3 out of 5 eggsBought two, one needed some persuasion

Pros: They worked and were dirty cheap

Cons: Nothing really

Other Thoughts: One of them had the faceplate misaligned with the card reader slots. I just stuck a pocket knife in the slot and bent the card reader slot upwards a little bit.

These things are dirt cheap, can't really complain about that.

5 out of 5 eggsSABRENT CRW-UINB 68-in-1

Pros: Inexpensive when caught on sale. Work well if you do not try to charge devices such as cell phones on them. I like the mini card reader. I can upload from the tiny memory chip from my phone without an adaptor.

Cons: n

Other Thoughts: Data transfer only peeps.

2 out of 5 eggsbroke within a year

Pros: It was inexpensive and it had all the options I was looking for.

Cons: Unfortunately the card reader portion stopped working within a year. (The usb connection still works.) Also, all the card slots are upside down. And the power light is too bright (covered it with electrical tape).

3 out of 5 eggsIt's what you should get for the price.

Pros: It works.

Cons: It doesn't fit quite like the one it's replacing. It seems a bit small for the standard 3 1/2 inch external drive bay and doesn't come out quite far enough to be flush with the front panel.

The (redundant) power LED is always on because this (Gigabyte brand) motherboard provides power to the USB 2.0 ports full-time, even when the PC is turned off.

Other Thoughts: If this were for a computer that I intend to keep, I would have gone for a US 3.0 model from AFT. They're really nice - but pricey. Since I'm just rebuilding this older (but good) machine before I give it away, I'm trying to save some cash. Oh well.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Reads most modern day cards
Gives an extra USB port

Cons: Failed 5 years of little use on the SD card
Killed my Micro SD card after just one use

Other Thoughts: This is the second card reader I brought in 2009 after the first version from 2006 couldn't read HC cards. The model numbers where the same, but the older version just couldn't read the HC cards. I've already brought a simple USB card reader that reads SD and Micro since those are the only card formats I use.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: cheap. worked fine for a while.

Cons: bought this in 2009. by 2013 it was completely dead. pretty light use out of it. the usb port on it still works, but none of the card reader ports work anymore.

Other Thoughts: it was only $10, and it lasted 3 or 4 years. would be nice if it still worked of course, but its not a huge loss.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT RELIABLE!!!

Pros: If and when it works...

Cons: Stopped working in less than 60 days.
Not reliable, would never buy this brand again.

Other Thoughts: This thing is around $9, and the manufacturer wants you to pay shipping for RMA which is around $5. Are you kidding me?

1 out of 5 eggsCheap

Pros: Worked great for first few months. Than sd card reader slot started giving problems, not holding the card securely, not seeing the card.

Cons: Not quite sure when it happened, but about 10 months to a year after it was installed, the computer started having boot issues. Than all the usbs stopped responding. Because it was plugged into an onboard usb 2.0, it shorted all the usbs on the board including the 3.0. Once the unit was unplugged, boot issues stopped, but the usbs were still down. The board was an ASUS P6X58 Premium.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: USB port worked but slot misaligned, difficult to insert connector

Cons: SD card slots did not function, internal circuit card misaligned

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately costs as much to return as it cost to buy

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Used it once.

Cons: Caused my OS to prevent other USB devices from installing - like my printer. Caused my USB mouse & keyboard to randomly freeze. I had a new Rosewill card reader for a different build, so I took out this piece of garbage and put in the Rosewell (it uses a different chipset), my problems are gone.

Other Thoughts: For the same price you can get a Rosewill. Most card readers are not very durable so consider them a disposable. As for this Sabrent reader, get yourself some nice craft made beer for the same price rather waste your time and money on this product.
