1 out of 5 eggsHands down, the worst USB drive I have owned

Pros: I love the size of this drive and it's inexpensive.

Cons: From day one, this drive has been finicky, unreliable and extremely slow. I do IT work and so this drive goes into a lot of machines, this is not an incident isolated to my system. About 25% of the time I plug this into the front port of a computer it will lock up the system until I unplug it. Windows Explorer just can't seem to deal with it. When this happens I plug it into one of the rear ports and it typically works. The difference between the front ports and the rear is simply a wire running from the motherboard to the front of the PC, in the rear they are soldered onto the board. I have no idea why that would have any effect but it does. When it works, speed starts out fast and over several minutes it slows to a crawl. I simply cannot use this as a reliable storage source for the tools I use in the field.

Other Thoughts: I read the reviews and tossed the dice... it was too cheap to not try. I will keep it around for an emergency. If my new drive fails I can use this for the few days I will need to get another.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Size USB Drive But So Slow

Pros: Good price and large size. Once formatted it comes out to 30GB just like it should.

Cons: As a lot of others have said, this thing is so slow. I have a lot of other flash drives and the transfer to and from on them is really fast, so I was a bit surprised to see how slow this thing actually is. I transferred some shows from one PC to take to a friend of mine, and getting the files on the drive took forever. Getting them off on a different PC took just as long. I was really surprised because its supposed to be USB 2.0 but acts like an older USB 1.0 model. I transferred almost 28GB of files to it, and it took over 30 minutes to do so. Still though the size and price was great, and worked for what I needed.

Other Thoughts: Like I and others have said it is slow, so if youre looking for a fast one keep looking. I didnt really need one that is fast, was just needing one that is a large size, and it has served that purpose. Was a little surprised though how small it is. I hope that it will last awhile, does seem a little flimsy, but usually for me things last awhile because I take good care of them. I like the little keychain hole and chain that comes with it, helps to keep up with it. I took off one egg because of the speed, Newegg is always great as usual. Love my Newegg! They are the first place I always look for anything.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for some common tasks, but...

Pros: For larger files good read (30MBs) and reasonable write (8-10MBs) performance.
Small size but still easy to instert / remove.

Cons: Unusable for wrtie or read of many small files. Should not be used for OS backup.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this drive to install a bootable Linux OS and several very large files. This meant that there were many small files in many directories. Wirte time was horrific - the worst I have ever seen on a flash drive, even the 256MB antiques. It was virtually impossible to boot with with the drive. It took at least 5 minutes while the same boot with a different brand took 25 seconds. And that drive showed only half of the bulk read/write performance of this one.
After my extensive analysis I found that neither the type of filesysystem nor filesystem block alignment with the probable flash block size made any difference. Larger files were quite good, many small files were very bad.

So who cares? My attempted use isn't at all common.

After all,It has good performance if copying MP3's or photos. Isn't that what thumbdrives are meant for? Good thoughts, and itf those are your needs then this is a pretty good drive.

Buif you want to use this to make a backup of your Windows OS your problems will be just the same as I had. The write and read will be so slow that you will give up on it.

Consider this drive if you have the common uses for it. But if you have special needs look elsewhere.

2 out of 5 eggsFreakishly slow with VHDs

Pros: Small size & lightweight

Cons: While I was able to transfer files to and from the drive quickly enough, that was not the purpose behind the purchase. The purpose of the purchase was to get a flash drive large enough to hold two VHDs and to run the VHDs from this drive. The sad part is, my old 8GB DataTravelers perform a great deal faster than this stick.

When running my VHDs off the DataTravelers, they were slow in comparison to my external HDD, yet I could do work. However, with this data stick, I want to pull my hair out with how freakishly sluggish it is. I am talking I double click an icon and wait nearly 2 minutes for it to start to do anything.

Other Thoughts: I should have researched this a bit more. That is my fault.

Side Note: For those that do not know what a VHD is, it is a Virtual Hard Drive that contains a separate OS from what is booted with. I use them to keep my development software off my main machine.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive, small size

Pros: Small size, waterproof, steel case

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I've had this drive for 4 months and it has been great so far. The small size is nice. The steel case helps dissipate heat so overheating is not a problem as it often is with these small form factor USB drives.

4 out of 5 eggs32 GB Flash Drive

Pros: Fast shipping from as usual!
For the data capacity you get for the price, it's a steal!
This is a well made, sturdy little flash drive with lots of room, biggest capacity thumb drive I own in fact.

Cons: Too small, I am afraid I will loose it.
Gets real hot, real quick.
My other, plastic made thumb drives stay pretty cool, this one heats up!

Other Thoughts: Totally plug and play, and have zero problems moving data from one PC to the other.
I can't speak to it's waterproof nature, but sooner or later it'll go threw the wash, and I will find out. But then again, my plastic, non-waterproof thumb drives, have gone through the wash, and still work.
