1 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Silicon Power Blaze B10 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model SP016GBUF3B10V1B

Pros: Low price

Cons: Really slow. The write speed don't even show on Atto Bench until transfers gets to 64k transfers.

Spend a little more money and get a faster flash drive. Just make sure it is not Silicon Power.

4 out of 5 eggsSP Blaze B10 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive

This review is from: Silicon Power Blaze B10 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model SP016GBUF3B10V1B

Pros: -USB 3.0
- Inexpensive

Cons: - Not Very Fast
- Housing is black so you can't see anything if you write on the housing describing the contents.

Other Thoughts: I purchased several of these SP 16GB USB 3.0 flash drives to use as boot drives and software loaders for system builds. I just needed reliable drives that were inexpensive. So far, these work fine.

These drives are the current norm for inexpensive flash drives. I don't think they would hold up to every day use when carried around in a pocket or being bumped around. They work fine for holding the OS files and being used occasionally.

I would prefer a light/white housing so I can write a descriptor on it to tell what is on the drive. I would not take any points off for that.

The upload speed to the drive is not stellar. I experienced upload speeds of around 15MB/sec. Download speeds were around 20-25MB/sec for the files I used. Nothing special for a USB 3.0 drive. I have some other flash drives that give me 35-40MB/sec upload (to the drive) and 90+MB/sec download (from the drive) speeds. I took a point off for the average speed.

If you are just looking for an inexpensive drive that you use occasionally, this could fit your needs. If you plan on using this every day and carrying it around or treating it roughly, I suggest you go with a flash drive that is more ruggedly constructed.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Basic 3.0 Drives

This review is from: Silicon Power Blaze B10 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model SP016GBUF3B10V1B

Pros: They are 3.0 compatible. The do seem to be a bit faster, but I haven't seen amazing jumps over my fast 2.0 drives.

Cons: Nothing really. For the Price they are nice 3.0 drives, just not the fastest.

Other Thoughts: I would buy again.

1 out of 5 eggsNot 3.0

This review is from: Silicon Power Blaze B10 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model SP016GBUF3B10V1B

Pros: Heat triggered color change logo is cool I guess.

Cons: Not 3.0. Tested on 3 computers that recognize other 3.0 devices. No joy. Don't waste your money.

Other Thoughts: Yes, the design on the top of the housing changes colors like a mood ring.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad

This review is from: Silicon Power Blaze B10 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model SP016GBUF3B10V1B

Pros: High capacity, fast speeds. I get write speeds of approximately 25 MB/sec on my Thinkpad with USB 3.0 ports. My old USB 2.0 drive got 5-6 MB/sec.

Cons: The cap that goes over the business end of the drive doesn't snap onto the rear of the drive. I will give myself one month before I misplace the cap.

3 out of 5 eggsalright

This review is from: Silicon Power Blaze B10 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model SP016GBUF3B10V1B

Pros: it gets 37MB/s read and 17MB/s write even with native usb3 (my desktop) but isnt much slower with usb2 ports (my old laptop 30MB/s read 18MB/s write)

Cons: "up to" 90MB/s means just that its not a promise

Other Thoughts: i may get an addon card and see if its faster then. my mobo may be at fault.
