but day to day, it'll probably last at least 5 years, at which time you'd want to upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsLike the rest, fast and installed np

Pros: Very fast even for a slow performing SSD.

Installed to a desktop with new install of Windows 7 Ultimate. Boot time is about 20-30 secs and that is all the way into Windows after logging in.

Slowest part is the bios boot

Cons: Meant for a laptop, oem model does not come with any adapters. So if installing in a desktop look for an adapter kit for 2.5 to 3.5

I was fortunate that my new case actually had screw holes abd the screws already in place for the 2.5 drive so I could install it.

Other Thoughts: setup

Intel Desktop Board DP67BGB3
Corsair vengeance Blue 16gb kit
I5-2500K
ATi Radeon 5770 in crossfire

5 out of 5 eggsCheap SSD

Pros: My laptop is now blazing fast, 200$ for a 256gb SSD is really good

Cons: not as fast as vertex 3 or other new SSD (but still extremly fastaer than HDD)

5 out of 5 eggsBang!! More Than I expected.

Pros: Not going to go into benchmarks and all that, that's been run down by other reviewers. And I agree, it's not the fastest SSD, but this capacity for the Shell Shocker price of $199 was a perfect deal.
Installed Windows 7 Pro clean and it boots in half the time of the WD Scorpio Black 7200rpm 320GB I had in this laptop. Resuming from Hibernate and Sleep is ridiculously better.
All my programs launch faster than ever before and that was what I was after.
The Bonus, and I already knew but really hadn't given it any thought, is the battery life. The battery in my Studio15 was beginning to loose some oomf because it's nearly 2 years old, and this SSD has added a good 1 1/2 to 2 hours life over the mechanical drive I had before. So not only did I get an SSD with ridiculous capacity for under $200, but I shouldn't have to replace my battery anytime soon - which I had been planning on. So this drive actually saved me some cash.

Cons: I sympathize for those who weren't able to get one with the Shell Shocker, but that's no reason to give it a bad review. I'm glad Newegg cleared all of those out, because this product rocks and so far deserves nothing buy 5 eggs thus far.

Other Thoughts: I had been planning to replace the 320GB WD Scorpio Black in this laptop for a while now. I couldn't decide between a Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid 500GB and a WD Scorpio Black 7200rpm 750GB. The Momentus XT had a lot of mentions for great speed and boot time, but poor on power consumption. The WD has a lot of great reviews and an insane amount of space for a laptop computer (I have over 100GB of music alone, not going into family photos, movies, etc.).
I am so thankful I actually read the Shell Shocker preview email that morning and got in on this deal. This SSD doesn't have the space that the others do, but for an SSD at $199, it was a deal that couldn't be passed up.
Thank you, NewEgg.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy upgrade to my 2009 Macbook Pro. I did a clean install then restored via Time Machine. Instant speed boost. Have not tried to enable trim yet.

Cons: Had to return the WD Scorpio Black I ordered days before to upgrade my speed. SSD is the way to go for me.
