5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (Orange Heat Spreader) Model TLAD38G1600HC9DC01

Pros: Orange, good price, no problems so far. They fit under an Arctic A11 cooler.

Cons: Won't brew coffee :-)

Other Thoughts: I bought a pair of these for a new build, first attempt at an APU based machine. So far so good. Works fine in dual channel mode, no temp or voltage problems. Careful of the heat sinks, they seemed a little flimsy. No height issues, nice metallic orange color.

4 out of 5 eggsNo problems - until now

This review is from: Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (Orange Heat Spreader) Model TLAD38G1600HC9DC01

Pros: Ran flawlessly for 11 months.

Cons: One of the four modules started causing BSOD MEMORY_MANAGEMENT errors. Isolated the bad one. Sending it back to TEAM for warranty repair. Could not get the RMA form to download from the TEAM website. Requested it by Email. I think I have to send it to New Taipei City. This should be interesting.

Other Thoughts: Don't know if this is a faulty brand or the same thing happens to all RAM modules from time to time.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great on my z97 system

This review is from: Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (Orange Heat Spreader) Model TLAD38G1600HC9DC01

Pros: - No hassles or stability issues, does what I want it to do

- Got this because it was the cheapest, nice to see cheap hardware work as advertised

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: -Using the 9-9-9-24 timings @ 1333

-Tested stability primarily with prime

2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

This review is from: Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (Orange Heat Spreader) Model TLAD38G1600HC9DC01

Pros: One stick works really well.
XMP appears to bet working properly.

Cons: One stick is DOA. Since I bought this as a pack, I'd need to send both sticks back to get an RMA, which would leave me without a computer for a couple weeks. Also, shipping on the RMA is $10.44!!

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend buying a more reputable brand. For the extra $10 worth of cost, you'll probably avoid the $10.44 shipping fee for an RMA and won't have to be without your PC for a couple weeks. I'll probably just settle for 4GB of RAM since I don't want to sink any more money into the PC and can't go multiple weeks without system RAM. I'm pretty bummed about how Newegg handles this type of return; I had always remembered their customer service to be much better than this...

4 out of 5 eggsAlas, incompatible with an Optiplex 980

This review is from: Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (Orange Heat Spreader) Model TLAD38G1600HC9DC01

Pros: I've had great experience with Team memory -- including a pair of 1333 sticks nearly identical to these.

Cons: Unfortunately, the 1600 sticks would not work in my Dell Optiplex 980 Core i5-650, with a 1333 bus and memory spec.

Other Thoughts: The bios seemed to recognize them OK, but Windows (either the OS or the preinstall environment) would crash within seconds of attempting to load the GUI. This was true when the 1600 sticks were alone or secondary to a pair of 1333s. I guess backwards compatibility has its limits.
