4 out of 5 eggsI'm not using as intended

Pros: Was trying to find a way to get SSD into an old IDE laptop. Found some SSDs, but never heard of the name brand & they didn't seem to have a high spec speed.

Found following adapter to use a SD card instead.

SYBA SD-ADA45006 2.5" IDE 44-Pin To Dual Compact Flash Adapter

Cons: Of coarse I didn't achieve the speeds as advertized.

Other Thoughts: Win XP sp3 Fat32

Bios recognized as: UDMA Mode: Mode 5 (100mb max xfer)

HD Tach benchmark on SD card:
Peak 53.7mb, avg 50.6mb, random access .4ms

HD Tach benchmark on old 7200rpm HD: Crashes during tests, so no results.

ATTO Benchmark:
Hard Drive SD Card
Size Write Read Write Read
.5k 2733 3938 2628 3702
1k 5169 7190 5007 7010
2k 9513 11350 8151 12579
4k 15276 22253 9941 20726
8k 15829 27291 11457 31207

128k 12147 53828
512k 16893 53902

Didn't benchmark past 16k on HD as speed didn't increase.

Didn't benchmark past 512k on SD card as speed didn't increase.

I read somewhere that it might be better to leave the FAT table to FAT32 as that is how the SD card's hardware was tweaked for & shipped as. This is why I didn't go to NTFS. I don't know how true this is, since you can read anything on the inet & not be true.
