SIIG JU-MR0412-S1 All-in-one USB 2.0 Multi Card Reader

Pros: Was able to read, write and format CF and SD cards just fine. Worked fine with 8 GB SD. Small; works with power from USB connection. No external power required. Power and activity light work fine. No software installation required. Win7 machine recognizes it automatically. Comes with cable. What's not to like?

Cons: None so far.

Cons: only use it with sd cards. 2 Gb cards are fine. it won't read either of my 8 Gb cards though and i have a ton of pictures on there i want to get off without having to go thru the camera. what a pain. (and disappointment)

Pros: Always works, well built and CLEAR markings on the bottom in case you forget which slot is which.

Other Thoughts: I've bought quite a few cheap ones thinking I'd save a few dollars - they all died. I decided to spend more the $5 on one and bought this. I don't regret it and probably never will.

Pros: Small, flat profile is less bulky than other multi-card readers.

Other Thoughts: Using a Sandisk Ultra 4GB CF card (rated at 30 MB/sec), the SIIG reader data transfer rate was 12.6-12.9 MB/sec. The data tests transferred 2.96 GB and 594 MB to the hard disk; the file sizes were 11-14 MB each (RAW image files). An Asus EEE PC netbook (Atom N550) was used for the test.

Cons: Compact flash slot too shallow, pins too easy to bend beyond repair
Sporadic disconnecting (at least when using SD cards), not sure if it's the cable or the reader, but even when not touching, card disconnects and reconnects to the computer while not being touched

Cons: Read the reviews prior to ordering this product. Saw a few that talked about the reader being broken, but I thought it just HAD to be a few isolated cases. Maybe, but if so... add me to the isolation list. I opened this thing up, and took it out of the packaging in 3 separate pieces.

Pros: Small and easily portable. Does it's job

Cons: Case split in half after 3 months of ownership. Currently held together with electrical tape until I can replace it with a new internal/permanent reader

Other Thoughts: Great for photographers or HD DSLR shooters like myself. Doesn't take up much space at all in my bag. I bought this just because it is small and works well with my netbook and other small portable drives to backup CF cards while I'm out on shoots.

Pros: Very sleek, compact device that reads multiple card types (even simultaneously). The placement of the reader slots is quite creative, so kudos to whomever designed the reader's slot layout. Works right out of the box with my Linux machines, so the reader is standards-compliant.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I am very happy with these readers (I bought two, and would not hesitate to buy more if I had a need for more). These are excellent buys at the barely 2-digit price I paid for each.

Other Thoughts: The picture makes it look matte black, but the actual product is a really nice glossy black; looks great!

Plugged it into a Windows 7 computer, stuck in a CF card and was ready to go. Fast and simple.
