4 out of 5 eggsIt works, it's slow, it's cheap - I picked 2! ;)

Pros: This came preformatted as FAT32 and H2testw (SOSFakeFlash) verified it as actually being the rated capacity (well, 28.86 according to OS but close enough since that comes to 31 billion bytes). The drive works as promised. Price was very good for an (almost) 32GB. The other 1GB+ presumably goes to formatting or wear-leveling or something along those lines. People misunderstand and think they're getting cheated but then they go get a drive that their disk partition manager reports 31.9GB and then wonder why it has short a short lifespan! As a hint, memory IC's tend to come in multiples of powers of 2...

Comes with a free lanyard but you'll need a very small needle or something to thread that hole. Good luck - it makes this drive real handy so go ahead and do it! Being as small a Bluetooth dongle is amazingly convenient.

15.5MB/s sustained read speed which is great for rarely written files.

Cons: It started at 14.2MB/s (cached) and then moved towards 5MB/s (uncached) writing speed after leaving it for 90 minutes on H2testw. Reading was 15.6MB\s consistently for the 30 minutes it took to verify the written data. Not the fastest, but not the slowest either. This is about the same as older SD cards. This is slower than BD-R's by far, but then again, it's the size of a stack of 4 pennies and can't be scratched or suffer a head crash which kind of makes up for it.

I would NOT use this as a drive for the cache of a distributed file system's index (search on Google for "ZFS" and "cache" explains what this is for) or for ReadyBoost. The 5MB/s will really hold you back! Get a mini-PCI or similar drive for that. This is just for a universal drive that is small enough to not even be noticed (and thus not stolen/manhandled).

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend that you take advantage of this 'SummerSale' if you plan on getting a cheap USB Mass Storage device. 32GB of storage is enough to run a pretty good emergency boot drive. Search for "USB boot" and either "linux" or "windows" or "Mac os x" to find out how to do it on your system.

You can use BurnInTest from PassMark or any of the other many solutions to do the same (or just create a bunch of random 1GB files to copy from the HDD to it and verify that they have the same checksums using QuickPAR or MultiPAR). Linux and OS X/BSD users have it easier in that the commands to do this are built in. ;) Whatever way you do it, ALWAYS verify the real capacity of your drives!

3 out of 5 eggsTiny!

Pros: Very small in size which is what I was after.

Cons: Only formats under FAT32 to 28.8 gigs.

I understand formatting uses some overhead but didn't expect 3.2 gigs.

Other Thoughts: Bought for use with an auto media player and works fine for that. All in all for the sale price it was a good deal if it holds up over time.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh...

Pros: - Cheap.
- Seem to work.

Cons: - Slow (but what do you expect from a cheap USB 2.0 thumbdrive).
- Out of 3 supposedly identical units purchased, one of them has a capacity of just shy of 31 GB instead of the advertised 32 GB. (And yes, I'm counting based on decimal "disk drive" gigabytes, not binary gigabytes.)

Other Thoughts: Not worth the hassle to RMA the undersized one. But calling it a 32 GB drive in the product listing is misleading!

5 out of 5 eggsReally tiny - and it works

Pros: Small. I mean REALLY small! The USB connector is by far the largest part of this flash drive. When seated it barely sticks out, which is what I needed.

Cons: Don't lose it.

Other Thoughts: Notthe fastest flash drive I've had, but not the slowest either.
