Cons: I downloaded a few images off of the card on my laptop (USB 2.0) when I originally received the reader. Today, I plugged it into a 3.0 socket - the card did not power up. Tried the card out on my laptop again and it wasn't working there also. Apparently when I took out the supplied cord and re-plugged it, it yanked out some of the guts of the reader's rear socket. I pulled off the top casing to take a closer look and the socket had become partially unattached. Flimsy design. This reader would have never withstood regular use in the long term as it clearly as next to no durability. I probably nullified the RMA I applied for after the whole socket came out (with great ease). Return shipping would have been 2/3 the price of the reader anyways. Cons: I put a card to be read into this reader and it did not pop up on screen. I did a check and the computer did not know it was hooked up. I pulled the USB cable off and the USB connector on this unit broke off. It seems that it is only held on with 8 very small soldered connections. Those connections will break eventually. This reader needs to be re-designed to allow the USB cable to be put on and off without breaking off the USB cable jack. Other Thoughts: I would recommend this reader IF they fix this glaring fault. The design of the USB jack is very very poor. It needs to be fixed so that any pressure on the USB cable will not break off the input jack. Steve from Ohio 7/10/2012 11:50:37 AM Tech Level: 4/5 Ownership: 2/5	Rating: 5/5Super fast. USB3 is awesome! Pros: This reader so far has exceeded my expectations. Seems that most of what I get from NewEgg has that effect. The USB3 is so freaking fast it is amazing. Compared to USB2, USB3 is like HDD vs SDD. My photos and videos download with such speed it is crazy. I've had other readers that are USB2 and they don't even compare with USB3 speed. This is my first USB3 device and it is just incredible. You do have to make sure that you've downloaded USB3 drivers for your USB3 ports on your motherboard for USB3 to work. Once that is done, just plug this thing in and fasten your seat belt. I run a 64 GB sdxc card and this reader/writer takes care of that with no problems. It can do up to 2 TB cards which are not available yet. But eventually this reader/writer can be a SDD with 2 TB. Read and write speeds? Don't know. All I know it is faster than whatever I've had before. Technology. I love it. Cons: None so far. Don't run it over with a truck or it won't work. Also, keep it out of the sea,out of the toilet and for gosh sake, keep it out of the microwave and blender. Yes it does blend. I'd take off two eggs for all that but everyone should know these things by now so it keeps the 5 eggs! Other Thoughts: Writes and reads faster than a speeding bullet. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Have no fear. Just get this reader / writer for hassle free camera downloads or even for data storage. It put a big smile on my face when I first used it. Way way faster than any other reader I've used in the past. Why is it that we have two people running for president that no one wants to vote for?
